Wall Mirror
- it is both a great conversation piece and genuinely useful. The materials cost me about $130.
The main advantage of this app is a fully configurable UI, so you don't have to be a programmer to use it. Just configure it with your location, the stocks you want to track, your nearest bus/train stop, etc and mount it in a frame. There are many other "smart mirror" type projects out there, search for "magic mirror" or "smart mirror" if this one doesn't suit your fancy, but most of them will require you to do some coding. If you don't mind a little coding, this app is open source (https://github.com/ineptech/mirror) and is free for anyone to use for any purpose.

* Time, Day of week
* Birthdays and Holidays (configurable)
* Appointments and reminders from your Google Calendar
* Current temperature and high/low for the day (from forecast.io)
* Stock quotes (from yahoo)
* Time til your bus/train arrives (takes some technical savvy to set up, but no coding required)
* Configurable brightness and font sizes

- loads a brief text message from an arbitrary url
* Ability to use Celsius (can't believe I didn't think of that)

Many of the api services are no longer available and there is no way to change the source.

I like the app but can only get time and holidays to work. Set up on three Samsung tablets, a nexus tablet and my droid turbo phone. All devices display time and holidays only. I loaded the darknet API into an appery.i o project and it's working there so I'm guessing this an issue within the app.
Needs a really nice looking forecast not just the day with numbers. Also kind of need to know if it's raining or sunshine. Maybe an option to add colors to the text. Got to admit the raspberry pi version has much more.
Great app that you can customize to fit your needs it's lacking some features such as strolling and more news sources. would love to see Google assistant or Amazon Alexa which could be easy Incorporated even without it this is a sweet app

So far so good. Ive noticed that depending on time of day google calnder text comes and goes. Also I have never seen the weather part work. Ive tripled checked the weather ref #. The fault is probably mine though. Not sure what will happen after first power outage.
The time and the day seems to work just fine. The weather portion doesn't seem to work even after getting a new API key. It worked briefly, then it stopped. Nexus 2012.
This is awesome. Good work, Nick! Great being able to customise it and the brightness controls on a timer is smart. My biggest request would be some way of giving it an RSS feed (News or a Subreddit) to replace the quotes. I looked for anywhere which might have an API to do the same as the quotes site but with news headlines, but no luck. Thanks!
Hi Nick, Thank you for creating this app. I've just bought a cheap 7" tablet to make my daughter a smart mirror as a present. The app works great so far and the weather api is a nice touch. I look forward to seeing where you take this project.Nice work. John
Would be perfect with some more weather info like if it's going to rain etc. Great work.

Works flawlessly, all modules fully functional, very easy to use, saved me a lot of time coding a new app as this is exactly what I am looking for. However, I'd just like to find out if there is any info about the default page being the config menu? Thanks!

Great app for my smart mirror project. However, the weather and stock ticker modules worked once or twice and then stopped working (similar Blake Holmes' issue). Copy/pasted API key to make sure there are no typos. Reinstalled app. Deactivated and reactivated modules. Not sure what happened. They DID work for a time and then stopped with seemingly no reason. Running on Nexus 7 2012 with Android 5.1.1.
Appointments in Google calendar show up but reminders do not. If I set a reminder in Google Keep I can view it in the Google calendar app, but it does not appear on my Magic Mirror. Also weather icons would be cool, subtle animations would be extra cool. I would pay $5 for this app, great job

Awesome app saves me coding a pi. Any chance you can make the app not start in config mode ? Maybe after a minute of no activity it displays the information. Cheers
Very buggy, changes made wouldn't save. App constantly would revert back to default settings. For example, followed instructions on weather display section(obtained dev key from dark skies dev) as suggested and entered proper coordinates, wrong info would display. Obtained URL for local bus routes entered in the field provided, no display and wouldn't save and no error message indicator. Very frustrating!
