VICFires
It utilises data from the Victorian Country Fire Authority/Victorian Department of Sustainability data feeds on fires with your current location provided by the phone GPS.
Using this information the application is able to provide a list of fires showing the nearest ones first, helping you to understand your current situation.
The information is reliant on both the accuracy of the phone's GPS and the data recorded on the CFA's website.
This application does not cache any data, so Internet access (either Wireless. or 3G) is required to access the data.
Be aware that while P4G has utilised "best efforts" to provide this information to you, it is not intended to replace other sources of information on the fire situation near you. Also remember that fire and weather can change quickly.

Since the the app has been changed has not been for the good don't like it at all should have left it as it was.
Not great - hard to filter down to the sorts of alerts you care about. Signal:noise ratio is poor. Difficult UI. Not something I'd want to be relying on during bushfire weather. Also doesn't seem to be actively maintained so I don't see much hope of it improving.
When I tap on notifications it always says information is out of date, even when the notification is 1 minute old. I have uninstalled this app and then re-installed but it has not fixed this glitch. As I live in a high fire danger area this glitch is extremely worrying and dangerous. Please fix!
A bit limited in the amount of information displayed for calls. A call history would be nice, as well as a list of appliances responding. A list of all stations, with their designated number and address for quick reference for move ups would be invaluable.
The update still doesn't show anything on the map on android. Just fine on ios though(this was last year). And here we are, 12 months later, and the map has completely vanished on android. Ios is fine
It needs more detail on appliances as the old fire app had. The remainder is good to a degree . However it is new and still needs work . Today we have incident in Nsw out of control since 1 am. In addition asked to rate the app. No reply its not a good thing.Theres been a tree down in Croydon north for 2 days maybe it's growing again. Heres another example vic emergency app tree down 4 minutes ago . No mention of it on this app lags
This app keeps closing when you try to use it. What I can see hasn't been updated for 17 hours. Just what I want when there's a bushfire 2kms from my house. 😡
Clean, simple and functional alternative to the eternally disappointing official Vic. Emergency app. A dollar well spent. Could be better with a bit more design work.
App stops regularly. Though I set a watch zone, the app follows me, reporting incidents in areas I have no interest in. I'm sure they can do better than this.
I have today installed this app and delighted how clear the maps are and the layout generally is very easy on the eye and self-explanatory. The app overall is excellent! Well done!
Getting notifications, but not showing any fire information at all. Couldn't make a watch zone. Uninstalled app but will have to purchase app again as there was no update option.
I think it's poorly put together it won't create watch zones. The information is either late or incorrect. Bloody useless
usually a good app but suddenly crashes on a Google Pixcel when I click map. have reported a number of times but not fixed and no feedback. Eroding my trust
Nice App....but not as informative as the original App (VicFire). We are not Americans, please change the date format to reflect the standard Australian written sequence. (Day/Month/Year). 👍
Samsung s5 keeps failing maps ok. text is black screen uninstalled, reinstalled ok for 20min then failed, have to reinstall each time I want to use it.
Have had this app for ages. It used to be excellent and easy to use but since the update I can not access any data.
Appnused.to be good, but map no longer works at all. Poor rating, going to delete as it's no use now.
Constant alerts for the same incident and why cant you delete ALL old incidents together. Oh that would be common sense and government departments or pollies dont have that!!
Too hard to use. I need to find three different areas and I can't work out how to put in the watch zones. My sister and her family are all in the fire areas
Excellent help with how to setup new watchzones, etc. Very reliable and informative .
Worked great until the MFB became fire rescue Victoria (FRV), now no longer receive alerts except for the CFA. Can you update the app?
Very slow to report in comparison to the Gov app. Adding multiple zones is difficult, the only way I found out was via a previous review. Doesn't work in way or offer features or workability that is expected from an app that you pay for. More like a limited trial version experience. Wish the refund option was available for longer than the blink, not worth paying for at all. Could not find any help files either. Should have believed the essence of the previous reviews 😔
