The app is actually OK ... it does what it needs to do and just provides me with a red button that take me to the onboard web content. I was able to enjoy audio podcasts and the ebook previews but videos would not play in my browser. I suspect that it is an issue with video codecs in the browser. I suggest that you use the email address under the Developer contact section here to write to VA about your poor experience with their IFE.

Useless. I travel VA almost weekly and usually don't bother with the app since the content is so poor, but gave it another go over xmas. Like many others, when I open the app I get the clunky web interface then a popup to plug in headphones, even though I have BT headphones connected. If/when I get to choose content it errors out telling me that I need to install the app - even though that's where I started! Qantas gets this right, and it's not like VA ia much cheaper anymore. Expect better.

It cant be this hard to get the app right! does your team even test the app? Never a smooth or easy experience using it. clunky, slow and painful every time. content is not easily displayed and browsing is clunky and slow! when you find something to watch it fails to play - instead you are redirected and have to open a separate browser ? why? seriously. time to get a new team of developers. i keep hoping each time i fly the app has been updated. Disappointed.

Somehow they broke a perfectly good app. Same problem as other users: the app opens a web browser; when you select a movie it tells you that you need to download the app! This has been going on for months. How is it not resolved?! Don't bother trying to uninstall and reinstall - that fixes nothing. Just uninstall and be done with it.

Awful experience on a phone. This update makes the app horrendous to use on my phone. The app now opens a web page that has the shows you can watch on it. After selecting a show it opens the app. But the site is clearly made for tablets, doesn't scroll well on a phone and is unresponsive. I now just download something to watch from netflix to watch offline. Bring back the earlier version of this app.

The entertainment app is a nightmare, it's useless now. The old app was much better, faultless. Now none of the videos work & the app is so slow and unresponsive. It's just a terrible browser page, not a proper app. I spent half the flight trying to get the browser pages to actually load, then each video would give a message that it cannot be played! Probably will uninstall if not updated soon. I'm just going to have my own entertainment downloaded on my phone prior to flights from now on.

New browser based interface is absolutely awful. Slow and riddled with errors. None of the films I wanted to watch would play. I would reboot and again sit through an ad and ratings warning before an error message would display. Used to work great, now terrible. I paid for in flight wifi so I could leave this review. Very frustrating.

edit: so, they're aware of ongoing issues and still advertise and charge it the same as a proper entertainment setup... --- Constant buffering. Can't watch movies without it paying to load every 20 seconds. Very limited selection of movies and tv shows. Much better off just adding your own movies to your device before getting on the flight.

Seemed to be working fine then suddenly it went to opening and will not play any of the media on the plane. Just keeps pausing. So totally unusable. Prior to this for a while it was saying it could not connect. So one thing fixed then it broke again with another.

The app itself is fine, it's the connection. I fly often and consistently it works for about 20 minutes, then it pauses and buffers, plays a bit more, then buffers for ever. Turning wifi or my phone off and on can help but even with that, eventually I just can't reconnect to the app at all. Same thing happens to my wife. She is on an iPhone, I'm using a pixel 3xl. This issue alone makes me prefer to fly Qantas.

I tried this on a flight from Adelaide to Melbourne yesterday and it didn't work. I thought it might have something to do with an old version, but I've since checked and everything is up to date. The app loaded in a browser window and told me to plug in headphones, even though they were already plugged in. Then the movie wouldn't play because it said I didn't have the app installed (which I did). The ad before the movie seemed to play fine. Seems like there's a bit of work to do to get this version up to scratch. It's useless until then.

Updated review. Entertainment system only "turns on" at take-off. Until then it just provides a login button and some info on the frequent flyer program. A tad confusing, but it does work. And the video quality is actually very good! (720p at a guess?). Props to the devs for keeping an eye on the app!

I didn't expect it to work after seeing the reviews but now I wonder how much of it is user error. I may have had more luck due to being a short domestic flight but it worked flawlessly. I downloaded the app using 4G on the plane, switched to flight mode, when allowed I turned on WiFi and connected to it accepting the no internet prompt (newer phone alert). Once on their network I launched the app and watched a movie with the normal announcement interruptions just like every other flight.

I have used this app before and it worked fine. But this time I got an error that said 'something went wrong and the video can't be played'. I could sometimes hear the movie but had a black screen. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, open and shut numerous times but still didn't work. If you could tell me how to fix asap, ready for my next flight, that would be great!

Web browser is clunky and buggy. Takes forever to load something and then doesnt load it properly. Switches into play view when you are trying to browse sideways really easily. Disappointing this is the only inflight entertainment on some flights. Next time I will just download some netflix content in advance.

Works fine on my Samsung S21 but i didn't have my Bluetooth ear buds so the 2 Android tablets I tried to use it on bit times it opens and a white screen and does nothing, really disappointing. I will just download Netflix movies before I fly next time.

Same issues as other recent users, opening the app takes you to web browser and then when a video is selected it says you need the app to play videos (app is already installed) and then fails to load. App is up to date. Same issue on both Android and iOS devices. Very frustrating!

Playing music, the songs repeatedly stop and won't play through 2 songs, let alone an album. Limited volume control. Available content continues to deteriorate. Can't minimise one menu on my phone. Not great navigation. Disappointing overall. Still happening VA827 15Oct19 VA352 13Sep19 VA694 13Jul19 are examples. Accessing albums & trying to play albums in music

Absolutely appalling. Tried using it on both my android phone and Windows laptop on a recent flight and it wouldn't work properly on either. The old app used to be fine and I used it on several devices without a hitch. The upgraded version which opens in a browser is rubbish.

Not all movies play in the app. I select the movie and get an error telling me to open it using the app. This is after I opened the app that redirects me to a web page to select the movie. Other movies play fine. Connectivity is usually ok on the few flights I have used it.

Absolute rubbish. Why can I see ads but then the actual content doesn't work??!! The app is up-to-date, have tried reinstalling, and still doesn't work. Can get to the browser and it plays pre-roll ads but not the actual videos... What's the point?
