Still a good app, many reviews are overly negative in my view. I think it is an issue that international tickets are not refundable. I would suggest to deploy a reasonable change / cancellation fee when it comes to international tickets. For example CD charges 3 euros for cancellation. I find that option more reasonable than the non-refundable option provided by Máv-Start.

Installed it but it came in Hungarian and I could not find any apparent option to set it in English. So, it is totally useless to me and uninstalled it promptly. Thank you for your reply, but still one star. The language setting should be immediately visible and it should be intuitive AND BILINGUAL if you want it to be useful. You should come up with a new. improved and intuitive app because this one is pretty compromised.

It is technically working so I could buy a ticket, but the user experience is 0 Stars. It is ridiculous that a two-person startup can make a better app than the state railways. 2021 update: I used to buy tickets for 2ppl, and now I am trying to buy a domestic ticket for one. It seems impossible to set it to one person, it always tries to buy for two people and there is no setting to change that.

Bought a ticket and received an error saying cannot verify the payment. Cancelled it and bought another ticket from a machine at the station. They completed the first order 2 hours later and ended up with two tickets. No refund. Regarding the app - saving a bank card in the app was a thing like 10 years ago. Google pay and Paypal integration would be nice.

Lot of bugs and little to no ergonomy. There's no refresh button on the map, and it won't refresh itself. ( You have to load another page and switch back to the map)

I'd like to give 0 stars; I've been trying for days to register, apparently accepted, but on trying to log in neither me email nor my password is recognized. Total rubbish! I've given up and just go to the station to buy a ticket.

Basic, but kinda works, but since it logs me out every day, it's actually quicker to buy my ticket at the booth, making the app near useless. Come on, even Revolut does not forcibly log me out with all my payment data

I wanted to book only IC seat reservation ticket with Start Klub VIP card, but the app did not recognise this type of discount. The ticket should be free with this Start card but it constantly directed me to the payment screen. Also in the discount section it is not clear which card is which.

For international travel, cannot find Nürnberg as destination and cannot pay with credit card from the US. Basically makes it impossible to use.

The app does not work offline and this is a big problem. Furthermore, the app developer had disabled the ability to screenshot the ticket QR code, making it basically useless.

In my entire family, 3 out of 2 phones can't use your map, this is what it says:Google Play services are updating I don't know where is the problem, every single App is which is using Google service works except for yours

A miserable experience. Setting up your first profile(what type of tickets you want to buy) is a chore and the purchase only goes through half the time. Not to mention the frequent errors with the "simple app" paying method. The browsing of routes/stations is actually decent, coupled with the favourite options. If the application worked as it was designed it would be half decent(still not too good).

I really like the app as a whole, but on smaller screens some modals cannot be filled, because they are outside the view area and there is no scrollbar. For example accept button on Electronic passholder data (Bérlet igazolvány adatok) can't be used. It could be easily a 4-5 star app, but because it's not working on small screens I'll have to rate it to 2.

Well, it didn't let me register, it blocked me out when I used my password, blocked me out when I got a new one, didn't let my buy a ticket only on the second try, and only downloaded the ticket after restarting the entire app multiple times. But I finally had my ticket, I paid for, 2 minutes before the train left Nyugati. Amazing experience. This app would be super cool if it actually worked.

All of a sudden, the behaviour of the app changed and upon tapping on the "payment" button the app was not able to navigate to the SimplePay screen anymore. After several attempts I finally updated the app. Since then the payment screen appears but the keyboard does not pop-up anymore when I tap on the input fields. Quite annoying... Tested with Swift and GBoard as well. (re-install, restart, cache deletion does not change anything. (Huawei P10, Emui 9.1.0.252)

Not very user friendly even after the latest update. Would be nice if they include fingerprint ID as an alternative to password (almost all the phones have fingerprint sensor). Also, I cannot find the option to choose preference for a Table Seat/Window Seat/Single Seat. I see no reason why this cannot be included in the app too. Please try to improve! The developers must have seen all the critical issues raised by the users. . .Edited: okay. Giving you 1 Star! The generic response says all!

Berlin-Budapest tickets not showing up in app, just only in desktop version

I could forgive the terrible and dated UX design, but the app frequently crashes, if I would switch between apps to copy-paste info such as an email address or credit card info, it resets the purchase process. Bugged so much, I couldn't purchase my tickets in time and had to take another train. Unreliable pile of mess.

Very useless, trying to buy my ticket unsuccessfully for 30 min now, the whole app us just not convenient. Trying to add some discount which the English version of the app doesn't have ( the Hungarian does) and buying a return ticket seems like impossible. Probably who made it never seen a proper app before... Worst UX ever. Just redesign the whole app! Copying is not shameful by this point, just check how more developed companies apps are, to get the idea how a well functioning app looks like!

Great app in 95% of the cases. The remaining 5% is a very oldschool bug: When I travel and i wanna open my ticket then three things can happen. 1. Internet is completely switched off, app detects it is offline and show tickets immediately. Goood. 2. Internet is on and works. App loads and i can see tickets too. Great. 3. Internet is on but in fact it doesn't work, no data connection behind, it happens... App tries to load everything and it forces the user waiting unlimited minutes for nothing while IT DOES NOT OFFER SHOWING TICKETS ONLY. :/

This is ridiculous that you are logged out if you don't open the app every day... The usability is mediocre, the app looks and feels dated.

MAV doing their best but it is poor in comparison to other European railway apps. Czech Railways (CD) by far the best in my opinion.

When I was buying a ticket to Budapest, it took my money by SimplePay (the payment successful, there is an email to confirm) and then said there was an error and showed me the previous page (to pay again). When I tried to access my account not from the app but from your website, it showed error again. And, of course, no ticket for me in 'My tickets'. Frustratingly bad service!

Useful. Great idea. Not bad. But not that good either. Sometimes annoyingly poor usability. You see good improvements like HEV tickets but many annoying bugs and malfunctions seem to be ignored despite the lots of comments. Please provide - an offline version for journey planning with static train times. - ticketing for late running trains after their scheduled departure. And please reach out a bit, at least to where your trains are going abroad. Provide ticketing for destinations abroad. Thanks

After multiple attempts and the app saying it couldn't process the payment I had to buy my ticket at the station. 10 minutes later when I was already on the train both tries on the app were registered and took the payment. Brilliant. And I can't even refund. Don't think I'll use this app again.

1. The cart function does not fit for its purpose as I can't put there multiple tickets in the same time (ie. to buy the return ticket as well). I need to do two payments if I want to buy both ways.. That's very inconvenient.. 2. Why on earth I need to log in every second day??? Otherwise the planning and nearby trains functions are alright and useful. *Response to the developer's feedback: Thanks for nothing. I know it isn't possible to buy return tickets with the same purchase.

It is possible to buy tickets, but the user experience is only a little better than awful. Today I accidentally purchased a wrong ticket because there is no confirmation screen before payment where you could see which train you are buying a ticket for. After payment I saw that I had the seat reserved for the wrong train but couldn't issue a refund (I got a message that I am too late for that) or buy a different seat reservation without a ticket.

I got this tip from my mum, to use the app to buy suburban railway tickets (HÉV). Quick and easy alternative to the BKK automats. I never save my card in the app so I cannot say if that solution works. I tried to buy a regular train ticket once (from Budapest to Szeged) but the app was difficult and not user friendly at all. I gave up and used the mav-start website on my phone instead, that works most cases quite okay.
