Vonage Extensions

I have tried to use this app for years. I have Vonage in my house but I travel extensively. The app is WORTHLESS when you travel. I have Skype and WhatApp. They both work perfectly when I travel but the Vonage app is useless. Calls never come through and going out just as useless. I can compare calling with other VOIP applications at the same time on the same connection and Vonage is always the loser. How can Vonage offer this poor product? The home connection is OK but the mobile app just gets in the way. You hear something going on and words here and there but never enough to understand. Also I need my connection for verification from banks etc and I can never even hear 6 digits in a row. An infuriating app.

UPDATE...I waited 24 hours, per the suggestion, and cleared app storage and cache...am now in and seems to be functioning correctly. I must say that 2 years is a long time between app updates and Vonage cusomer service is for the birds... Original one star review: Not able to register app...says can't connect to Vonage network and to try later. Another phone that is registered can make calls but doesn't receive them...sigh!

The application is back working on Android 10. Took almost a year for this to be fixed. I can now answer phone calls when my land line rings. The phone screen comes to the front, with the answer call screen. I can now answer calls. Why did it take almost a year for this to be fixed. It was running fine on Android 9, then broken on Android 10. Total disbelief by the support, then eventually fixed, but no feedback from their support. Will it work on Android 11? Let's hope.

Allow me to add my annoyance that the app doesn't work with Android 10. Once I got the latest updates, I can no longer answer phone calls. The mobile phone rings, but no pop-up appears. I can even launch the app while the phone is ringing, but I am presented with the ability to END the call, but there's no way to answer it. The only reason why this review is two stars, and not one, is because I can at least use it to place calls. This is especially useful if at work or traveling. However, it fails to turn off the screen when you hold the phone to your ear, which means it registers any touches by your cheek. This causes random things to happen to the phone while you're talking. This means you can only really use the app in speakerphone mode or with headphones to place calls. With the plethora of other reviews bringing down the average rating on this app, I would think Vonage would be interested in, at least, making some kind of statement to let their users know that either they're working on the problem or that they're abandoning the app. The resounding silence is deafening.

Pretty good and nice, it does what it's supposed, fairly easy to use, have missed a call here and there, maybe because there is a bad connection, but for the most part works well...would love to have a feature to have no sound to the keypad, it is too long every time you press a key to dial a number, so being able to lower the volume, change it or all together get read of the keypad tone would make it a 5 star app for me...it's me being picky but it is just too annoying, feels like slo-mo

Extensions app no longer receives calls. After Android 10 update I can no longer recieve calls. It rings, but the notification screen that allows you to answer does not pop up. I guess there is no more development for the app, so getting rid of the service is the only option. I suggest people being ignored speak with your money and get something that works!

If I can give this negative starts, I would. As many others have mentioned, we can no longer answer calls after the Android 10 update. The call will ring but there is no pop-up, so I have to look for and manually open the app, then there is no green button to answer the call. So frustrating! It has been many weeks and there is still no fix in place. This app is useless and I'm already considering switching to another carrier. It's too bad because this app worked perfectly before.

This app is unreliable. Each time an Android update takes place it is hit or miss as to whether the app will even ring on my phone. With Android 10 the phone rings, but there is no answer option displayed on the screen. I need to open the app to see the answer option. Developers are given advance access to the OS updates for phones, so there is no excuse why they are not proactive in ensuring their app continues to work after a new OS version is pushed to the phones. This is now the 3rd time in 2 years that I've determined I cannot depend on the Vonage app. With prices creeping up every year and quality going down, what exactly am I paying for Vonage?

A Good Idea, Executed Badly: just for it to ring through you have to leave it open in recent apps and open it once, anytime you restart your phone. I've missed dozens of calls due to this. Never happened years ago when I first started using this app; same cell phone. I even have power saving off for this specific app... still doesn't work. PLEASE update and note the fix with the Android update. thanks!

It gives me a way to make free calls when out of state or even out of country. It's not 100% reliable. Occasionally a call will disconnect or not connect on the first try. Quality of audio is good most times but can cut out. I honestly don't know if it's the app or the internet connection though. Overall it's good enough to keep using while away from home. If it was my daily driver I'd be looking for something better...

So it appears that people have been complaining about the incompatibility with Galaxy 10 for about 5 months now, yet nothing seems to have changed. You would think that this would be a priority for their developers. Too bad I didn't read these reviews before complaining to Samsung. One important note that I can make to those upgrading their phone, DO NOT ALLOW SOFTWARE UPDATES to your new phone. When I first got the phone, the app still worked perfectly, but once I got to about the 2nd or 3rd update, the app went wonky! So, developers, take note, it's something in one of the android software updates that is causing the bug in your software. Well, I hope they fix this soon before I drop their service, because not being able to answer phone calls makes this a completely useless service for me.

I love this app because: (1) it will display my name, as well as phone number, to the called party. (2) I have the option of displaying my mobile or home phone number, whichever I prefer, to whomever I'm calling. (3) I can place calls over Wi-Fi or LTE, whichever is best, wherever I am. When calling on the phone's pre-installed phone app, through my cellular carrier, "Wireless Caller" is all that's displayed for name, along with my phone number, but there are those among us who won't answer a call from an unfamiliar name or number. Vonage and my MVNO, together, provide me with the very best combination of quality, performance and value!

UPDATE 2020-02-21: After complaining, Vonage has restored my ability to make and receive calls with this App, but it can't display over other Apps or the lock screen. That is useless. This has been a brilliant App since I first started using it in 2015. However, since updating to Android 10, I can no longer answer calls because it does not display on the screen. It rings but by the time I have unlocked the phone and opened the App manually the call has gone. Grrrr. MINUS 5 STARS

The app doesn't work, the phone rings showing a black screen that doesn't allow you to answer the call. Totally useless; obviously the app was not properly tested or vetted before being released to the public. May have to cancel my Vonage service... cause I've moved and can't find third box to reconnect things so I thought I'd use the app in the meantime but as started earlier... it's completely, totally and utterly USELESS.

Dreadful. None of the call forwarding features work reliably. Often only my cellphone will ring (Vonage landline doesn't ring at all) and if I answer the call on my cell, the caller usually cannot hear me. I can always hear them, but they hear nothing. It's embarrassing since I use Vonage for my small business. I have to switch off the simul-ring/forwarding services when I'm home to try to ensure the call at least reaches the landline phone. Really poor service. Very disappointed.

23 July. . Still no separate ring tone option. Makes it hard to like this app. Downgrading my review. 22 Jun 2020 - Still can't change the ring tone! We need to be able to set a different ring from the mobile ring. It worked well on the S6. (Edit 12 Jun 2020 - after reading here the app is fixed, I tried again... Yes! Calls can be answered!)

While having the ability to make And receive VoIP calls using the Vonage plan from my cell is great, the call quality using the app is terrible, even with a wifi6 ap 10ft away. Constant breakup on outgoing audio. Using the Vonage adapter on the same network works great. I have gigabit FiOS with great low latency that scores very well on the DSL Reports great site. Teams, Skype, Google voice and zoom calls from the same phone and WiFi work great, so it really seems specific to Vonage.

Occasionaly app has problems playing voicemails. It lists them but shuts down frequently when you attempt to play. Then you get a message from phone saying app is crashing frequently & asking you to put it to sleep to save battery. While attempting other functions I found that in "Manage My Home Account" there is an option to view & play voicemails, which seems to work all the time, even when attempting to play from voicemail icon on the main screen repeatedly fails & crashes the app.

It's wonky. You can't delete individual calls from the history. It's all or nothing. Voice-mail transcription is 40% on most calls and 60% they couldn't do it at all. The rest of the app is fine, good forwarding function and service is good.

Great that you only have to give out one number. However, I have to start each call with "I'm sorry, this app is going to drop the call." Notifications don't always come thru, so occasionally a call is missed. Call info is not always recorded, so calling a dropped call back is not always possible if they are not in your contacts.

Pixel 4: Works about 7% of the time. Phone rings for a call but the app doesn't automatically open. Then I open the app and it looks like I've already hit the answer button, but doesn't pick up the line, so I can't actually answer. I end up having to call everyone back, it's incredibly frustrating.

Not very impressed with the interface. It is too easy to mute your mic accidentally, and not be able to determine if it is muted or not. Also, there is no ability to put the call on speaker so you have to hold it up yo your face.. Makes it unusable in places where you have to be hands-free.

I've had Vonage for years because I still like having a land-line at home. Just started using the app and love it. Instead of having to remember to forward calls to my cell when out (and unforwarding when I get home) it automatically gives me the best of both worlds. Only thing is I wish you could customize the ring tone for calls coming through the Vonage app.

Edit 18th May - looks like Vonage have finally fixed the android 10 issue. First update in nearly a year last night. And the first I knew was when someone called and it actually worked! So despite all the lies that it was a samsung/android problem. Vonages update has now cured the problem. Might have something to do with people leaving them over the issue. I will upgrade it to 3 stars and see how it goes
