It's a pretty dependable app. It does a good job of getting emergency notifications through, and I appreciate having local weather. As it fluctuates so often here, the national weather apps aren't as quick to update to current weather conditions.
Waff is my most trusted source for weather. This app works great. I've had It for years. My only complaint is that they give more video updates ahead of a severe weather threat. But I do love how you can watch them live from this app during severe weather. It has came in handy multiple times when my power has been out. Brad Travis is the best. But, they all seem good. And Brandon Spinner is nice to look at๐
I entered my city as my default AND turned off all my notifications; yet I'm still notified when there is lightning detected within 3 mi of the biggest city to the east. So ridiculous. I don't need to know that there was lightning in Huntsville Alabama when I live in the northwest corner.
We live in Southern Middle Tennessee. We get Nashville weather. WAFF 48 gives weather for our area. We have to use their app. There forecast is always accurate. Wish we could get it on our tv.
Too many reoccurring, nuisance notifications about chilly temps, possible flurries etc. I deleted it for that very reason. Clear the notification out and have the same one a few seconds later...I tried to only subscribe to severe weather alerts such as tornado warnings. Apparently that wasn't an option even after saving my preferences numerous times. The app otherwise was great.
Great app. Love the link to live broadcasts and live radar. A few recommendations: (1) show daily high and low temps in notification area along with current temp, (2) make the sections in the home tab customizable, (3) offer a paid ad free version. The loading of ads really slows down the app. That's the main reason for only 4 stars.
My life depends on this app. I live in a manufactured home and I do not subscribe to cable. I am on a fixed income and this app saves me money on my utilities by being informed of coming weather. (and I don't want to hang out the laundry in rain and humidity. Well, I also like to watch live radar.
I haven't been able to use Google and other than Apple, those are the only too websites that 48 will allow you to sign up for there weather app. When they changed their format, it screwed up my using their app, so I uninstalled it and when I tried to reinstall it. Google keeps saying trouble on their end, try again later. IT NEVER WORKS!
Works great. No issues for me. When tornados come through the live stream comes in clutch. Radar works great and is simple to use. Shows precip and cloud cover. Has been accurate for me on all fronts. Best weather app for north Alabama.
Hourly forecast never seems to match the daily forecast. Both lag far behind real time. I only use this for radar info.
It seems since Jason Simpson left Dekalb County is left out especially close to Marshall County. 48 has been consistent with covering all the viewing area. Not just Huntsville and west of the area.
The follow me feature does not work, and is app is constantly going out. Doing same thing on new phone as it did in my old one.
Only complaint is the (follow me) weather option never works. Other wise it's the best weather app I've found.
I live in Giles County TN and I can get more accurate weather from WAFF because I am closer to their radar and I like the way they describe what is and will be happening.
Accurate and thank you. App works well. Good alerts. Happy with it. Would recommend
I love the radar screen but the fonts for town labels are so bold they are hard to read, almost blurred.
I thought the point of the app is to allow you to keep up with the weather. However, the videos for forecasts always stop or lag before you can get the full forecast. But don't worry you will get plenty of ads that play completely through with no lag.
Too many Ad's, just like the news app. Other than that it works well.
Overall I went back to this app because WHNT changed so much of their app (especially Radar) that I found was not working for me. Last update 3 days ago has a glitch with the temp disappeaing on the top of my phone when I "clear all" of notifications. Never did that before. I have to open app to get it back on my phone. Please fix.
Not too many issues. The usual bad weather and lack of decent phone signal interupts service on occasion. But overall, no technical issues. Enjoy being able to see the upcoming weather conditions on the fly.
Love this app! I rely on it everyday. I turn to WAFF 48 because of their accuracy and dependability. I like all their meteorologists too. Most of all, I can depend on timely and thorough reporting during severe weather. Thanks WAFF 48!
I used to be able to tap on an overlay and get the details for the alert. Not sure why that no longer works but I do miss that feature. Otherwise, good app for local weather.
Sometimes an up to date forecast video isn't available. As in, you have to watch yesterday's forecast video. And the live replays aren't replays, they are infomercials. You should be able to rewatch a previous broadcast.
I like the radar, but 2 issues keep the rating down. The video always cuts off early and I don't get to hear the end. Also, the 10 day forecast rarely matches the hour by hour. For example, the hourly forecast may show 50% rain chance for 5 consecutive hours while the daily rain chances might be 20% for the entire day. If these issues were resolved, it would be at least 4 stars.
Decent weather app. The "follow me" function (that keeps data local when you travel) is often VERY slow to load (I can type in the city name and it loads instantly.) (-1/2 star) Older version allowed for clicking on a storm cell or a watch/warning box on the radar page and getting more details, but that has been "fixed" by updates. Took off two stars for that (-1.5 stars). That was a very useful function which should be added back.
