Voice Wiki

Specialized Wikipedia voice and speech client for your mobile device. It responds to your voice search command and turns the online Wiki encyclopedia into an audio book. It also supports saving articles for offline reading.
Important: the text to speech feature depends on speech engine. The default Android speech engine may not support your language of choice, if so you need to install a third party speech engine (and data files) such as "SVOX Classic". You may also need to go to "Settings" to properly configure your speech engine.

Key features:1) Wikipedia voice search, Wikipedia text to speech.2) Shake to start voice search.3) Voice command to jump to a Web link.4) Easy navigation in article, automatic scroll to a section by selecting an item in table of contents.5) View the same article in different languages
- good for learning a new language. Can be used as a multi-language dictionary.6) Autocomplete in search box. 7) Optimized speed, fast response.8) Save articles for offline reading.

Operations are easy: shake your phone to start search, long press on screen to bring up table of contents. On Text View, you can tap on screen to start/pause speech; swipe on screen to navigate through the paragraphs. On Web View, you can double tap on screen to toggle the search bar.

If you have any problem using this software, please don't hesitate to drop me a line at [email protected] and I'll try my best to help you.

Almost perfect, however there are some issues. 1st, whenever you see a list of search results you cannot always go to a certain result - the app doesn't let you go any further. Sometimes you have to go to the previous screen or even restart the app, which is highly inconvenient. 2nd, if you tap the 'go back' button, the app attempts to close instead of going to the previous screen. Please add the language select option everywhere (search, etc, not only on top of the wiki page). 'Upgrade'?

I've used this app for years now and I did buy(at another store!) a pro version but that disappeared a few years! It's a great app and very convenient indeed, especially for sensitive eyes and it will improve your vocabulary!

Impossible to open any page except for the Featured Article homepage. Search function is completely unresponsive. This app is a good concept, but is far too broken to be considered worth your time.

I love the idea but the app has no play navigation and poor HTML filtering, sometimes it just speaks jiberush, and no share feaure. Fixing these two thing would be worth 2 stars at least

As a commuter spending two hours on the road per day, this has become an invaluable app. My only complaint is that it wasn't available 50 years ago when I was going through school!

None of the articles load. Beside the home page, all other articles seem inaccessible.

I found what I want.

Almost brilliant - but it can't handle exponents in scientific articles eg 6 * 10^-2 - it ends up with a massive nunber then a spade suit, then the exponent (eg see Atom). Readable (another voice wiki app) handles exponents okay but doesn't have the features of voice wiki such as pause and the ability to navigate sub sections. Other than that, it is just what I am looking for.

Stumbled on this wanting to do chores but not in the mood for music! I love Wikipedia and the articles can become so humorous read in google's deadpan voice 😂 One qualm I have is that the reader skips parenthetical info (like this) and sometimes reads unnecessary numbers and letters. Is there a setting for the parenthetical reading? I can't find anything in the menu
