Brilliant app! However, I wish for 2 minor improvements.....scaling doesn't work (maybe that's because my tablet runs the soppy Android Go?). And I wish we could have an adaptive brightness on motion activation instead of a single saved brightness level (eg. so that at night it doesn't blind me and in the daytime it's nice and bright). A remote option for this requires additional complexity I'd rather not have to set up.
WOW! This exactly what I was looking for! Essentially a shell for my Actiontiles home panel webpage that controls Smartthings. This app makes my current set up work perfectly. I have the Kindle Fire HD 8 with the show dock charging stand. Using an app called trigger, I can have this app open to my full screen panel everytime I dock the tablet. Automatically! It wouldn't be possible or work as well as it does if I hadn't stumbled upon this app. Thank you guys SO MUCH!
Awesome app for home assistant! Love the mqtt interface. For example: I use an external motion sensor to turn the display on (radio motion sensor -> radio mqtt relay -> mqtt server -> nodered -> mqtt server -> WallPanel via mqtt interface) instead of relying on the camera because the tablet is not very powerful and I wanted to have it turn on when the room is dark.
Simpler, free alternative to Fully Kiosk Browser. Has all the features I need for a Home Assistant dashboard. Camera motion detection works great, and the MQTT and REST API is helpful for further automation (like additional motion sensors, turning the screen on/off). Dev is active on forums and Discord. I hope you can continue to maintain the app!
Good, but not without bugs. In earlier releases, users were not able to scroll up on all pages. If you do this, the app blanks the page and refreshes it, instead of scrolling the page. In this release, this is fixed, but only for the main page. All other pages still have this bug.
Wallpanel is well-designed and offers features perfect for a Home Assistant dashboard, like motion sensing, MQTT discovery, and mjpeg streaming. The developer is friendly and responsive on Github and offers helpful advice for troubleshooting. Unfortunately I just couldn't get the app to remain stable on my Pixel C on the stock OS (Android 8.1) or Lineage 18.1 (Android 11) with my Lovelace dashboards. I may come back to try it again at a later point or on new hardware.
Absolutely wonderfull app. Works like a charm, settings are intuitive. And it is free !! My compliments on this one ! Would be great if this is made avalable for iOS also. There i am stuck with Guided Access, but that does not come close to your work here
Worked outstanding until the August 30th update. Now auto dim feature dies not dimdiwn 99 percent to a black screen like it was doing it's make down to 15 present. Also motion detection no longer seems to work. How do I restore the old version ? Also seems much more laggy and unresponsive
Works great. Very responsive even on older hardware. MQTT is a really nice feature. And it's free. Only complaint is the occasional issue with the camera which requires a tablet reboot.
Almost perfect. It doesn't expose as many sensors as I'd like, such as notification list and WiFi or Bluetooth info (nearby Bluetooth entities with strength would be rad). Otherwise I'm loving it!
Wow there is a great progress for the past years! A small feature request. Pass the "back button" event into the browser instead of immediately exiting the application.
Works occasionally but the lock screen keeps coming up on my Fire 7 tablet even though i have the option to keep the app running checked. Otherwise the screen on with motion works very well.
A great alternative to that other full-screen browser app. Access to the device's sensors and camera is an excellent touch and waking the screen with facial recognition seems to work well.
Works as described . However the back button takes it to the settings page everytime . Any option to disable the same so that the app can work in kiosk mode all the time.
Excellent but, back button takes you all the way back, and your home and back buttons always hide into full screen mode with no option to not hide them. Would be 5 stars otherwise
I love this app, what would make it perfect would be if the app is minimized or in the back ground when you click the icon it doesn't reload from scratch.
Once installed on the tablet allows for access to HA via AppDaemon web pages. Two extras are the motion detect to wake up the screen when you walk up and sharing the tablet camera as a video source in HA. Brilliant!
Thanks for super quick MQTT fix!! Works great with HADashboard and HomeAssistant. Motion sensors and camera are super useful.
Last update seems to have broken the app for me. Was running fine on my older samsung tablet, now just showing a blue bar on top and a white page... Edit: Installed legacy version and working again...
This is exactly what I needed to make wall mounted panels with OpenHAB v3. Combined with lucid daydream for more info on screensaver and perfect. Much better performance than the other options I tried on my fire7 2017 (rooted)
Does exactly what I need! I have it working with Dakboard and provides much better functionality than the Dakboard android app. Love the motion detection!
Great browser for actiontiles. Only request would be to allow custom photos for the screensaver, such as from a folder or Google photos.
Great app in general, but after some time the page does not respond anymore and I have to reload. An auto reload every X hours would solve that.
Excellent app. However latest update is messing up the screen dimming. Hope it will be fixed soon.
What am I missing? Just loads the home assistant ui in the app... Edit: I spent some more time on it, and as a wall mounted tablet app the motion sensing comes in handy.
Great app. However, I couldn't find any option to change settings afterwards. How can I get to settings part after launching?
As home automation becomes more pervasive, WallPanel will allow for a simple way to add huge functionality.
I love the app however beware of using tablet camera. I burned two tablets by turning that on. I hope they fix it, I Guess the tablet overheats.
Only seeing a blue bar. Page opens in chrome. Great idea, will check back in. Thanks for reply
The app is great if you don't care about stability. I have it installed on three tablets from a new tablet to an old tablet and this app crashes on every single one after 10 minutes to an hour then I have to restart WallPanel even though it still shows in the top bar that it is running. Great app except that it's totally unreliable. I want a panel that is stable and reliable not one that crashes multiple times a day, day after day.
