AMAZING! Used a few times at the bar.... while I was eating. Very fun. Customers are very impressed. Especially when I ask them to scratch on the screen..... their faces are priceless, when they realize they're the one's doing the scratching on the club music....It's crazy.... Latency is minimal. It's great!! Must have WiFi connected.... Worth the $10
Needs lots of work on the connection. I have this on my Samsung J530 BUT if I navigate to another background app, then it disconnects and changed port number. This means the listed connection in VDJ8 Settings is now in error and there is no way to remove or edit it. So you add another connection and the same happens again... the connection drops and port changes. There are no settings anywhere to change - like fix the port so it doesn't change so during a set you don't get nasty surprises. Otherwise good app - years ago when it first came out I had an iPhone and the app just worked perfectly and automatically - this Android version with new modern WAPs is a pain. Even changing the Smartphone to a hotspot doesn't work as it changes port again. The only way I can see around this is to have say, a Raspberry Pi as a headless non-internet connected Wifi Hotspot with mac recognition and port translation for the only 2 connected devices. Atomix please fix this annoying disconnect problem
It halts a lot, it drops connection all the time, it never connects directly after the 1st time like it was before. Each time I switch apps on my mobile and return to vdjremote I have to manually reconnect. Version 7 was much better but now when I even switch to it most of the functions are not working in version 7. I paid money for this app and now it is getting worse.
To save money organizing our 40-year high school reunion, I was tasked with DJing the event. Problem was, I'm not a DJ. I downloaded Virtual DJ on a laptop with my entire music collection and iTunes and Bonjour installed. To my pleasant surprise, Virtual DJ recognized every playlist. Ready to roll there. I downloaded Virtual DJ Remote app. The app connected to the laptop seemlessly. The remote app remained connected the entire 4-hour event. FYI: Make sure you install Bonjour!!!
The app layout and functionality itself is fine, the problem is it disconnects from VDJ when it loses focus. When this happens VDJ assigns a different port and the app won't reconnect automatically. It's basically no use other than a quick mess about, can't use it reliably for any length of time.
The app does more or less what it says, but it constantly disconnects and the process to reconnect to the host app is tedious. Once connected its OK, lots of good features, but for the price I would have expected it to work across the board.
People are mentioning connection problems: you need the bonjour add-on for your computer as mentioned in the app description, not the latest version of bonjour. Also, check your firewall settings to see if there's anything blocking virtual DJ from your network.
It worked fine at home. But then ine FATEFUL DAY when I really needed it... It gave up on me. I couldn't go inside my VDJ filters, no matter how mny times I slided the name of the folder.... Very disappointed to not being able to select other songs to play. But other options were working like volume up n down, pause play effects.... Only I WAS NOT ABLE TO GO INSIDE ANY FOLDER TO SELECT OTHER SONGS..M :(
A great tool if you have to use the bathroom and you have wifi. The only problem i experienced was it dropped out on me. Thankfully i was at home in my bed when it happened. I just wished vdj made a phone and tablet friendly version of their main software....something with automix.
I have a Samsung Note 10 and it says it won't work on this version of android. Says it was built for an older version. it say to check for update. when i do that it say needs to connect to a pc running virtual dj. I am . so not sure whatss up.
Gotta give this 1 star but I wish I could give it lower. Doesn't work at all, crashes Virtual DJ when trying to connect, complete waste of money and there hasn't been an update since 2015! Plus I can't even get a refund from the Play Store... Thanks!
The App used to be good! After last 2 VDJ8 updates it won't work! Make the adjustments that make it work again! If you are going to charge for an app, please be sure to maintain it! And before you respond with the question, Yes I have a Pro license!
When focus is lost it disconnects. I saw the other reviews stating this and hoped it would be fixed by now. Sadly not. Therefore, about as much use as a chocolate teapot! Google Play just declined a refund request so a chargeback request is now being processed by my card issuer. I feel this app should be withdrawn or fixed because allowing orders to continue to be placed when it is not fit for purpose is fraudulent.
A update on this app would be nice since the last one was in 2005 it still crashes in that once in awhile and I still can't reconnect my remote automatically I have to put in the IP every time show your supports some love with a update it would greatly appreciated until then I only give it three stars
Very helpful app if you're multitasking while deejaying. Used it up until now where it says it was made for older android versions and there hasn't been an update for the app since 2015
Such an awful experience, i wanted something without ads, dowloaded this app onlybto be told that it is only compatible with older versions of andriods, who does that, kindly refund my money ASAP
Cannot bring up keyboard to search,no bass ,treble controls either. Please fix this guys. Update messed it up. I rely on these controls for my paying gigs.
Why all of a sudden my VDj app crashes every 20 minutes, and I can't redownload the VDj app for my android tablets and phones? It directs me to download the iRemote and pay for it! I'm paying for the VDj software and I had the remote apps for some years!!! What's going on?
Brilliant finally i can leave my pc whilst mixing, great v8 is the best more customisation simple setup follow instructions on vdj and the app is good to go great if you wanna get involved with the crowd a+++ worth the cash!! Good for the professional look too 😊
Worked fine with my T-Mobile hot spot. Internet in the bar is not strong at all. Very responsive to the touch. Great buy and addition to have! Thanks!
wont work with latest Android OS. every time I try to open it it says not compatible and to download the latest version (which I have).
extremely easy to work and absolutely no hang ups it would be cool if you could view and edit your automix playlist on the go but all and all it makes life super easy
I fixed my issue ( users must know you need "Bonjour" installed and active on both Mac and Windows PC's.) Works on wifi network or if your out "gigging" then 3g/4g/5g/ wifi hotspot your device to the device with this remote installed and works perfect. Hope it help others :-) 1world1love
Wow...this is soooooo amazing....You dont need internet just phone wifi-hotspot and macbook/laptop wifi should be open and then you can control all songs...Infact few features are really crazy...wow...I loved the max "Cut" features and openable folder option...Full 100% from me. You juat made my day. Thank you VDJ :)
A bit of a stuggle to set up so do not expect a plug & play experience. Even if you are on the same wifi network as your VDJ PC, it won't work if you are on a different frequence, ie 2g or 5g. For me it never connects automatically, I have to manual type in the remote apps IP every time to connect. As other people have mentioned, It drops connection if you move app to the background on your Android device. Additionally you also have to install some additional Apple software on your Windows PC for it to work. Considering how good the VDJ8 software is, this Android app seems to be less finished, and in my opinion lets Atomix down. It also looks like they have stopped work on it some time ago as it warns that it may not work on the latest version of Android, and if you try to look at the Changelog as advertised here, it tells you "Sorry, you don't have the necessary accreditations to view this page." Is it worth £9? For what it does, I am not sure.
