Volume+ (Volume Boost)

JELLY BEAN (ANDROID 4.1) USERS PLEASE READI've been waiting until I could get my hands on a SGS4 to update the description. This application has always worked via exploiting a bug in Android's MediaServer, which is why there has never been any other applications like it (that can boost the volume of system sounds) on the Play Store. Google seem to have completely patched this exploit as of Android 4.1+. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about this; Volume+ will no longer work on newer devices. Some devices running 4.1 CAN make use of this application (Samsung Galaxy S 3 international, HTC One X, etc.) but the majority will not. Most phones running pre-JB firmware will still be able to use this application as normal.
Sorry about this everyone but there's nothing I can do anymore, NO AMOUNT OF DEVELOPMENT WILL EVER GET THIS WORKING AGAIN. Google broke it!

Please note; Incompatible devices running certain custom firmwares may still be able to make use of this application.

This application can be downloaded for FREE on my website along with beta builds that have not yet been released.

Thanks.

Tested and Fully working on the Samsung Galaxy S III!! (Doesn't currently work on the Sprint Version. No idea why.)

This application was designed primarily to boost the volume of a wired headset. Whilst it will boost the main loudspeaker volume, it may not be as prominant. Please bare this in mind.

Millions of people blame bad headphones for low-quality music, well put the blame where it belongs; your phone and the audio software. Volume+ can fix the issue system wide. Using Volume+ your phone will get a boost in bass, treble, and if you're using our presets, you can finally experience the quality of music that you truly deserve. Being system wide, Volume+ works with Google Music, Pandora, Slacker, and every other music software on your device (that doesn't have a built in EQ). Volume+ might not get you the same experience that you get with those over priced headphones, but what we can promise you is that for $2, you will get music that is finally worth listening to.

There may be issues on certain custom ROMs.

This software does not function the same on every ROM out there, we personally recommend using a Cyanogen Mod 7 or MIUI ROMs, but we do try our best to optimize our software for all software versions. Stock users message us if you're not getting an improved experience.

We highly recommend you use this with caution because while we do allow you to literally go crazy with the way you hear your music, you can seriously damage your hearing and possibly lose it. So please don't go crazy with our application, we want you to enjoy yourself not hurt yourself (please see disclaimer below).

DISCLAIMER:By downloading this application you agree to the fact that, as this app exploits the EQ API included in Gingerbread and it is not meant to be achieved under normal circumstances, I am NOT to be held responsible for anything negative that may occur, such as breakage to your phone or phone's speaker.I will also take no responsibility for any damage that may occur to your hearing. This app will allow you to boost the volume of the headset, bluetooth headset and modify the inbuilt EQ settings. As a result, you can now increase the volume of the headset/bluetooth headset way above the recommended maximum and so, may cause permanent damage to your speaker and/or hearing.

I wasn't gonna rate bad because I understopd that they needed time to make in compatible with jelly bean... But it's kinda been 3 months now with no word if a fix will ever come. I expect a refund if you're not gonna update this app to work with any android device running anything above ICS

Just taken my Nexus 7 on its first overseas trip and was looking forward to watching movies on the plane. However sound quality was poor against the noise of the aircraft cabin. Installed this app in time for the return journey and wow what a difference, this is a must have app. I also put it on my newly Jelly beaned S3, works well on both. Big thanks to the developer.

Well i decided to commit and buy the app after viewing many others. Honest answer its it works, plays my music much louder without distortion unless i go up to volume 20 which is max. Good features and easy to use. Keep the app at volume 10/14 then use your volume rocker to adjust.

Constantly loses my EQ settings. **Google should remove abandoned apps, or honest devs should post they have lost enthusiasm for keeping up with Google and their ever changing devices. I can totally understand giving up when you have a functioning app and then Google just keeps changing everything with each update. But it would be nice to know when this happens.

I am running IceColdJelly 4.2.2 on an HTC One X and thought I would try this as I was fed up with the low speaker volume. I installed the free version first to try it out and the sound gains were immediately noticeable. So much so that I bought the paid version for the extra features. I've only tried out the speaker boost but what a remarkable difference. Thank you for a wonderful app.

Works great with phones that use sane audio drivers. Some of the cheaper phones I've run it on were unhappy but works fine on my SGS3. People that complain about compatibility - you have 15 mins to test and refund. If you can't test this application in that time, you need to go back to feature phones. Note Google made this impossible in Jelly Bean onwards, not the developer. If you want the functionality back, petition Google.

I just upgraded my cell, HTC EVO 4G that I got when it just came out to HTC EVO 4G LTE. It works the same on both cells. Worked good in earlier version. New update doesn't work at all. I've been using this app for 2 years and was very happy with it. Please fix it. I'll check back for a new updates. Till then, I have to find a app that works. HTC EVO 4G LTE

Does nothing. Waste of money. My bigger beef is with Google. I requested a refund after trying out this piece of garbage app and every time I hit the refund button it couldn't complete the request. Now, it's over the time limit and Google /the app creator gets two free bucks and I'm assed out with no app.

UPDATE: You need to be rooted on 4.2.2 for this to work properly. If you install another eq program or turn music fx back on you have to wipe dalvic first for it to work. If you go back to this program same thing. But this works and that's all I care about. Just wipe dalvic and cache. Just installed again. I am using PA ROM on nexus 7. It works if you install, then enable speaker boost, then disable music fx app in app manager, then reboot. I set it at 17% boost. Works great.

Maybe all of these bad reviews from Jellybean users will motivate you. It's been months. Give us an update or a refund. Don't blame it on Google. If your going to develop an app for Android (an OS that is constantly changing) be able to keep up or don't charge users to have a broken or half-usable app. I'll change my rating when it works.

I am by far no novice when it comes to Information Technology, or Telephony. This application simply does not function as would be expected. My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was completely oblivious to the modifications Volume+ claims to have made. I even went as far as trying the advanced root options with no success. I would like a full refund.

With his excuse, makes it sound to me like it's my fault that he has a issue with jelly bean. Get off your "Holiday" and get back to work! It's a scam to charge for a broken app, acknowledge that there is a problem and do nothing about it.

Eri. G. Jul 17, 2013

Update: Came back to check on the app to see if anything had changes. Sadly it is still broken on JB, but at least the developer updated the description to explain what is going on. While it makes me sad, I understand. Older: This app used to be essential. Now it is broken on jelly bean and no word has been heard from the developer for some time. Maybe it is permanently broken, but it would at least be nice to know what is going on.

Zom. Dec 11, 2014

Bought the app originally because it worked. Now the app no longer works. States because of Jelly Bean issues. I'm sorry to say this not true. Nexus 5 real volume booster works well past Jelly Bean. I would ask for help and collaborate with other developers. I do not hate this app.

Sim. M. Jul 31, 2013

I feel bad for the dev. He found a vulnerability in Android and exploited it to create a really useful app. He couldn't have known that it'd eventually be patched. Probably should have had a warning, but that's all. When you pay for an app (as I did) this is a risk, the goalposts can move and devs can't always fix things - the entire premise of this app was that one exploit.

ree. h. Feb 10, 2014

OK look a lot of dumb people rate this a low rating and its only because they have no idea what they are doing. U must meet the requirements for it to be comparable. PS if it by chance is comparable it will make ur phone as loud as u can dream . ps also to loud will break speakers

A. G. u. May 8, 2013

I think you should give it a try, if it works with your phone or your ROM if your rooted then keep it. So far it doesn't work for me on stock ROMs like the directions say but on customers ROMs that you remove the stock DSP app you are good to go. Read people read!

Worked great for a while. Now my volume is low even maxed out at 20. A month or two O.K. but 6 months later still no update. Sounds kinda shady to me. I think dev has given up on a update. Too bad was a good app. Now just a waste of money.

Prior to 4.2, this was an excellent app. I often watch videos on my Nexus 7 whilst on my commute, and this added just the edge to make videos remain audible over the sound of passing trains and chatter from other passengers. However lately its simply stopped working. Increasing the volume beyond the usual limit - the key function of this app - has no effect whatsoever. In fact, I found uninstalling it resulted in a better volume. In addition, whilst it was installed a faint hissing sound was produced, again, when the app was uninstalled the sound quality was much better. The producer of Volume+ has asked to not be given low votes, but I can't in good faith give this a high vote. It simply doesn't work anymore. If its fixed, and I hope it is, it would deserve a better vote.

A. G. u. Oct 17, 2012

Just downloaded and from the first tap it didn't work. Force close, reboot the phone and still the same problem. Using Xperia P with PowerAmp. Changed the volume control settings in PA first and went to start setting up V+ but I couldn't get in. Please fix. Don't mind rating, I'll rate it properly asa it'll work for me. Thnx!

A. G. u. Sep 23, 2012

Works great on stock Nexus 7. I skipped the free version based on other reviews to get an easy fix. Well worth the $1.99 price to be able to hear my device. Sound can get a little distorted if you play it to loud but that's the speaker on the device not the app. Fine tune it to the perfect level and you're set! Thanks Meltus!

Jam. B. Jan 6, 2013

Not everthing works on this app for the Sprint S3, But it nailed what I needed. Plays music and Audiobooks LOUD through my Semi Truck speakers (Aux Plug In). Go to HEADSET SETTINGS, AUDIO MODIFICATIONS, SIMPLE VOLUME BOOST, SET AT +15 BABY! Enjoy!

A. G. u. Nov 2, 2012

Took a bit to tweak, DB level adjustments a bit inconsistent throughtout eq band for me. Not sure if it is my galaxy s deuce or what. For any level. But hiding within adjusting levels is a great sound. My Beyerdynamic headphones are loving it. That's what matters

Tried free version with KitKat (4.4.4), and it definatly boosted an HTC Desire Eye. Have HD voice here, but volume was still low with some connections on bluetooth headset. With this app, don't even have to turn it to high, I can hear people again. Thanks for doing this. It is a shame that a user has to do so much to get basic funtionality in a phone. Update: having now had this over a week, it is definitely increasing the volume, in bluetooth, handset and speaker phone. Graphic equalizer has no effect. Despite the mixed reviews and possible incompatibility with newer phones, you have nothing to lose trying the free version if your current phone is not loud enough.

A. G. u. Dec 13, 2012

This app was great but since JB its a disappointment. Too bad I picked up the paid version. Reading is fundamental. **update** since jb 4.2.1 now Bluetooth volume boost doesn't work. No updates from create what so ever.

Jer. D. Aug 16, 2014

After experimenting and comparing this app with the others I still consider Volume+ the most effective volume booster for android. Let me share how it works. After installation go to Root Tool & choose Agree & Continue. Under In-Call Step option type 65 or higher then apply and reboot device. After reboot go to Speaker settings and check audio modification then select volume level. Choose between +15 to +17 (depends on you preference); under Bass Boost & Echo/Delay choose +8. Follow the same procedure for Headphone & Bluetooth. Reboot your phone & start using, you will notice an improvement in your earpiece and headphone volumes. Please take note that this is applicable only for rooted androids.

I used this app on my old phone, the Samsung G S4 because it needed it. My LG G3 has phenomenal sound out of the box. But I was listening to some tunes and figured let me give this app a try and I am completely blown away by the sound quality and separation with not a hint of distortion. It is loud and clear. The best way I can describe it is it is as if I have headphones on but I don't, I hope that makes sense. Try out different settings and be sure to uncheck the first box when done to hear your sound!

Joh. C. Mar 28, 2013

Used to be a five star app for boosting the tiny out out on galaxy nexus. Not sure if android updates have made this up pointless on my phone but the speaker is louder when the app is uninstalled or turned off. Dev said he would fix has all most been half a year since its been update ! Avoid until it works
