Widespread odiferous grey smoke a full 18 hours before any alert issued for 'community health air quality'. Said smoke was reason I installed app. If this is the timeliness we can expect, why bother with this so far fully useless app? Edit 28/3 once again, for several days, smoke everywhere. visibility is very low. It stinks. Again, no notification on app until days later. Pointless app. NOTIFY SOONER! No, I won't visit some website- that's the app's for!

This app is rendered worthless by the incompetence of its operators. After incessant alerts going off all night FOR THE SAME F@%KING EVENT I've had enough and turned the alerts off. These people are just too stupid to be allowed to use notifications, and too lazy to differentiate the abets in the settings or provide an option to mute an event when the idiots are at the controls.

well I get alerts...for things that aren't happening. So many storm or severe weather alerts where the weather never appears and there's no sign it could. edit: my watch zone is only around a block. I appreciate the insight. Though thanks.

Great app for getting info. Terrible as a notification of emergencies in your area as the constant, perpetual, unending, sleep stealing warnings that I can't turn off left me ignoring everything in the end. How about an option to be notified when situations change/escalate rather than being told the same stuff over and over and over and over and over and over and over at all times and days? Constant noise is just noise. E: There are notification types that can't be turned off or modified Amy.

This app is like the boy that cried "wolf". It alerts me multiple times a day with false alarms and alerts that aren't relevant to my area. I can turn off some of these but then I won't be alerted when there is a real emergency. Plus some alerts like fire danger ratings cannot be turned off, so I need to uninstall or mute the app entirely, which again defeats the purpose of the app. I don't need to be reminded that it's Summer since that's the case 25% of the year.

I don't always find this is the most straight forward app to use or to quickly find relevant data. On occasion it seems to freeze up and becomes unresponsive. One suggestion would be to have the option to turn the map orientation. This would be particularly useful for you to find yourself in a situation to navigate around multiple fires in the same area. In a panic, map orientation is exactly the kind of thing that can flummox people, particularly when if you're unfamiliar with the area.

What happened to the list of fires you could take in in one glance, see the stages of “not yet in control“, “contained“, “safe“ next to each listing, so you didn't have to wait for 20 seconds everytime you checked on a particular area on a tiny map? what about back to the overall full page map civerage with your 20 or 30-km Radius accentuated, but an overall view of the whole map? Every year there is a new system which one has to master before the information can be accessed without delay.

Edit: I was wrong. Just didn't look in the right place. You can configure all your alerts. This is a useful and important app, but you guys need to make the notifications configurable. I'm getting hammered with irrelevant bs like storm warnings - I know it's stormy, I can see out the window! I only want to be notified about fires and downed trees in my watch zone but I'm about to turn notifications off completely because there's too much other clutter. Please fix it.

Its a great app. Good informtion on an easy to use interface. Im only able to rate 3 stars because a major function of this app is the ability to notify you via notofications re: incidents, and this doesnt work for me and hasnt for a long while. Is there a known issue with this or is this a new thing? Can it be fixed. Ive already reinstalled the app.

Mostly shows notifications as configured in settings. Good to have this level of granularity. However, a functionally useless mess in terms of trying to view details of incidents as the number of incidents varies seemingly at random from one window to the next. One screen says 10, another shows 8, then maybe 3 appear on map. I'll look for spmething else.

Very useful potentially life-saving app for Victoria - thanks for providing such a valuable service. Used this on a recent trip to the countryside. With the current bushfire situation in Vic the app is essential for travellers. The amount of customization is daunting, but it's so handy to be able to set up alerts for specific events in specific areas only. Combined with recent versions of Android (Pixel 3a), the ability to have emergency notifications override DND settings is fantastic.

While the idea behind the app is good. It doesnt run all the time time and you dont get notifications if an incident happens because of this. Recent updates mean i cant change settings as ive lost the abolity to, meaning that the app itself is just poorly designed as its impossible to use at the best of times with There are times when its handy to open and see that theres a fire coming, but as i have no notifications (i have them turned on), i'd see the fire at which point it'd be too late.

Good app. Could be a lot better. Notifications for new events are useful. Customisation of alerts like air quality - even though I have them switched off - keep popping up. At the end of the last bush fire season I removed this app only to reinstall at the start of this one. Will get rid of it again at the end of summer.

The most important app for Victorians is also one of the most poorly executed that I have ever used. Constantly alerting for events outside watch zones to the point that I'm considering uninstalling it, that's not good!! The app itself is bloated and clumsy. The developer needs to lift their game or admit that they're out of their depth and hand it to somebody capable.

Notifications do not work for me either. They are configured correctly on my device, the test does not work either. 2 stars because I need the notifications to work so they are passed to my smartwatch. Developers: I am using API 28 and it appears your app is not requesting access to "modify system settings" early in the initial run, which it appears to be using to create the alert. If google services/play store cannot access the net it interferes with notifications as well. I have a firewall which blocks both.

The app is just okay but sometimes complicated, and needs many improvements. Here's just three. 1: To exit the app one has to go back through every screen that was opened in the session. 2: With the current Bunyip fires, app was showing me as being in the "watch" zone for two days longer than was needed because an incident remained on the map that was marked as safe. 3: My watch area is set at 5km radius from me, yet I receive warnings about the fires near Beenak. That are about 50km away.

I have used this app for a long time with positive results, untill about 3 weeks ago. In that time the app has failed to notify me of a single warning or incident in any of my 4 watch areas. All notifations are set to ON, app permissions are all ON and correct on the app itself as well as my phone. I have deletes and reinstalled the app also. There is a BIG problem here somewhere... I hope it's fix immediately as many many people rely on it to keep updated in emergency situations.

As an emergency service volunteer I find this app clunky and counter intuitive . Rarely use it as we (at the station) think of it like the boy who cried wolf. A classic example is still having vast areas of Eastern Vic swathed in bushfire black...thats over now and yes its wet so hatch it instead or remove it. It's an app that's trying to do way too much with feeds from too many sources. Split it up like it was originally and zone it to parts of Vic rather than attempting to do it all.

Warnings and Incident counts at the zone summary level do not match when you select the zone you want to look at. Also why do warnings show as incidents? And I have in unselected specific filters yet they still show. These are basic errors that should have been raised as test bugs. People are relying on this to be up to date and correct

The app is good. But I have had many small incidents that seem to be taken care of and finalised in my area that are days old (11plus days in some cases) still appear as icons on the map. These should really be cleared or have a post "made safe" expiry time so that they don't clutter the map with icons that confuse being able to identify the more recent and warnings.

It costs nothing to receive the Pandemic Alerts, so I couldn't care less how many I receive a week. I just wish I could change the notification sound to something that isn't what other notifications sound like. I'd like to know if it's the app while I'm doing other things, like cooking dinner. Then I'd know to check my phone immediately or if it could wait 10 - 15mins because it's not an emergency.

Fas. Feb 9, 2019

There is great information here, fire and weather dangers but their notification system overwhelms with worthless data that will never affect you. I have a short range 20 km watch zone but because we are in "Gippsland" there are constant popups on severe weather in South, North, East Gippsland etc which are as helpful as knowing the weather in South America. The ACTUAL reports we are interested in get lost in all this chaff. The only way I can see to disable these is turn them off entirely!

Pet. E. Jan 19, 2020

The app works well to give notifications, but unfortunately I can't seem to be able to stop it giving notifications (storms, air quality etc) despite turning them off and saving. In the end I deleted my watch zone and still got notifications. I have now uninstalled the app. This happened last year too, so I only install the app and use it when I really need it now (mountain biking etc.)
