VR Elektrárny

The VR Power Plants application will show you 3D models of the most important nuclear and coal power plant equipment and models of the most famous renewable energy sources using a simple smartphone and simple VR glasses (cardboard). For example, you can admire the view from the gantry crane to the reactor hall, the animation of steam flowing through the low-pressure part of the turbine, or the close-up view of the arrangement in the gondola of a wind power plant perched on top of a tall steel tube. Each time you turn your head, the scene seen in your glasses also turns around, enhancing the feeling of being in the scene you're viewing. The experience is further enhanced by a system of teleports that allows you to move to a new observation point and enjoy the scene from a different perspective. The models on the stage and their parts are complemented by information flags so you know exactly what you are looking at. Cognition of energy equipment probably could not be more illustrative.

Getting started with VR Power stations start when you run the application in VR mode and insert the phone into the glasses in the room, which serves as a clear menu of the application. On three pages, there are sets of panels of nuclear power plant equipment, coal power plant and renewable energy panels, the fourth page is reserved for the help panel. Operation of the application is very simple and it is only a small circle in the center of your field of vision. Pointing this “sight” at the panel name or the purple teleport cylinder in front of the panel set and pressing the glasses button or wait for 2 seconds will suddenly bring you to the selected scene or location. There are several teleports in each scene to allow you to see the device from all sides. The system of moving between teleports is the same - just point the wheel in the center again to the purple cylinder, wait 2 seconds or press the button and you are there. To return to the room menu just look directly below.

The introduction of the nuclear power plant includes 12 scenes with models of external and internal equipment. The most impressive are the nuclear power plant cylindrical reactor and buildings located in the containment of the main production unit - reactor, steam generator and main circulation pump. Of course, it is possible to see them in one scene only thanks to the possibilities of virtual reality. The secondary circuit is represented by a machine room, a rotating steam turbine and an electric generator. Other scenes show exterior objects - a cooling tower, a used fuel store with Castor containers, or block transformers. Important installations are shown in partial or complete section and the idea of a nuclear power plant is rounded off by the scene of the complete Temelín plant site.

Demonstration of coal power plant equipment is dominated by the model of the majestic boiler of the most modern Czech classical power plant in Ledvice. In fact, over 130 meters high boiler construction can be viewed including eight coal mills, coal belts, powder burners and flue gas recirculation. Other models, which are characteristic only for coal-fired power plants, are models of electrostatic ash separator and flue gas desulfurization. An idea of the construction and compositional solution of the coal power plant will give you a realistic model of the Ledvice new block complex.

The last group of models are models of renewable energy equipment - hydro, solar and wind power plants. In addition to the Štěchovice power plant, the hydroelectric power plant also features sections of the Kaplan and Francis turbines, solar power is represented by a tower solar power plant, and the wind machines show the model of the most widely used wind turbine with horizontal axis and triple blade. In addition to local renewable sources, the model of a family house with installed sources of electricity and heat, such as photovoltaic panels and solar hot water collectors or a heat pump.

To smoothly display more demanding graphics scenes, the application requires a medium or high-end device.
