Great selection of lesser-known walking routes. Explored some areas we would have never have come across. Great directions and photos of hates very helpful! Downside is once you have looked at a route and want to return to the list, it always takes you back to the beginning and you have to scroll all the way down again.
I have used this app during the Covid months and found it invaluable to try new walks. In conjunction with the paper OS map, it gives me the confidence to explore unknown territory. A great resource whether walking in your own locality, or on holiday. Easy to use, but sometimes freezes, so helpful to print the instructions before setting off.
I initially had some difficulties registering to use this app (free registration - I just needed to type in my email address manually rather than use autofill). Have looked at walks I know near me and they seem to be described accurately and good detail. Does seem to require an upgrade in order to merge my OS maps to the app, which would have been a nice touch.
Great app!! Have used walking world for over 20 years from the good old days with importing csv files into Microsoft Autoroute! Then printing maps off to take on a walk. This app was used in anger today and absolutely cracking and easy to use. The only issue I had was the waymarked map needed refreshing regularly to get it to update and display your position. A little tedious but if that could be fixed absolutely brilliant. It was a leap of faith not taking a printed map for back up.
Reliable stability, very useful guidance overlayed on OS maps. Has much more detailed and varied content than OS Maps app. Used for a number of walks across UK, great for exploring walks. Very useful having people's experience of the walks and descriptions of waymarks etc. Has been invaluable where signs are missing etc. Often useful to combine with an OS map or free app as can be tricky to zoom in on the phone. Could do with a simplified view for zooming in
Mostly good but occasionally have issues when there is no data signal. I have a walk downloaded but have issues signing in to the app. Sometimes switching data off completely fixes it but not always.
I like this app, easy navigation using a combination of user provided Waypoints and OS mapping. I like that waypoints can be updated by other users so that routes can be maintained. Downloaded a route and was able to use it for navigation offline easily. I downloaded the GPX which worked perfectly. I would prefer to automatically generate an account using my Google account in app vs creating a Walkingworld account, this would make device changes etc in the future much easier.
A brilliant improvement on the website (which I have happily used for many years). The switch between map view and description view is really useful, as of course is the gps locator. It runs very efficiently. I strongly recommend it!
Don't get it. Free app. But to get any relavent information or be interactive with a useful map. You need to pay.! Just Google's you which is pointless downloading the app. You need Google maps any way. It's just the same. Rather use viewranger. Well ahead of this app. I love walking but sorry, this app is not up there. Rather Google maps, get there do a designated route on the board at foot of hill , free, no money on phone needed. If you do a free app do a free app with intelligent progression
Rather expensive. Login/registation took longer than it should. Limited walks in my area (Bucks) and filters seem to return a null result everytime. I'm using a pretty bog standard Galaxy Tab 7 with gps. Great concept but poor execution.
A very important walk yesterday meeting up with parents and sister first time since Christmas. Met in the middle Castle Combe an area none of us knew. The walk was wonderful. The map and directions excellent. Loved how it shows you on the map your position. Brilliant app. 👍
Just getting going and would be great to have a map view of routes rather than just a list. I am on the free version
Love this app, so easy to use and always the back up of the live map and way points without the need for a data signal
Great range of walks for all abilities. Sometimes take a while to download maps, but on the hole a really good app
App is very temperamental in behaviour. Walks are good and varied, but performance of the app could do with improvement.
I've installed it, uninstalled it, installed it again. Won't even load the app. I get a popup application error - The connection to the server was unsuccessful (file:///android_asset/www/index.html)
This app is faulty I can't join it as it keeps telling me my email is not valid when I know it is !!! I have tryed different email addresses and still says the same thing don't waste your time on this
Perfect for finding great places to walk, saving the routes on your phone and for navigating round the route.
Excellent, amendments needed at times, but that's just natural and up to the users to do.
Will not let me login. Keeps saying my details are incorrect. Have reset password 5 times and still states incorrect! Useless app.
I love this app!! It has helped me find so many new local walks that I didn't even know about. It has certainly helped in lockdown.
excellent app! and worth every penny! £20 for the year for all OS maps & amazingly detailed navigation. comes with step by step guides for all walks, and works in a similar fashion to Google maps when using on a walk. you can't get lost! if you want to lose weight, get fit or connect with the great outdoors this is the app for you! there are walks all over the UK to enjoy for all levels of walker/hiker. A MUST for any adventurer!
