The app reads with the word highlighted. But the pages don't scroll automatically. So the app continues reading outside the visible area and I can't see where the app is reading. Also I don't manage to get the sentence highlighted in a pdf, only the word, but with a square around the word, not with a highlight of the word. If I transfer the pdf to text only, all headers disappear, and all paragraphs breaks disappear

It was excellent until last update. I was not able to open the app again. I uninstalled it and reinstalled again but everything was gone. Opened files, bookmarks, highlights, notes, voices. Everything!!! What is wrong? This is so bad. I hope I can get back everything again. Already sent email to support. How is this even possible. Excellent reader app but bookmarking, highlighting and saving notes is awful. Why wouldn't save these in the file for portability?

Their customer service is awesome! However the Android app needs a lot of work to be done still to live up to their iPhone app. The voice settings I set up reset every time I closed and opened the app or a new story, even though it was defaulted to it. Unlike the iPhone app I was unable to have a plain and advanced text option, no folders to organize different files in, and so on. In short, all I ask is that the Android app is the same as the iPhone app lol.

I use this text-to-speech app to read my DRM-free ebook collection to me while I exercise, clean the house, and drive. It is, by far, the best text-to-speech app I've found for that purpose. Specifically, I like the high quality voices that hardly ever mangle the pronunciation of the non-fiction books I mostly read. I also love that it has lots of features but a simple and intuitive interface. Well done.

I find this app extremely helpful reading pdfs of articles and books. It has greatly improved my reading speed and comprehension. I can now read two academic articles on the bus to school/work, when previously I struggled to get two a day. Some skill is required to format scanned materials for reading. Large documents are slow and may cause crashing on low power tablets, but resolution must be high enough for effective text recognition (poor OCR is not a fault of the app). Some functions of the android version still require improvement. Highlights, bookmarks and notes do not seem to carry over with the document in other applications. When reading the document from dropbox or similar clouds, it would be nice if such changes were saved on the cloud. On iPads the sentence that is being read is highlighted, but only the highlight of the read word works for android. There are a few other small issues, but the app is nevertheless very useful.

****Review Update**** I uninstalled the app and reinstalled and was presented with the ability to download and use voices again. Top Tip - NEVER update this app once you get it to work. It may never do so again. Used the app over 8 years on IOS and Android. Very useful. The latest update lost all of my voices with no ability to use text to speech.

Does exactly as it claims. Reads PDF so I am able to focus better during my studies and haven't had any issues with it skipping lines or paragraphs and it even reads the statistical results, which is kind of funny. Not sure where it supposedly said that webpage or certain documents could be read but for what I paid, it was well worth getting an application that actually does what it says it will do. More languages would be helpful

The only things I can save to VD are PDFs or some other types of documents. Getting web pages to save seems impossible. Pocket and browser import both do not work. I thought they were functioning, but it only saves a small first part of any article. Two stars for hope. Easily five stars if the app functioned. I'm very disappointed. It seems the developer is just taking money and no longer maintaining the app...

Good concept, but buggy. (This review is for version 3.8.0 on A20e with the latest OS, android 10). The large voice Sharon US is better than the stand-alone engine for the same voice, very good at 200 wpm (10% plus). The interface is changed to bluish borders and buttons, looks good, and it didn't mess up my settings for textview. After the recent updates PDF view with voice-cursor-highlights works again (just for words regardless of settings). Text view for PDF still does not follow w

For iOS, I love what voice dream does for me. For Android: bare-bones, terrible. I'm a writer who likes to have my writing read back to me. I also like adding books, so I can have a reader read along with me as I read. 5 stars there! For Android, I'm having trouble with simple copy/paste, considering the option is to paste from a browser only (yes you can try to share and head to Voice Dream, but try doing that with an email. UX is lacking, and I know the Devs can do better.

I purchased it because I had relied on that reliable, excellent, and totally fascinating Voice Dream Reader all throughout graduate school, enabling me to read anywhere and any time tomes of research and critical papers, including literary gems. Now that I've switched to an android phone, I will use Legere to go through my reading list every year. I'm so glad that all those excellent and functional features that distinguished Voice Dream will again make my reading experience, not a burdensome chore, but a joyous journey, especially now that my vision problem is becoming quite a challenge. I'm glad that android users have been given the opportunity of using a TTS reader like Legere that will surpass all their expectations, meet their needs, and help them relish a lifetime of enjoyable and life-enriching reading.

Coming from iOS. This android version is still very primitive. Voice choosing doesn't work during the first run. Click on "free" beside Sharon and nothing happens. Hope you guys can eventually make it as good as its iOS counterpart. Will five star once you get the voice bug fixed. Keep up the good work!

The voices are great, much better than standard TTS. However the app is pretty poor in formatting files. Anything that's not standard text line is just messed up. The current reading page also did not update properly, leading to constant scrollling down to find where you actually are.

I've been using this app a lot on another email account for about 2 years. This app works like a charm I think. I like how I can just use it and read websites it works excellent on websites. It'll read articles and other things right directly from a website. Just click the share and select this app and it'll read it.

Application is very good only the integration with book share login screen is slightly buggy.. It takes lot of system resources on the mobile phone to read pdf in the natural style. I am unable to zoom into the PDF while it is reading in the PDF view When i zoom into the PDF the focus highlighting does not follow as well - I need to zoom out and only then can I use and see the focus highlighting as it reads through the PDF

Updated app works. if you are having specific problems that you can replicate then research out to the developers they are nice and rely back fairly quickly with help or an update. over the course of several years I have been using this app any time I had an use with an update I reached out and they took care of it. I have went from 4 stars, to 2 stars to 3, down to 1 and back up to five stars over the years lol. Note 9 Android 9

It's pretty good, but I had purchased several voices and now need to pay for them again because I re-installed the app after it glitched and I had to uninstall it! What's up with that? It seems like your purchases are only temporary for this company, so I don't recommend to install it until they clear up what's going on with that.

I bought this in iOS and got the android one too. Complete disaster. I only used this to read Chinese html. It worked in iOS. But it couldn't even import the html in android. When it does, the fonts are symbols. I accidentally uninstall during my first purchase which ended up in a refund. So I reinstall it. Didn't expect that it can't work at all. Can I request for a refund?

D. R. Aug 28, 2020

I don't have all the advertised app functionality - I can't add epubs to the app from my device library (an error shows saying that they're an incompatible file type), I don't have the option to add content from cloud sources such as Dropbox or Google drive, from Gutenberg, etc, or from the clipboard.

Cal. B. Oct 2, 2020

This software did not work on any devices I owned at the time of purchase. The developer avoided emails requesting a refund for two months. App worked on new phone for a few months, but no longer. If you purchase the app, test it on your devices within 48 hours so you can refund through google if needed. The developers do not follow ToS. The voices are more natural than the stock google voices, but their ability to process the English language accurately is somewhat lacking compared to stock.

This android version is worse than the iOS one. Why is it so much better on iOS than here on Android? It stops a lot suddenly and you have to start the tts again all the time. The way ui is so much different from iOS and a lot of things are missing from Android version. There's so much missing in Android version and we have to pay for this the same price. This is a shame. I really like the the iOS version compared to this one.

Absolute garbage not intuitive at all. Wanted to use for law school, downloaded several cases in pdf form all said the pdf had no text.... Tried using the website add could not figure out what to do just opened a browser navigated to the site and no way to import it. Even saw that you could use pocket but would not allow me to use the app had to use the website for pocket which was very unmanageable from a phone... just could not get it to work, immediate refund.

App no longer works. I open it and it just has the blue screen with the icon and 3.3.6 on the bottom. Now it says 3.3.7 since I updated it. I've restarted my phone in hopes that this would help, but it still doesn't work. Disappointed to have paid for this.
