Warhammer 40,000: Regicide

Only just started playing but i have to give it full marks for the wonderful graphics and animations alone. Lost the first game simply due to not knowing which piece represented which chess piece, but figured it out quick enough. The next game will allow me to play properly. I've heard the AI is not the best but I'll play it for a while before venturing into multiplayer i think. I'll give the normal chess version a go now purely to watch the cut scenes. Loving it. Very entertaining.

Confusing UI makes it hard to cancel an "initiative" after it's selected so you'll constantly be making moves you didn't intend to make. Inability to disable animations makes the game a total slog. You're better off playing regular chess where the simple act of moving the pieces doesn't take two minutes a turn. Fun idea but an absolutely miserable execution.

A different, but cooler and alot more fun way to play chess. honestly i like regular chess. but this is way better, its easy to understand and when you take a piece off the board the way yall do it is fantastic, very pleased with my purchase of this game for the simple reason of it being something i will and can continue to play for a long time to come.

A very simple but effective chess based game. The animations are fun and the graphics are okay, however this game is let down a bit by a mediocre campaign. It's the multiplayer and skirmishes that really help it shine, along with the added shooting phase that will challenge how you usually play chess. Also this game is totally free to pay, the in app purchases are limited and really do not affect gameplay - which is a refreshing change! Definitely worth a play.

This game is really stupid. They took the approach of chess and required a movement phase, meaning you have to move! This removes a huge strategic part of the 40k gameplay. Where is a decent redition of the minature game I love so much? One that brings my minis to life but doesn't neuter them in the process?

So sorry I bought this. The devolopers obviously designed this to be pay to win because shot %'s make zero sense in campaign mod. Orks with 52% shot rating will hit every time while I miss regularly with 68% rating. I miss more often than not with a frag gernade with a 75% hit rate. The only saving grace is being able to play chess. Also it gets hard to distinguish between pieces when most of the pieces on a side look alike. Sometimes pieces execute moves wrong.

Pretty disappointing port of the PC version (which has it's own problems). The online component seems to be completely broken and can't get passed the "connecting..." message screen. Such a shame I was really looking forward to playing this with my brother.

Honestly the game is a perfect mesh of tabletop tactics and traditional chess. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5/5 was because there's a few details that, if you get Warhammer 40,000, will stick out pretty bad. From the Raven Guard having the wrong helmets, to the Space Wolves lacking beards or axes, to other minor thematic details like that being overlooked. If I could suggest more details being added than a pallet swap to the in-game models of extra purchases, I'd have no critiques.

Amazing Spin on Chess. It takes basic chess and adds attacking defending and special skills. The graphics and UI are very good, and it's a challenging game for stategy fans. I'd love to see more expansions with maybe other races? 🙂

Playing regicide is fun , need to fix some glitches though. Playing vs Ai, the more pieces that are eliminated the long the actions take to play though. And add more abilities for all legions.

Great new take on chess, better known as regicide originally.. if you know the Warhammer 40K universe or if you're some chess grandmaster this is definitely worth downloading and signing up for an account to save your progress... Fantastic game three Acts in the original campaign will keep you busy for a while, then you can also purchase for a dollar the orc version of the campaign! As I said some in-app purchases but they all cost $0.99 and there's probably a half dozen total.. Great App!!!

The game is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I was just expecting something I could waste a little time on semi mindlessly, but the campaign missions really force you to think a bit if you're going to complete the secondary objectives.

I'm not a fan of tabletop Warhammer, but I once had the plan to buy 32 figures and make me a chess set. What I had in mind is realized in this game. Better yet, it's only a small feature; almost an afterthought. This game is perfect for anyone who has ever thought 'I wish my bishop could just shoot that pesky pawn.' Very enjoyable. Thank you, Hammerfall, for at least digitally realizing that idea and building upon it in a very Warhammer way. And saving me the trouble of teeny tiny paintwork.

Incredibly disappointed. Constantly crashes before I even get a chance to play. It says i need to allow all permissions to play online., All are turned on except contacts , you don't need my contacts!! I can't even log in. The home screen for game just freezes won't allow me to log in or anything I'm so utterly disappointed how poorly this app doesn't even run

Beautiful models and animation. A true warhammer 40k version of chess. Regicide is fair and balanced, you even can play normal chess. If you enjoy a brutal version of chess or want a different take on it. Buy this game. It is absolutely worth every penny. You can customise your space marines and orks when reaching new levels even. Excellent voice lines and I can't praise the devs enough for such a great game.

A wonderful game, however I'm taking of a star because a simple but almost essential feature is missing, and that is two player local mode I think it would really have been a perfect game if it was possible to play it with someone like real chess (or regicide in that matter)

Great, but could be awesome. I would have given 5 stars but I feel the game could use a few more factions, in particular Chaos. But that aside game is a great just to play classic chess, Regicide itself requires a whole new layer of tactics. Highly recommend.

Great adaption to the wh40k world. Some angles hard to see which unit is which on my tiny screen smartphone, but overall awesome once you can tell the pieces apart. Great "campaign mode" setting up mini chess drills that can be played in just a few minutes

Only reason i still have it is cause i paid for it. The enemy A.I. cheats in the campaign, percentages don't actually mean anything so you'll miss more often then not, the only mode that isn't awful is the classic chesa mode, which compared to the rest of the game is a huge surprise it works.

Tried playing 4 times and every time it freezes in the menus requiring a restart. Playing on a brand new Samsung Galaxy A20 phone. This game looks like it could have been fun but I guess I'll never know.

Pretty fun game, beat it twice. Thought offline play could later be transferred to an online account. With the expansion Acts, The Green Tide etc, can you actually use your requisition points to unlock them or do you have to pay for it?

For such a cheap game, I get more than enough out of it. It's chess, but violent. And with a special mode using abilities, it's unique. More importantly, it doesn't try to do anything else. It picks one thing to do, and does it well.
