VTech KidiConnect™
With KidiConnect™ kids can share messages using a compatible VTech toy. All contacts must be approved by parents before any communication can take place so parents will have peace of mind knowing their child is in a kid-safe environment.
NOTE: KidiConnect™ is meant for communication with compatible VTech toys. You cannot use it to send messages to adults or children who do not have a compatible device.
Why Use KidiConnect™?
• Stay Connected with Your Child Anytime, Anywhere. KidiConnect™ uses an Internet connection to let you communicate with your child even when you are away from home - anywhere in the world. Parents can also add family members and friends to the child's contact list, so grandparents can stay close too.
• Kid Safe. All contacts must be approved by parents before communication can take place. Users who are not on a child's contact list cannot contact your child.
• Good For All Ages! Even the youngest kids can use KidiConnect™ to share voice messages, photos, drawings, stickers, and pre-recorded messages. And as children grow, they will be able to share text messages too!
• Group Chat. With Group Chat, your child can communicate and share with multiple family members or friends at the same time.
• It's Fun! You can customize your KidiConnect™ avatar with your photo, or choose one of several cartoon designs. There are also fun stickers and pre-recorded messages. Your child can even use the voice changer to record a robot voice or a mouse voice!
Using KidiConnect™
Parents:
Please register your child's VTech device before downloading this app. This will create a Learning Lodge® Family Account, which one parent can use to log in to this app. That parent will be in charge of the child's contact list and can use this app to send or approve friend requests on their child's behalf.
The other parent will have to sign up for a separate Learning Lodge® account and be added to the family like any other relative.
Relatives:
You must get parental approval before you can contact a child. Once you've signed up for a Learning Lodge® account, send the child's parents a request to join their family.

I am unable to use the app at all. I just receive an error message saying 99(l:KCERRS04). Unable to reset password or utilize any part of the app. The app has always been very glitchy, but now it's useless.
Only major complaint is no notifications from the app to let us know we have been sent a message. Push notifications, even just a simple number indicator on the app icon, should be simple enough to make sure this app provides to all devices. My notifications setting is enabled for the app and all permissions are enabled so there is no reason why it should not work and I see it is an issue for many people. Please fix ASAP as this should be standard for this type of app. Will change to 5 stars!
UPDATE: Despite the rough beginning, the app has been working well for about a month. The only downfall is that there are so many steps to connect family. PREVIOUS: Worked great for about an hour, but now when I try to log in, I get: "Error code 10 - The server is unavailable due to maintenance." So does my mom. This is my first experience with a VTech app. I think VTech has great products, but not if the technology for them doesn't work for them.
This app seems to work just fine...if you're on a iPhone. I'm the only one in my family with an Android and it doesn't work. I go to sign in, put in my email and password, and I get the loading/spinning wheel of death. I once let it go for a full 19 minutes and the loading wheel just spins and spins. Tried uninstall/reinstalling several times and changing password several times but to no avail. Ridiculous. Zero stars at this point. Works perfect for everyone else in my family.
Editing to add I uninstalled & reinstalled. Still not receiving messages while continuing to receive notifications. I can also no longer see messages I had way back when this app actually worked. I used to get notifications & messages. Suddenly stopped getting notifications a while ago. Now most recent update shows notifications, but no messages appear for me to see. I can look on both kids phones & see what they tried to send me on their screens.
Wish I could give it a zero. I am so disappointed that I am unable to text with my daughters. My oldest had sent several messages and I am unable to read them through the app. It keeps getting stuck. I can't even get the app to open now because it's stuck as soon as you click on the icon. Besides this huge issue I am very happy with the product itself. Hopefully they get the app debugged and working soon.
The concept is awesome, the execution is terrible. My son sent me a text at work today and I couldn't wait to read it...the app takes sonlong to load my phone goes to sleep! When it finally loads, the log in screen won't remember your user and password, regardless of having the option to do so. It was so bad I uninstalled it and reinstalled it hoping it was a glirch, but it's still just as terrible. This is the slowest piece of technology I own. Painfully slow.
Takes a long time app to show new chats, even after I get a notification. I open the notification and it takes me to the main screen and no new chat. After a minute or two the main page updates and shows the new chat. Also, taking photos doesn't work well. Once the photo is taken it gets flipped upside down and there's no way to flip it right side up. When taking the photo everything is right side up, so why is kidi connect flipping the image?
Bought this for my son so we could communicate. He gets a notifications when he receives a message but I do not receive one unless the app is open. We were under the impression when we purchased this that it would be more like a phone regarding texting. We didn't realize everyone he would want to communicate with would have to download an app inorder to do so. We don't like that because not everyone has an email address or wishes to download an app. Overall very frustrating!!!
I wish it wasn't through email, I had believed that I'd be able to add actual numbers to his contact list. once in WiFi he receives his message right away, but I don't like how while using the app on my phone and I'm not connected to WiFi I cannot receive or send messages wicth is inconvenient. it seems that an adults mobile data should work just fine. I like the phone it's something simple for my son that does all what my phone does, but there are a few issues that need to be worked out.
Update: the so works now and works well. Leaving at 4 stars though because it wasn't working out of the box for a while until they updated the app App keeps crashing...if they fix it I'll update my review. Just got this device for my daughter for her to keep in touch with me for her birthday and it doesn't work right out of the box!
This is a fantastic phone for my child. It would be amazing if it worked all the time. It was weeks straight of the phone refusing to sign in, server maintenance, restarting over and over till the battery died (i couldnt turn off), freezing up, and more. Now it has been working again, except for kicking it off wifi frequently.
It's pretty much what everyone else is complaining about. No push notifications. The app isn't the fastest, but that I can deal with. It would be great if when my child sends a message i can be notified. The only way I'm notified is by my child telling me! And no my phone Is not blocking any permissions. I gave it all the permissions requested and double checked. My mother is also having the same issue. i have a samsung s8. My mom has a so note. Fix this.
Disappointing. For my 4 year old daughter, my husband and myself. Her device is awesome, but this app won't send the voice messages or pictures. It should be like any other basic messaging app. The "connect" feature was the selling point of the expensive product, and it's absurd that it doesn't work.
thank God we don't have issues like some other reviews. I have a stylo5 and it works absolutely great. Having a shared family is crazy but my 3 year old loves sending voice messages and stickers to everyone from her kidibuzz2. I just wish she could either do live video chats or video clips, that way she doesn't need to use any other devices to do so. Then it would for sure be 5 🌟.
I have not had the issue of not receiving notifications. An icon appears on phone homescreen whenever kids send a message. (galaxy phone). Although I have the app set to keep me logged in, I still am required to log in daily to use the app. We are enjoying the kidibuzz devices overall but the kidiconnect app is glitchy. one day, we all received the error 99 icon and could not log on at all, but the issue resolved on its own by next day. The app times out a lot and loads slowly.
The descriptions online as to how to edit and delete contacts is false and does not match the app. Make sure you know who it is your adding, or else you cant
Can no longer do anything forces you to agree to new terms. Then asks to relogon but submit doesnt work. On the device it just asks you to logon tead terms press agree then it loops asking you to logon again. Its now impossible to change anything in the device because you cant agree to the terms. Please fix the looping logon
Extremely Disappointed. The concept is brilliant but I can not describe all the problems with the app. Either it's slow or the device is slow, the app won't recognize passwords even after you change it, did I mention it's slow? Non-responsive, glitchy, and just overall ANNOYING.
Will not let me reset my password nor create a new account. Have problems with this app every few months, horrible app in my opinion.
Why do you NEED access to storage in order to run the app? All you do is send messages... Sure, if I wanted to send a photo THEN you could ask me. But in order to use the app at all? No thanks. Too much malware out there to trust a child's app with storage access out of the box. Especially a VTec.
my kid is texting me but when I open it up on my app it doesn't show it. family members are getting error messages when they try to download the app so I am the only person she can send texts to. the phone itself is cool but I'm not sure it's worth the price that was paid considering she can't contact her family. might as well return the phone. Booo!
Last update fixed many things, now disappointing is that sometimes the app will not actually display/pull certain types of messages when the app is opened while the app was not open in the background. (i.e. The app was either not in the foreground or had to start up from being closed completely.)
Can't even login to an existing account. Had to reinstall the app, couldn't remember password. Went through Password Reset and used 8+ characters, an upper case, a lower case, letters plus numbers, and special characters for a new password. Hardware and security features are fantastic all around a good experience but not receiving notifications is a killer for me. I came here to share it thinking it was a one off issue because i was actually receiving them on my Galaxy s5 and am now not on the Galaxy s9+ but it seems like this is a common issue. It's christmas eve and I have split custody and I bought this thing for the Express purpose of being able to communicate. I missed my christmas eve goodnight. will change rating if u updat
Update 12/8/20: All the frustrations I stated below still exist & now I try to log in, it starts to connect & show my granddaughter sent a message, then "Error 99" shows up & now it seems stuck there. I've rebooted, uninstall/reinstalled & nothing solves issues. Doesn't keep me logged in (though I clicked box) AND it doesn't notify me when I have a message. Her mother gets message alerts, but I don't. I have ALL notifications on. Worthless app, but she's still using it so I keep trying. :(
Needs push notifications, no reason the iOS app has it and Android doesnt. Extremely slow to propagate account changes across devices. The parent app should be a lot more comprehensive, it feels like it is also designed for ages 4-9. Kids love the phones, just wish the experience lived up to the promises.
App doesn't work properly. We tested text messages. The only way the texts go through is if the app is constantly open on my phone. If I leave the app, and my daughter sends me a message I get a notification, but when I open the app the message is not there. This app is useless.
I never submit reviews...but this app is terrible and others should be warned. Logged on fine the first day, but the next day I keep getting an error message. Tried to uninstall and reinstall, didn't work. Tried to reset my password and it keeps sending me in circles. Very frustrating for me and a disappointment for my child!
App no longer works. Keep getting error code 99 like everyone else. I have tried resetting my password and Uninstaller then reinstalling. Absolutely ridiculous. I use this app to be able to keep in touch with my daughter when she goes away for the weekend. This needs to be fixed ASAP.
