Vote With Me

VoteWithMe helps you increase voter turnout for Team Blue, no matter where in the US you live or vote.

It shows you who in your contacts can help you affect positive, progressive change for the things that matter most to you – and lets you reach out to them to remind them to vote for those changes. It doesn’t matter where you live or vote – see your contacts in VoteWithMe and reach out to them individually through text.

Why? We have proof that people are more likely to vote if a friend asks them to. And, just like that, your voice goes further and your ability to create real change is exponentially increased with every friend that receives your reminder to vote.

How? VoteWithMe uses publicly available records to show you who in your contacts is able to vote, who lives in areas with close elections, and who needs a nudge to go vote. This is how we empower you to have the largest possible impact on elections nationwide – all through the contacts you already have on your phone.

We believe the future of democracy is at stake and in the hands of voters. A simple reminder to your friends about voting has been proven to have a substantial effect, at times being the difference between disastrous policies and lifesaving ones.

VoteWithMe respects and protects your privacy. We will never sell your personal information to anyone and *we will never contact your friends*. You choose who to contact, and when to contact them. VoteWithMe gives you complete control – tell your friends to "vote with me."

Great UX and very easy to use. Since it only uses the name of your friend as it is in your contacts list, you might find a fair few mismatches if you've given them nicknames. It can also be hard to find your friend's voting info if they have a common name, but that's because VoteWithMe doesn't use any other identifying info (like emails or phone numbers) to match profiles. Just the cost of better data protection, I guess. If there's only one suggestion I have, it would be to include the names of the candidates running.

New version rocks. Loved being able to see the voting records of myself and my friends as well as what competitive races we might effecting. There were some mis-classification of where people were located, but frankly it was a small number and easy to notice cause...I was looking at my own friends. Best app system I've seen thus far for figuring out who to nudge to vote.

Great app! I was initially nervous about letting it look through my contacts, but they are explicit in their docs that they just use the contacts to match up with voter records, and immediately delete their knowledge of the contacts afterwards. I used the app to encourage a couple friends who live in tight race districts to vote. It's very gratifying.

I was able to text friends outside of my state who I would not have thought to contact. It's help to see where races in other states are tight so I can point that put to my friends. I have already had a chance, through casual conversation, to tell others about this app and recommend it to them. Well worth downloading this app.

If you are not a Progressive, don't bother with this app. I installed it 2 years ago, worked fine. It has not been updated despite the Presidential Primary's being in full swing. I flagged the problem and was just informed that they won't be updating for awhile because they are "focused on maximizing our impact for progressives with our online organizing product Team."

First, while there is a leftwing bias, superficially, I detected no bias in functionality, except that it lumps all 3rd parties into one category. Kind of rude (designed to suppress 3rd parties, if not intentionally, still so). You can look up anybody with this app. For example, I have MoneyGram as a contact. I just use that to enter in other people I want to look up. You'll be happy to know ex presidents are reliable voters, and can see for yourself. After you look someone up, you can tap the "not (contact name)?" Button to reset and search for someone else. I would recommend AGAINST spamming your friends, but just try to bring up voting nonchalantly as possible, when chatting. As some have mentioned, there are some records it seems to be missing (why?)

Creepy. Not because it digs through your contacts and publicly available voting data. That's kind of cool, in a "Welcome to the Cyberpunk Future" kind of way. It's creepy because the default setting only shows you Democrat-affiliated contacts to remind to vote. You've got to dig through the filter to find Republicans to remind to vote. Nothing like putting your thumb on the scale.

The user interface is neat, but there seems to be no concept of early voting. I'm in Oregon, which is all vote by mail, no polling stations. It's all early voting. I want to contact only people who have not voted yet - the ballots have been out 3 weeks and many people vote early. So unusable in Oregon until you account for early voting. The information is available, public data, same as voting record. Please use it!

This app is great for reaching out to friends and family across the US and reminding them to vote! Especially in contentious or tight races. The technology needs a little improvement bc for anyone who changed their registration between states their history doesn't display correctly.

Great Idea but doesn't work. Main reason I downloaded this was to see about reminding my contacts who are eligible to vote. The contact part does not seem to work at all so there really is no use for me. The other information contained does work and is okay but the biggest draw of this app is the WITH ME portion which does not work!

there is no point at all with this app. it can check to see if you voted, but for the most part its just a contact list grab. the voting is being counted right now and for the whole day it just says that its a toss up... why? if there are no numbers to report, don't say anything at all. i was hoping to see a map or something. but this is really a useless app.

The app was a GREAT idea in 2018, but they haven't been able to update the voting records of ones phone contacts since then. Emails to the team that used to run this came back with a response that said they were working on it...two years ago. Seems dead now.

This is a solid app that explains clearly how they are getting and using your data (with permission). Very useful for reminding your friends where and when to vote, but even if you never share anything, just having YOUR local voting info so handy is nice.

I did not open this application due to the terms that are required. Technology is wonderful but personnal informationcan can easily fall into the wrong hands, especially the way it is distributed, even over seas, in this application. Who can we trust, even of the people we know very well, let alone strangers from foreign countries?

Love love love this app. With minimal effort, you can discover who of your friends and relations are in places where there are type races, and quickly encourage them to vote and get involved. Over my kids nap times alone in the past week, I personally contacted over a hundred of my contacts and got lots of response. Many of which have also then downloaded the app and started leveraging they're not work as well.

So nice to see the app get updated AFTER THE 2020 ELECTION IS OVER. While the ability of the app to look up people's voting records still exists its clear everything else about the app is abandonware which is really a shame. I'm also concerned that the old app used to not collect your contacts but they've since updated the Privacy Policy in the last week or so and I haven't had the chance to review it to see if they've made any nefarious changes.

It's sad, I think it's a great idea, you limit the usability and likeability when you automatically filter for me to find only my democratic friends and use "Flip the house" as your motto. I think this could be one of the most successful apps for election awareness if it wasn't soo partisan..Just food for thought, considering the house has been Republican for the last 7 years (that's quite a bit of base you could be reaching).

Ended up uninstalling it. I was hoping to learn more about local candidates, but the app will only provide information on an election if it can find your voter registration for the specific precinct. Because I had moved about 3 months ago, my registration is too recent for the app to find so I can't use the app at all.

A. G. u. Nov 6, 2018

Good idea, but still seems to be a work in progress. I found it fairly easy to use. It's only getting 3 stars from me because it wasn't able to find me as a registered voter. Also, if you found this app to be biased, then perhaps that's just what you were expecting (maybe it's as simple as 'D' comes before 'R' in the alphabet).

A. G. u. Feb 24, 2019

Very valuable idea, and lots of great hype about the apps capabilities, but what it said about me was so inaccurate it would be irresponsible to use. I'd suggest you spend more time on getting good data, and less on accumulating acclaim wrt. to what you don't/can't do ....

Extremely uncomfortable using this app. No reassurances that information will be kept safe and not shared and used wrongly. The premise of the app itself is uncomfortable considering the political storm we're in. And as others stated, there's an obvious bias (I don't lean either way), but an app trying to inform about VOTING should be as neutral and informative as possible.

A. G. u. Nov 2, 2018

I voted in another state in 2016, and they pull my voter record in that state and my current state so the app shames me for "not voting" in 2016 to my friends. Support cannot fix it. There's also no way to use this with Facebook friends list, which is where I keep most of my acquaintances, not getting their phone numbers lol

Does report everyone's full voting record. There seems to be issues with this aopt right now because I get an error when I try to use it and there is no update available. Worked fine when I first downloaded it.

Does nothing but display a splash screen. Data entry is sloppy. Search / lookup is so slow it is impossible to use. Just use the web.

Looks like it would be a really cool app but it doesn't look like it's been updated in a few years, maybe devs abandoned it? Would have been great to help people register this year but mostly too late now. Uninstalling.

Terrific tool to see whether your friends have voted in past elections and to motivate them to vote now. Very easy to use. Highly recommend!

Vic. O. Nov 3, 2020

Nicely organizes voting information but you can't filter contacts without SMS entries nor does it display what number it's trying to use. Would love to work on this as an open-source project.

A. G. u. Oct 31, 2018

This is great! You can search your friends, see how they're registered, their voting history and send them a text. Super vinvenient and well done.

A. G. u. Oct 20, 2018

This app says I'm not even registered to vote in my state despite being registered to vote for 25 years. I wanted to be able to track my important election races but there is no way to do that without it showing I'm a voter. Disappointing & now deleted.

App was incredibly user friendly and useful. Please fix as there are races every two years that can be helped with this app. Thank for whomever created it for 2020!
