Volume in Notification

Volume in Notification is intended for use on devices running Android 3.0 and up.
This app puts a media volume and mute control in the Notifications window that can be accessed from the status bar on your device. It lets you adjust the volume without using the hardware volume button and without exiting the app that you're currently running. For example, you can adjust the volume of a video directly from the Notifications window while continuing to watch the video.

We developed this app because we often find it hard to use the hardware volume button on a tablet, depending on its orientation and how we have it set up in the stand. We hope you find it useful too!

Note: This app will only control media volume. In general, media volume includes music, video, and game sounds.

To use: Tap on the app icon and select Activate. This will put the volume control into the Notifications window. On the status bar, tap on the time or pull down the Notifications window to access the volume control.

To close: Tap on the app icon and select Deactivate.

Important:
• This app does NOT have any ads. If you are seeing ads in your Notifications window, then they are being put there by a different app.
• Make sure that a task killer or other phone/battery/memory manager app isn't killing Volume in Notification or preventing it from running at startup.
• If the volume control does not display in the Notifications window, make sure that notifications are turned on for your device under Settings > Apps > Volume in Notification > Show notifications (check the box). Note: This setting is available for Android 4.1 and up only.
• On Android 5.0+, to hide the volume control on your lock screen, you must:1) In Volume in Notification, check "Hide on lock screen"2) On your device, set a screen lock such as a PIN or password3) On your device, hide sensitive content under Settings > Sound & notification > When device is locked > Hide sensitive notification content
• To hide the status bar icon:1) For Android 5.0+, turn "Priority" OFF under device Settings > Sound & notification > App notifications > Volume in Notification > Priority2) In Volume in Notification, set the priority level to "Min" and tap "Activate"
• Tapping the Mute button will allow you to mute and unmute the volume.
• It's not possible to put a sliding volume bar in the Notifications window.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Just what I needed, now I can control the volume on my lock screen. I just turn on the screen & tap volume up or down or mute, then turn the screen back off. My physical volume buttons no longer function on my LG G5, so this is about as close as I can possibly get to having actual buttons. I was having to unlock my phone everytime & use the drop down screen to adjust the volume before. This simple app will save me so much time! Again, YES!

Nice app. Used it before I upgraded to a Pixel because my volume buttons broke. I do have an issue with it not updating volume values after I manually change it with the buttons, though. I am not in power saving mode or anything like that that would interfere with the app, but it doesn't update the values anymore. EDIT: Fixed.

it's a handy app which I've used on two phones now. My latest, a Note 8 running Android 8.0 requires the app to be reactivated frequently. It just switches itself off and disappears from the notification panel. It never did this on Android 6. I have the app in my list of 'do not kill' apps so my phone isn't putting it to sleep.

REPLY: Not high priority. All but low. UPDATE - Not such a great answer. Causes volume control to float up and down, requires scrolling, never in the same place. Suggestion. Allow one with NO status bar but notification priority. Shoppong for alt. Prior rating: Good answer. Rating now changed. Maybe in future release show what differences are fir the 5 options when inside app choosing notify settings? ORIGINAL - Works great, BUT could you add some way to not take up room on the status bar.

Beautiful and good dark mode. But paralyzes speakerphone use on phone calls on my blackberry key one oreo 8.1 so i sent an email to the address below to see if there's a fix... uninstalled... UPDATE: and yet there it is, with app installed and not enabled, speakerphone feature is normal; with app activated, speakerphone not functional. That being for my device running stock android 8.1 version. The keyone is stock android... i will look at the other suggestion by booting in safemode then...

Works great for me! Although, I would prefer a slide bar instead of up button and down button (it's easier with a slide button). Can you make this a selectable feature for the next upgrade? I'm using Galaxy S9+ with Android version 8.

I like it very much, but it tends to "bleed" short bursts of sound, possibly from other apps. I've checked all apps and notication, permissions, etc. settings possible, buy only way to stop this is by uninstalling..wish otherwise

Thanks for your response. My issue is mute icon on the app is not working in the Notification area. I can use the phone button to mute. So no issue. You may need to upgrade your app. This is just out of box phone.

Just what i was looking for! and works great with my Huawei m5 pro 8.0 oreo. Early Android use to have volume in notifacation bar! but not anymore! this app will restore that! i like the volume in the notif. bar. tho a slider would be better! but i don't mind the buttons either! Awesome App.my thanx to Devs for it being free!

Terrific. Simple. Fast. Now I don't have to keep fumbling with the side volume controls that are hard to manage on my phone case. Does exactly what I want it to, nothing more. Perfect!

Thank you so much for this app. I purchased a cover for my tablet and really struggled to access the volume controls. This has solved my problem brilliantly. Easy to use with a simple no nonsense interface. Absolute heaven. I love you. X

I have an older Android tablet that's fine for watching videos, but the hardware volume buttons no longer work reliably. This app is a perfect solution.

Extremely light. No ads. Almost zero RAM and battery usage. The best of all those apps that do similar jobs. p.s. I'm compelled to write a review for an app for the second time in 9 years of using Android.

Really found this useful after my volume buttons broke. It's a shame it has been discontinued. I just upgraded to a new phone and I haven't been able to find an alternative that is as simple and elegant.

Excellent app. Plus Ad free which is an icing on the cake. My volume buttons have pretty much gone bad and this app works well as a substitute. Dev, keep up the good work.

Best fudging volume control. I was looking for a widget but this works even better. Gwt this instead. Get it☺️ Edit: It doesn't show up on my notification any more. I am not sure if it's because of the app or because I rooted my phone. Response to Developer: It's working now. thanks

Totally convenient. My volume button on my phone has jammed and this app has saved my life. Now I just control my volume in the notifications log. Nice job on the app, keep up the great work. Still going good.

I was looking for an easy to use sound app for media only to use on my Galaxy Tab S4. I came across this app which has excellent reviews so I decided to try it. I have to say that it's brilliant and it does exactly what it says. I can't believe it's free and it doesn't have any ads. Thanks to the developer!

Mute button needs to show the status of the device being in "muted" instead of 0. This would make it less confusing and would help allot to know whether iv turned the volume down to 0 or its muted and why its showing 0. Thanks

Volume control and mute- when and where I want all from lockscreen and/or notification bar. Takes up such little space, doesn't require ANY permissions, and best of all- is free.

A. G. u. Oct 11, 2018

Yes. Exactly what I was looking for. Volume control was removed from notification on newer devices and YouTube doesn't have volume control... thus fixes that.

Zak. J. Jan 25, 2019

Perfect. Works exactly as you would expect. The only problem is the annoying symbol in the status bar which should be removed in a future update otherwise I wouldn't mind paying for this app.

Solved my problem! I have a bug in my phone changing my UP volume control into locking my phone. This app gives me a normal volume control, Perfect. Thank you!

Has been really laggy since last Android update. Worked great before, but currently wont respond most of the time. Will tap button and volume wont change for 15-30 seconds, or respond at all. Currently running Android 9 on Galaxy S8 and app is up to date

Hi, this app really helped me a lot! My volume buttons were actually didn't function due to excessive use (both!) and I found this app to adjust the volume without the buttons! Thanks for creating this app!

In my five years of Android this app has been a lifesaver if I could rate 10 Stars I would. But if there's anything to note and it does hide from the notification bar when it's locked but not if you have a flip case for your device. Nevertheless 5/5
