Voyager: Route Planner
How is it different from other similar apps?I love travelling and exploring new places. One of the biggest problems for me was to find an optimized route to travel to all my planned destinations in a trip. However, there was no a route planing app that satisfied all my requirements. The major issues I had with other apps were: they were not truly free, too complex to use (too many overkill features for me), and required access to my contact book.
So, as an engineer, I decided to build something that my friends and I would like to use for our next trips. With that in mind, my route planner: 1) is completely Free and AD-Free (I don't plan to make even one penny from it); 2) has a clean minimalist design. Simple and very intuitive to use;3) does NOT require any extra permissions such as accessing your contact book or GPS.
How is it different from Google maps?Google maps returns directions based on the order you enter your stops. However, this may not be the fastest route for visiting your destinations (assuming order does not matter). This app will return the optimal order to you and ensure it is the fastest route.
How does it work?Optimal route calculation is done based on data from the Google directions service. The end result will be displayed on a Google map with the direction details. Internet connection is required while doing the math. After calculation, the optimal route will be saved locally and can be accessed offline later. There are three travel modes: driving, walking, and bicycling.
Note for users: The auto-complete feature is provided by Google Maps API. If it does not work properly, there are three possibilities: 1.The Internet connection is currently not good; 2.The Google Maps API service is currently not working properly; 3.The Google Maps API service (not the actual Google Maps app) has some compatibility issues with your device...For any of the above causes, I can't do anything about it, sorry :(
This app is completely free (no even ads). I would really appreciate if you may take this into account when rating the app :-) The app only uses the free version of the Google Maps API. If you are looking for an app that could handle some serious workload (e.g., 150 stop points in one route), I would suggest you to checkout those commercial (paid) route planners.Note for computer science graduates: As we all know, the travelling salesman problem (TSP) is NP-hard. This app uses two methods to calculate the optimal route: 1) a brute force approach when the number of destinations is small, and 2) a set of approximation algorithms when the number is large.

I've been using this app for about two years. Up until recently it worked great. As a route driver in seattle it helped greatly, but just recently the apps auto fill capability, which you have to use, quit working, rendering the app useless. I hope there is a fix for this soon.
This WAS fantastic and saved me so much time on my delivery job, delivering Medicines to the elderly. An app I would have happily paid a one off cost for. Unfortunately last week, the Autofill function for addresses just stopped working, so can no longer go beyond the first screen, rendering the app useless. Such a shame.
I used to do multi drop parcel delivery back in the day. I used to do 80 parcels parcels a day. The app would allow me to put in 20 or more drops by putting in the postcodes and then magically work out an optimal route. Best app on the for this kind of thing. Such a shame it's not working any longer ☹️
What I have a problem with is that I use this app for my job. When it bugs out and I can't add addresses to route, it really screws me up. Especially when I have more then 14 stops to calculate optimal route.
This was my favorite route planner app as I only need a route optimization and not an inclusive GPS app. But recently the app has stopped working addresses no longer populate in the field to auto correct. Haven't found another app that will just optimize a 20 to 30 address route
Used this for 8 months, worked perfectly for my job! Even recommended it to co workers. However now it doesnt work at all of a sudden. Unfortunately Im currently looking for an app as simple as this, without all the ads..Be great if i didnt have to... For me 5 stars when it was working...
Absolutely yes. Im a courier and when learning a new area this app was a God send. In travel, if you have a day planned, pop where you're going in and cut your travel time by not driving all over town. I can't say enough good things about it.
Used to be flawless. Now utterly useless! Doesn't even locate the starting points, no matter what you type in! You cannot manually type the address and move on; the autocomplete needs to find the address and it finds NOTHING!!
I think it's the best. But you could ever use it help me with my work everyday but for some reason after using it for many years I find that the app is not working with my phone I don't know what's wrong but I'm trying everything in my power do you got to work again it's the best that you could ever have Paul Andrews
Great app with just very few issues, one of which is that the app would not work on my new phone (Huawei Mate 20 Lite) probably because it is not compatible with the new phone. And I couldn't find this app in the app store to try downloading it again.
This is a great app, love you guys for making my journeys easier. I'd love to be able to save the destinations though, so I can just tick boxes of destinations I need to deliver to. Cheers and thanks again
This app is very helpful in planning my daily routes. I like feature that I can put my route and it calculates it for me in seconds, and it's dependable. Extremely useful
When I first got this app it worked great BUT now it doesn't work at all. I have sent emails to the developer but they gave gone unanswered. Too bad this really used to be a great app. but lack of maintenance has brought a 5 star app to a 1 star since that's the lowest I can give.
Excellent experience. Extremely helpful in planning my business route. Cuts down on a lot of unnecessary running around all over town.
where did this app go? F'n Google $! this was the BEST FREE route optimization app on the whole play store and now becuase of Google /puke the dev has taken it down. it was the only app to easily route over 15+ stops for free with no ads. just try the others and you'll know what I'm taking about! Dev please bring it back bro!!!
Used to be a great app, but recently just stopped searching addresses making the whole app useless. Looks like the developers are not in a rush to fix either.
This app is really good if you travel to that places a lot. You can save your mileage that way you know how long your trip's going to be. Be good for semi drivers and expeditors
This is a great little app I've used several times while delivering flowers, and it works quite well. There are some hiccups every now and then, but it sure is a time saver.

This was the best app out and now it doesn't work. Apparently they can't let you have it for free anymore but there's no option to pay for it! This app was a lifesaver for me for work and now it's not working
Just stopped working.. Does not locate addresses anymore. Please fix.. I am prepared to pay a fixed fee to help support the development. Was best app of its kind.
Horrible App!! No address I entered would get passed the address not detected popup. No way to use app. Uninstalled.
It works great but the limeted number of stops and the long optimisation time make it too slow for real time courier work.
This is a great app. Perfect for small business owners looking to maximize fuel consumption. Or even route drivers just trying to get home to their families in a timely matter. Super easy to use. One tip; set your display timeout to 10mins. If your screen shuts off the app closes.
