the app is horrible! I love my accounts but it has gotten worse and worse as the years have gone by. I've made transfers to my reserve which then froze and went to my credit card instead which they say I cant get back itll just be a credit on my credit card. okay once is no big deal but this is 3 times now. plus countless other weird things that the app does. and it crashes constantly! I've gotten to the point that I just use the website but when I'm on the go itd be nice if it actually worked.
This app is mysterious in how it functions. Virtual Deposit is a great feature...when it works. The camera never knows what it wants, and auto capture is a crapshoot. Sometimes, entirely clear photos of checks will be rejected as unclear. You'll be told to move closer, only then to be told to move farther away. Deposit amounts will match what's on the check, but the app will tell you they don't. Oy! Easier to just drive the 40-minute round trip to deposit checks than put up with this hassle!
This app has features that are useful, but getting into the app is difficult, and in no way convenient. No compromising information is available anywhere in the app. It sometimes runs slowly, and changing when a scheduled payment is to occur doesn't always work. I also take issue with the app blacking out when switching apps. I'd like to use my phone's calculator when balancing funds. It seems like the developers are paranoid, and sacrifice utility for security.
I would rate this as a negative 10 if it was possible. I have installed and deleted this app three times. I've had the same problems everytime. It won't accept my password. It tells me that my password is incorrect even AFTER I changed it to a new one. The money preview bar won't even allow me to access it. I go into preferences and all the app does is sit there spin the little circle. When I first used this app it was great. Get rid of the updates that screwed it up.
This app has worked flawlessly for the past several years. For some reason since it updated, it constantly crashes, takes me out when I'm in the middle of transfers and checking balances. The app literally is worthless at this point I cannot log on to it at all and when I do it kicks me off and goes to a flat orange screen. Please return the app to its original version. You took something that was not broken and tried to fix it but failed horribly.
It's okay The app itself isn't bad, but the login / authentication procedure doesn't exactly inspire confidence. If you've got fingerprint authentication turned on it still prompts you for your password every time, regardless. Then, when you're entering your password, the screen flickers and flashes with every character you type. What could possibly be going on inside the convoluted source code to cause that behavior?? This is happens when marketing departments dictate engineering practices.
Locks me out and refuses to recognize my phone or password. Also, I've been getting "security" questions I've never used. Ever. This last time opening the app locked me out. Of course I have to call to fix it but it's always a holiday, weekend, after hours, or no one is available. I've been locked out for days because of the holidays. I never have trouble going through a browser on any device and it's only been the last few months this has started happening. It's very convenient when it works.
You'd think an app would work 24/7 but no, apparently there are bankers' hours for apps too, because this thing is ALWAYS down when I try to use it late at night. When it does work, it's painfully slow, because it tries to display every transaction for the past few months on one page. Still, it keeps me from having to deposit the occasional check at ATMs anymore, and that's nice.
I previously used the smart access app and it had this feature that showes you your "actual" balance that included anything that was pending and your "current" balance that only included fully processed transactions. That most definitely NEEDS to be included in this app, it's so helpful, otherwise it's really easy to overdraw your account because you never really know how much money you have. PLEASE!!!
Constantly down, been trying to check my account for days. No point in having virtual banking if you can't maintain it. I have also had multiple problems with customer support not being able to understand clear instructions that lead to the cancellation of both my cards and replacement of only one. Poor performance all around. There is absolutely no way all of their 5 stars were unsolicited.
Fantastic mobile banking tool! I use this app to easily transfer money from my Checking to Savings accounts. Mobile check deposits work perfectly as well. Just snap a picture of the front and back of a signed check and tell the app which account you want it to go in. It couldn't be any easier. PNC has been a great bank for us but I don't want to go to a branch unless it's absolutely necessary and this app helps in that way.
Basically has everything you need. I do almost all of my banking from here. One area of improvement that could be had: make it easier to navigate to the rewards page. When you click to show all rewards it brings you to some page with 3 options. Not of which are obviously the rewards page. (It's the first one)
The app works great...when PNC's service isn't down, which it seems like it always is. At least once a week, sometimes more, I get an Out of Service/Technical Error notification when trying to log in. Of course, it gives you the option to call PNC but that kind of defeats the point. I don't know if this is solely an app thing or PNC itself, but it's supremely annoying. I just want to be able to reliably look at my accounts!
It is a struggle just to login since the login button doesn't seem to work. I have to click on password box so many times to finally be allowed to enter my password. The app is slow and some areas I can not access. For example just trying to go to preferences the screen goes light and the cursor just keeps spinning. I cannot turn on money bar cause I cannot get to preferences. It's very aggreviating just trying to work the app. If it is this hard to use the app it is time to choose a new bank!
This app works most of the time, but it's a real pain when it acts up between freezing up as well as password and fingerprint authorization glitches. To those reviewers complaining about the fingerprint issue where you have to also enter your password each time, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. That resolved that particular issue for me.
The only good thing about this app is that I can do mobile deposits. Aside from that, it is usually down. Multiple times it randomly stopped recognizing my account information (pass and username) and I had to reset everything even though I knew it was correct because I keep a log of all my information. I understand we may need to change passwords for security purposes, but it never notifies me. I do not even want to get into how horrible their customer service is, but calling was a mistake.
Love this app!!! Simple and Fast convenient deposits! BUT..the reason I gave it 3 stars is because I've had issues a few times where the balance amount is incorrect and because of this i has hit with 2 non refundable charges, paying over $60. For a dollar charge and a .25 charge.. Since it has happened in the past they wouldnt refund me and I do feel it wasn't my fault but the apps.
Pretty decent app! easy to get around and move money between accounts, I just wish you could transfer to your external accounts on the app instead of having to do it on a computer. Very happy with the ability to use fingerprint login, and I havent had any issues with it crashing. works decently even in limited service!
I rely on this app a lot since PNC is not where I currently live (Nebraska). The best part about it is how easily I can deposit checks. The one improvement I would recommend would be a way to see the PNC core credit card amount and be able to make payments on it through the app. I have to get on a computer to even check my credit balance, which is inconvenient. Other than that I like the app.
Horrible. Sometimes it tells me the correct balance, others it does not. The picture taking portion for depositing checks online is frustrating at best, constantly shaking and twitching and telling me to "hold steady". And now it doesn't give me the option for Express funds anymore which is basically necessary for someone living paycheck-to-paycheck. Thinking about switching banks.
App recently started crashing for no apparent reason, even though it's not even open or in background use. Its become very slow to load and sometimes doesn't load at all. Everything is up to date, so I don't know what the problem is. Also won't allow me to sign up for zelle. It won't send me the verification code. I guess that's a PNC thing.
The app keeps having issues. On a daily basis the app has issues loading my balances, transactions, or just the general log on screen. This app use to work flawless, however as of late it works about as well as an app developed by a kindergartener. I've never had so many issues with an app before this. I have tried restarting my phone, reinstalling, resetting the info and it always has the same results. This app is junk and I hope the developers get things fixed sooner rather than later.
Very good Edit 11-9-19 - i see a lot of people have problems with deposit a check or app in general. Every now and then it'll be down for maintenance but it's like once every three months. Ive never really had a problem with deposit a check feature. I don't experience the auto-logout error. I have a Galaxy S9. I wish i could see a much lengthier transaction list instead of just "last 15" or "past 5 days" ,as youre able to on the desktop site. It does what it should tho, quick financial snapshot
After using this app for a while, my annoyance with it is reaching a tipping point. I tend to do a lot of financial stuff at night, but the app is down almost two out of every three times I try to access it. There are a few other annoyances, like the inability to manage external transfers from the app and unhelpful error messages. Though I like PNC itself, this app needs some major work. For being made specifically for mobile banking, the UX feels clunky, dated, and unreliable.
