VIZIO SmartCast™

I will never buy another Vizio TV because of this app. Constantly fails. Have to delete app and reinstall. Then reconnect and set up. So when this happens it takes 15 mins to watch TV. Been going on for two years now. Latest problem is the inability to tap to select. Instead the tap acts like a swipe on the TV screen. This only happen on one of our smart phones.

I've used this app for almost 5 years and the only issue I've found is that it has a small lag between command and execution and there is no press and hold feature for things like YouTube to access the options menu. Other than that it's a great app. (Update) newest install annoys me because you have to log in every time you use it.

Could not get the app to work, would not detect my vizio TV. Half the time smartcast screen is unavailable on the TV itself. Follow vizios setup videos, trouble shooting videos and still nothing. At one point long ago I was able to cast but no longer.. most likely trying to force me into buying a new TV if I had to guess.

App doesn't connect to Soundbar after initial set up. The bar and my phone are all set to the same network and works great the first time. Then after you turn the bar off, it won't connect again to the app, even though the app knows that I had initially connected to the sound bar. Many people in the comments section for this app have been telling you the same thing for ages! The app is terrible, the system sounds good though.

This app is inconsistent. Sometimes it will work for a while, and then it just randomly stops working at all for months. I now use a different app made by a 3rd party that works better. I don't like deleting an app and downloading it 3 times in one day to get it to work. I've had this app for 2 years or so and it has never worked properly. Incase Vizio responds, I don't want your tech support link I want you to pay professionals to make an app that works properly and consistently.

Terrible app, it won't turn the TV on from the app despite the fact that it's supposed to be a REMOTE-the TV needs to already be on before you can use the app to control the TV. The Keyboard is laggy and sometimes it just outright will refuse to work with certain apps. There's a huge input delay. Just avoid this altogether.

No ads. Works with every Vizio t.v. in my home. Each t.v. has it's own device name on the app so theres no problems turning off the wrong tv in the same room like with the normal remotes. Plus there's a tab that makes my phone screen look like the original remote so it's immediately familiar. Perfect app. Does EXACTLY what I need with great additional features.

It was amazing. Flawless even.. Then my TV updated. Now I can't get the remote app to work AT ALL. Every time I try to do something a message pops up telling me that "the device is no longer connected". I did everything that I could possibly do. I tested my network connections, tripple checked that both devices were on the same wifi, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I removed "paired devices" from the TV, I even rebooted my TV. I can pair with the TV now but still get the same message.

I LOVE this app. It works GREAT when we can't find the actual remote, or don't feel like grabbing it. I did give it a 4 star rating because it sometimes won't work, like it will always turn the TV off and on and volume up and down and working the menu to change the light settings, but the arrows won't work for certain apps or apps at all. Sometimes restarting both TV and app fix it but I haven't been able to narrow down when this happens and to why but overall, GREAT APP!

Bought a refurbed Vizio TV, and the factory remote didn't work. Decided to try the app before buying a universal remote. Glad I did. Was a little awkward setting it up, but it's better than any remote I've had. Streaming from the phone to the TV is convenient as well.

The only way I can get this app to work is to do frequent uninstalls and reinstalls whenever it stops working, wich is less than a week of use.😡 update: Reinstalling won't turn on tv. I've had my vizo tv for 4 yrs and I've been installing and uninstalling this app for 4 years. Definitely getting a Samsung TV very soon.

This app only works when it wants to. I have to physically turn the TV on for the remote to work most times. Then there are times it doesn't pick up the TV at all no matter how many times I close the app then start it again. I have had to uninstall & reinstall this app to get it to work twice.

I only need this app to turn the TV on and occasionally to tamper with the picture settings. I have an Xbox and all of my TV watching is done through that, so I don't need much from the app. For what it is, it works wonderfully and far more consistently than any of the 3rd party apps I was using before I found this one.

Stops working randomly and sometimes nothing fixes it besides waiting, which is pretty inconvenient when you're trying to use the tv. Edit post dev comment: I have done all that multiple times when these issues occurred. Sometimes it doesn't work and you're stuck without a remote for however long.

I downloaded this for my Vizio Surround Sound system since my toddler loses the remote every 5 minutes. The big question: why does the app not have a capability to turn the system on? It'll adjust volume (a whole minute after hitting buttons on the app) and it'll turn it off (a minute later) BUT IT WILL NOT TURN IT ON! The system times out after about 15 minutes no sound. So if I pause to take the dogs out, guess what, the system turns off. But the app won't turn it back on. Waste of my life.

Runs wonderfully. The only thing I would change is the rewind/fast forward function. You've got to press it for each second or so you wish to go forward or back. Whereas with a normal remote you only need to hold down the button to go forward or back a decent distance. It can become quite frustrating and tedious.

Doesn't recognize my older vizio t.v. I don't really know what's wrong with this app but I have tried all the troubleshooting and it still comes up with a "problem pairing device" error. This app is totally pointless if you have an older vizio smart t.v. and have lost your remote. Now I have no idea what to do. Totally useless app.

The lack of quality in this app seems representative of Vizio's products as a whole. From extreme unreliability to banner ads delivered over broadcast TV it's impossible for me to recommend this app or any other Vizio product. No Smart TV or its app is without drawbacks, but even accounting for cost, this is among the worst. Find another manufacturer, this probably isn't the one for you.

Does the job, but unstable. 1/2 of the time, cannot find my soundbar. Have to disable the Wi-Fi on my phone, then enable it back on to detect my soundbar. Also, since today, I need to login EVERY SINGLE TIME I open the app... Stupidly annoying (last update is from April 18th, the app didn't had this issue yesterday, April 22nd...) Last but not least, might not be app related, but soundbar shuts off randomly after a little while... Totally annoying. VIZIO: STOP THE CANNED RESPONSES TO USERS!!!!!

absolutely love my phone working as a remote! somehow the phones always at our fingertips yet the remotes never able to b found.. lol :p I absolutely Fn love being able to fine tune the screen quickly, u can't go fast or consistent enough with the remote to get the picture right, with the sliders on screen u can go back n forth n quickly n easily get ur personal perfect calibration thats critical for optimal picture, every remote should have a wheel or knob for that reason thanks guys :)

I think this app would work great. The only thing is I have kept getting the message when I try to pair to my TV it says "unable to pair" and when it does work, it does not show a pin on the TV screen. I have uninstalled the app and installed it again. Please fix this some way or give me a tip.

Worked once, tv no longer responds, have tried turning off and back on, connecting an ethernet cable to it, verifying its connected to the wifi, etc. App wont even let me remove the tv to try pairing it again because i keep pressing remove and nothing happens

Works really well. Every once in a while it won't work on the YouTube app but when it does it has almost no felt so if it could just be tweaked a slight bit I'll definitely write a new review. Thank you so much for making this app, keep up the great work

I put this in to use to change input settings on my Vizio TV. It works faster and better than using the TV remote. This is really all I use it for.

Great App! After losing 3 remotes between 2 TV's, and going through probably 15 different apps, I found this one. There is more option available, than my lost remotes offered; like voice commands. Such a life saver and now the whole family uses it for our TV entertainment.

Idk if it's an issue with the app itself or just vizio tv brand in general but over Half the time it won't even connect or stay connected to the TV. Its really irritating. Not to mention theres only 2 virtual remote design options to choose from. I wish this was better but it just isn't

Super easy installation and usage. I was about to complain about it only have swipe crosshair instead of traditional remote layout but, I actually overlooked it lol... also, I really appreciate how it has a pop up full keyboard for typing! Thank you to the app creator(s), job well done.
