Great idea poor execution : The subtitles works but several times in a episode they don't appears (I use the same subtitles on VLC and they works just fine). Sometimes when you play a new episode (or press pause and restart the episode) the video don't load. When it's stuck you have to clear the cache of your browser. If it was a rare bug I wouldn't mind, but sometimes for a 40 min episode I need to clear the cache 3 times !

I paid for lifetime premium because I really liked the app. But then it stopped working. I contacted them in September 2021. They claimed a new Chrome update was the issue and they were working on a patch and that the chrome app still worked. But no version on any platform or device worked for me and still doesn't. Contacted them again in January 2022, but they didn't even bother to reply. It is now May and I don't have any hope of it ever working again.

There is no way of sorting videos on the app and there are no playlists! All my media files are grouped as alphabetical order making it so impossible to navigate especially with TV show episodes in there. Developers PLEASE integrate playlists into the app and let us filter which media sources we can toggle on and off and view by folders. Sorting by meta data (eg categories) and adding in images would make this so much better. I'm premium already

This was favorite app for local streaming, I bought a premium membership yeas ago when the app first came out and I feel like I got my value out of it. However it doesn't work nearly as well as it used to. Reddit threads provided some fixes so I was atleast able to cast to the tv again but still can't get playlists to work properly. The Reddit community seems to be working on getting things running smoothly again, it would be great if the devs would help them with that

Was pretty good. Occasionally a video wouldn't play. Tried to troubleshoot with tech support and nothing worked. Recently, however, almost nothing plays. File format, bit rate, etc doesn't seem to matter. Tired of messing with it, easier to haul my laptop and power cord down the stairs when I want to watch something, instead of crossing my fingers and being disappointed. Too bad cause cool concept. Developers were super nice and tried to help but I'm moving on.

3 seconds of the video and it stops. on every video. Takes ages to load on the phone and it's now ating full videos. It says it doesn't use internet and it doesnt matter if the connection is slow but I believe thats parr of the problem. I've played premium to have the chance of create playlists, but I'm simply not able to cast, so bleh. Good idea but stil a lot to get better.

Like the others - I also purchased lifetime subscription because they were AMAZING in the beginning. Literally flawless performance and structure. About a year and a half ago, they had an update complication with Google's update and it crashed. They were awesome and send us an email with a backup local site that would work until the issue was resolved. No big deal. But then it stopped working so we messaged them and they said to use the other way again and that it should work. Playlist dont

This app and its desktop companion are TERRIBLY buggy. It used to work great but lately it's a nightmare. I have all auto updates disabled on my phone and computer, yet the ability to connect varies day by day. Sometimes it works flawlessly for weeks. Then it has major buffering problems. Then it can't connect to my computer. No firewall, resetting router doesn't change anything, etc. They stopped doing online support and now answer issues EXCLUSIVELY by email which is moronic, as you can't learn from the experiences of others and you can only get answers when the guy who responds to emails is awake and responsive. Ridiculous business model. In fact, one of the only things I've learned while searching for answers is that MANY users can't turn off auto pay for their premium subscription. Brilliant.

Hey, the application is good and useful but I am having issues with external subtitles quite a lot. Some files don't work at all (subs just don't show up) and some files stop working at some time during the movie (in this case sometimes I can fix the issues by reloading the subs, but sometimes this doesn't work and subs don't show up). Could you take a look at the subtitles support? Tell me if I can provide more debugging info.

This could be so good, but falls short by not being usable. The clever idea of using Chrome on a host PC to do a lot of the work and then casting the output works really well and gives great video quality. But all the thousands of video files on my network are constantly coming and going, so are organised into structured folders that the users can navigate easily. Unless the app provides a means to find files in the usual Windows way, it's in practice unusable for me. The only sorting choice is alphabetic, or recent, neither is at all helpful..

UPDATE 2: well, it took a bit of time but they finally fixed my account not detecting premium! So now it's works! The free version is pretty damn good too. I love how easy it is to set up on the computer and control playing media on the phone like a remote. Just as a suggestion if the developers ever read this: please send out an automated email if your tech support is going on holiday.I was about to demand a refund from Google because I hadn't heard anything for 3 weeks. I'm glad it's resolved!

No longer supported. Development has ceased on both mobile apps and the one in Chrome. Used to be my go-to steaming app. Now the Android app doesn't refresh my computer's media library. I can't launch a video from my phone. I have start it from my laptop, THEN connect the Android app to the same Chromecast and the controls will appear. Actively looking for an alternative.

I gave it one star because subtitles doesn't work. After about an hour into the movie they simply disappear. This is a very old issue and it seems like there has been zero effort in correcting such a trivial thing. But other that that, it's awesome. Also one last thing, they decided not to support Linux which is a big big mistake, people running Windows etc have so many options already they don't even need videostream.

After having many problems and frustrations casting video (video files, web files, YouTube) from my Mac mini and/or Android phone and tablet to my NVIDIA Shield TV, I was sceptical that Videostream could do any better than Google themselves in making Chromecast/casting video work seamlessly with all my devices. How wrong was I! Well I'm blown away by how easy it was to set it all up and then for it to all work beautifully on my NVIDIA Shield. With the Videostream desktop/web app as a server/player on the Mac and Videostream mobile app on my phone as a remote, it just worked flawlessly. I didn't have to change network settings (Mac and NVIDIA on ethernet and phone on wireless) like I had to previously. It played all my videos without problems, MP4, MKV and even AVI files. I would have even taken the lifetime subscription if it weren't in American dollars as the conversion rate at the moment ups the cost up a little too much for me. Hopefully the exchange rate will improve over time! :-)

While on the technical side of things, this app has been working wonderfully for me, after buying the lifetime premium membership, about a month later, I lost all of its benefits. While this, on its own, could be very minor, as echoed by other reviews, the devs don't seem to support the app anymore. Their tech support has not answered my emails (except for an automated message) after more than two weeks of wait and a bump. I was also refered to contact another email by the Google Tech Supp and again, it was to no avail. At this point, I have filed a complaint with Google and I am roughly 50 bucks shorter... All I have to say is, Thanks Videostream!

Great idea and "initial" product but lacking on support and customer help. I have been a paid subscriber around 6 months. At first I liked the product and it performed exactly as I needed it to, so I purchased lifetime subscription. After a few months the service stopped working. Contacted help. After a few attempts at repair by online support team they stopped replying to emails. Figures. I would like my money back. I'm not saying their product is faulty but no support to find out.

Great app when it works... 15% of the time! The other 85% of the time I'm troubleshooting and trying to fix it. For instance, I paid for premium so it can auto play files, it can almost never auto play for some retarded reason and I still have to manually pick every damn episode... Don't let the episode finish playing before you have to get up and pick a new one or else you'll introduce totally new connection problems 😐😑😤 Been using it for almost five years and it's NEVER gotten better.

This app was great for a time. I bought a premium lifetime subscription in 2017. All was great, but around early 2019, I couldn't access any premium/paid features. I've sent four emails to the team between since then with no response. I'm only giving this a 1 star because of the horrible customer service. I wish I could get my money back b/c I'm stuck using the free version.

A bit buggy and finicky but in general works great. I'm using the free version. The Android app makes it faster to view sequential downloads. Yes you have to manually choose the next episode but it's better on Android than Chrome. Needs the companion Chrome extension so load that first before using this. The Videostream set of apps seems to be the best way to stream from my computer to my TV. Thank you!

lots of bug but a powerful application. i prefer it over plex which is just bulky and slow. i frequently have to restart the app or force stop for all of my chrome casts. It will randomly work great. I'd like to buy the paid version someday but waiting for the next deal/price drop and maybe some updates to fix some bugs. it would also be cool to see icons instead of just letters next to my content.

Customer service seems to be non-extent. I have paid for premium use of this software and after numerous contacts with the company, some of which have included copies of the payments I have made to them, I have still been unable to play a single video from their software and of course I have been able to use the software to cast any of my videos. I just don't understand apparently.

App is quite buggy, plays some videos but not others. When it works, it's fine. I paid for premium and it was working ok for awhile but all of a sudden the app does not recognise me as a premium user. Received standard response from devs to perform the usual checks. Wrote to them numerous times but I no longer get any replies from them. Extremely frustrating to deal with the team behind this app. No response at all.
