Walabot In-Wall Imaging App

I have used Walabot for several years. With the new update I was stuck in a loop and unable to use Walabot with my new phone. Worse, when I clicked on the "contact support" link the link did't work. Some time later Walabot support contacted me and had me delete and then reinstall the app. That fixed it. Overall I like the tool, I just wish it didn't take so long to calibrate before using. After calibration I find it a LOT more useful than the standard stud finders.

Walabot DIY2 has my heart. No, I mean that literally. I calibrated my new Walabot DIY2 on the left side of my torso and recorded what looks like my heart beating! (expert mode) If you're expecting it to be the same as cutting a hole in your wall & slipping in a tiny camera, you will be disappointed. But compared to a stud finder it is 100 times better. Be sure to watch the video on the Walabot page to get started. The better you can calibrate, the better it works. Mine calibrates in 15 seconds!

Handyman. Had high hopes for this product bought for me as a gift at great expense, but it's just too unreliable. The software is ok but keeps disconnecting from phone. Sometimes picks things up ok but often misses things or labels them incorrectly. I've tried and retried it multiple times over the years hoping the software would improve over time. It's just not accurate enough to rely on. Shame.

I have had my Walabot for more than two years making me a true Walabot fan. I bought the device for general use but have found that it really shines when running interior trim such as crown moulding or base trim. Excellent, accurate and the added ability to locate pipes and wires accurately is a bonus.

Sometimes my Walabot DIY Plus works sometimes not. It says the cable is disconnected. It's not. I reconnect it then it works again. On my new phone it won't set up. When connecting the cable nothing happens. I'm using the cable that came with it.

Well I got this to work on my home. Problem is that it is gypsum backed plaster. Something referred to as pegboard beause of divets in the gypsum taking the place of wooden slats. It does okay in this area but not great. Have some drywall in specific areas that were added on and it does great in those areas without trouble but if you have plaster then this software and tool wont work well for you. I dont think my home construction is common enough to request some updates or a different tool

I find it does just what you say it does. It is not magic, but it is 1000% better than the competition, which is useless over gaps between drywall and studs. It is a huge benefit to see wood and wires with the same setting, offering a degree of confirmation. Calibration held on same thickness of drywall even from the wall to the ceiling, with irregular skip texture. The expert mode shows dotted lines where the image would be. I use very expensive inspection gear, but this is amazing. Love it!

Piece of junk. Everytime we need it there is some glitch that needs weeks of back and forth to fix. Tried to return it but they insisted on extended the timeline and make it work. Big mistake. Not once in 3 years has it been useful in any way. Now again, it does not calibrate or after calibration gives a white screen instead of any image.

Moved into a house with plaster walls and this is the only device I could find that would help me locate studs. It worked perfectly and I was able to accomplish exactly what I needed. Worked perfect for me as advertised. Thank you so much!

This application is forcing users to create an account in order to be able to use their device. For creating the account, they send an email and Gmail recongnized it as spam every single time. Within the email, there's a link which is recongnized as suspicious content by Gmail. I'm confused why finding the stud on my wall requires this company to have access to my user data?!!! I just want to find a stud on my wall! Please remove it from Google play.

Always have connection issues with my android phone. Update: Till terrible service. Contacted the support for help. Followed the instructions but nothing worked. Booked an phone appointment with them. Given I am from Australia and I had to be awake at 1 am. The suggestion was that the cable may be faulty. Then I bought a spare cable. It didn't fix. I kept emailing support and always they come back with a response to try this and that and never seem to help sort the issue.

I love my walabot, its easy to use, does whst it says it will, I am a Apartment maintenance tech, with just a quick scan, i can see electrical lines and pipes, no more crossing your fingers and hoping for the best, best product ever made in it catagory

I've had this Walabot for about 2 years.It is hard to calibrate...meaning it takes several attempts to get it calibrated and if it comes of the wall even slightly, you have to recalibrate it again with several attempts. It worked just ok on drywall, kind of hard to hold and scan the wall but doable.It did not work on plaster walls. Haven't used it in a while, but pulled it out to hang a TV and my app kept looping to the point I had to calibrate the device. Forced stop the app (as suggested by the app)...no change. Checked for updates and updated...no change. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app...no change. Contacted Walabot tech support and after them not responding for 6 days even though it says they will respond within 24 hours, I get an email stating that since I have not responded to their response, they will be closing my ticket. Emailed them letting them know that I have not received an email to respond to, and a day later I get a response from them telling me "my device is not functioning properly. We would be happy to offer you a 30% discount at our store" no attempt to do anything...no troubleshooting at all. And they expect me to buy another of their products for $90+. Don't think so! Would not buy again and would not recommend.

I was VERY cautious when it cme time to place 5 6ft ply panels on a plasterboard wall as live and telecom cables are also in that wall! I spent a day carefully going over that wall locating the wooden studs and mapping the cables with the Walabot. THEN I did exactly the same search using more traditional 'stud locators' and tiny drill bit holes, and the walabot results were same or superior. Then I drilled and mounted the panels and had zero problems for all 45 wall bolts! Walabot wins!

More frustrating than a normal stud finder. Shows wooden beams as metal. I bought this thinking it would make life soooo much easier, it's worse now. I can go over an area 5 times and the stud will be in 5 different spots. I still end up using a screw to see where the stud is located. I have the first version of the device, but honestly I would not risk the money to see if the newer ones are better.

I have to uninstall and reinstall the app as well as reregister my unit every time I want to use it. It works very well then and only then. I contacted customer service and their response was, "It's not supposed to do that. Please feel free to reach out again if you have problems." Can you say USELESS customer service? I spent a lot on this thing so I am stuck. If CS reads this review maybe they'll fix things but I can't hold my breath that long.

I haven't actually used it on a project but I did test it out and sure enough it showed me the metal and wood studs in my office walls. So many years using a regular stud finder and wising I could just see within the walls all that time and now and behold, Walabot.

Ok, let me start off by saying I'm pretty inept when it comes to home improvement. I decided to hang my flat screen tv and needed a way to find the studs properly to attach the mount. I reviewed quite a few finders and chose the Walabot DIY. This thing worked perfectly! Easy to set up with my Android phone. Super easy to use. Now I'm wondering what other projects I dare start... Oh, and the tv is STILL on the wall.

Device works okay, The amount of setup required to use it each time is re-darn-diculous. I went to use the app after it sitting on a shelf for 3 months. Had to re-setup, log in with my email address, etc. Its horrible. Took 45 mins of farting around with this to get to a point i could use it.. I finally just got my stud finder and used that.

I don't see what the function does as it is presented in the videos. It's not as accurate as the tutorials make it out to be. Cables and pipes cannot be detected very well on a wall that is knock down and neither on concrete.

There's no reason to require a login to use this device, other than to market your info. It's like buying a volt meter from a hardware store, that you can't use, unless you submit personal info. Consumer laws forbid the conditioning of warranty services for post sale personal info. Since I use my unit every few months, I'm forced to re-register repeatedly, waisting 20 minutes each time. Walabot should focus on it's hardware... stop trying to increase revenues through customer data.

Is great, but I wish I could swap easier between drywall and plaster without recalibrating if I made the wrong choice to star for example

App is horrible or I got a faulty DIY Plus X! Even the tutorial videos don't work and I'm on wifi. It says to update YouTube, but app is updated....

This product is awesome and very precise. Easy to use and every Maintinence Technian should have one. It's the Cadillac of stud finders and pipes for sure!

This has worked really well for me. Easy to use and gives a detailed look at where the studs are. Also helps my when I'm fishing wire in the wall!
