To configure VLC™ in your PC/Mac, just download and run the following script in your PC (only windows):
(Remember running it as administrator the first time: Right click on it and then "Run as Administrator")

Windows will ask you permission to make changes in the installation folder and allow VLC™ to access the network. Those actions are necessary for proper function, please allow them.
What does the script do?Basically, It starts VLC™ with its web interface enabled, and passes it some parameters to improve codec finding and rtsp streaming performance.

supported formats: avi, flv, mp4, mp3, mkv, wmv, jpg, mpeg, mpg, rmvb, m4v, mov, 3gp, ts, vob. (Some videos in these formats might not work because sometimes PC/Mac VLC™ can't transcode them into an android supported format -mp4 or 3gp-)

Works as intended, however, I wish there was an ability to import an existing VLC playlist from the app on your phone. Also wish you could select songs to create a playlist from within V-Direct and that there was a scrambler and a loop option. That feature to create playlists from your recently played seems pointless. Lastly, the overall appearance of the app is unappealing.
works good when you figure it out but doesn't play .mkv files it will only play the sound! considering 90% of my movies i want to stream from my PC to my tablet are .mkv files this program is almost useless to me. unless there's a way to download the proper codecs into the program or something this is only worth 2 stars to me. I emailed support waiting for a response, will give 5 stars if there's a way to get this fixed!
This app is unusable. The link to download the script for Windows goes to a server that is not up, so you can't even set VLC up to connect to it.
Struggled a bit at first to connect to my PC, but was finally successful after changing the default password on Android vlc direct and PC vlc Very pleased with the working result ! Thanks to the developers!
sort of works.. but some media (.mpg) that plays fine on vlc won't play/cast on this.."load vlc playlist: does absolutely nothing. the media folder list is a gui nightmare.. can't even read the folder & file names..
Not hard to set up and works perfectly, this has dramatically enhanced my life as I can control my standing speakers via my phone.
laggy, distorted/muffled sound and intermittent playback fails. interesting software though. maybe need source for config help...?
Worked last night. Doesn't now. Says it's playing a movie on my phone to the pc but it's not and I can't get it off there. I'll click on something else and nothing happens
A waste of time. It almost worked. Then just audio. Then nothing. W10 to Android.
Requires some patience to set up but there are great online posts to walk you through it.
Not very friendly UI. But good enough for me. Except ads.
Works better than anything else I've found. I suspect some of the problems I've had were actually on the server side.

Best streaming app. I can sit in my room and control and play videos for my kids on the pc in their room even if the file is on my own pc
Upon installation the app directs you to a non-existant website to set it up. Useless.
Lots of bugs, terrible service, but it works

the max volume is a lil bit low
It's pretty good all round. It does what it's needed for, but there are a few flaws. The interface looks very dated and the file browser doesn't make sense. You can't browse for specific folders, you can only look at the folders that the app itself picked.
