I was having fun at first but it didn't take long for me to be constantly fighting people using annoying gimmicks constantly. This was disappointing because I enjoyed the concept of traveling through the realms and what nought, but it soon became a slog with the gimmicks and tricks which seemed to be the meta. Good potential here. Somewhat wasted though, sadly.
This could be an awesome game, however it has a few flaws in its premise. The biggest problem I have with it, is that the units you have access to are tied to which realms you've accessed, and which realms you have access to is tied to your ranking. Since this is a PVP only game, it means that you don't have options unless you "get gud". Additionally, your loot has ridiculously long unlock times, it literally takes hours to unlock every loot box. That said, it could be awesome. The gameplay is incredibly solid and the graphics are fantastic. I'd love to see them fix these problems and continue making a great game, but I don't think they will.
not a bad game, the sound options will turn themselves on though. and after the update, turning the sound off in the settings doesnt do anything for you. still get sound effects, every now and again. the warlord abilities don't work, or the units you deploy just don't show up. its frustrating but happens infrequently enough that it isnt a major problem. the leveling system for the individual units seems very very slow and tedious. I wish they would rework that. but everything else is good to go.
In game UI is absolute garbage. Every interaction has some sort of transition animation, slowing the gameplay down immensely. If you select a card the hand UI shrinks, when you hover a zone to play a card the camera moves and swings, when you play a card the hand UI expands, if you use your special ability, you lose control of the whole game for a few seconds while an animation plays; but your opponent can still keep playing. The hand is on the right side of the screen, but the zones you play in are on the left. All these animations and transitions are 2-3 seconds long, but all they serve to do is remove player agency and slow everything down. If you're going to make a 'Clash Royale'-like, at least copy what they did right. Like putting the cards next to where you play them, and not tossing my camera around like every match is directed by some Michael Bay Sigmarine.
Love it! Each battle is only 3 minutes, yet I somehow can't manage to spend less than an hour playing at a time. King of "just one more battle" games. Would be nice to see different maps in future. Single lane, triple lane, slowing or speeding terrain, etc. Will enjoy this game for as long as it's actively supported/developed. :)
Great "Battle Chess" (as I like to call it) game. Not only is the play style on point, but the characters, from their model(s) to their action(s)...is brilliant! Not real familiar with the Warhammer lore, but playing this game makes you really want to explore it. Graphically, for the amount of action that goes on, its stunning... providing you have the horsepower in your hands to render it. Like other well done games in this genre, you have to learn the game, the battlefield and the characters on them. Although, once you do, youll find yourself looking when you can squeeze in some more gametime. There are a few things that I would change or tweak, however, not many. Well done pixel toys, keep up the good work! Oh...and Let me know if I can become as a assistance along the way. [Ps - nice job on the ability to kind of "smack talk". It feels good sometimes to be able to let someone know how "pathetic" they are!]
the graphics are nice and the gameplay fairly balanced and skill based. the issue in have is that when loading opponents I waited over 5 minutes and it didnt time out the battle. when I exited the game it counted as a loss. especially bad during an event, seems like it's trying to waste me credit. if a match doesn't start it should time out the match making and not penalize you.
Rank 5000+, spent some money on it. The game is fun the graphics are alright, the controls and awful and I've been using the same set up since I started and have an 85% win rate, so that tells you the depth of gameplay. I've lost at least 5 matches from random disconnects and atleast another 5 from the unresponsive controls and heroes not using the powers after repeatedly dropping them and marking the area with a yellow, not red circle, and nothing happening. Unresponsive controls ruined it.
Pretty fun. Cruising through realms so hopefully it gets a bit more challenging. Doesn't appear to be as much strategy as something like Clash Royale, more of a throw everything and the kitchen sink at the enemy. I love the design and graphics though, looking forward to seeing how the game develops!
Lots of game hang ups. Can't proceed with even the training. Fix these issues and the rating goes up. Game is unplayable. It takes over 10 minutes for it to redpond if at all. Dont even bother trying to move firward as it will just hang up in a frozen like state. Rating POOR, in this day and age with and title this big, this is sad. NOW I can't go any further. Says you can upgrade a card. Well I can't and it sticks trying to get me to upgrade the card. This is just a mess.
It's... fine. The game itself is like an RTS with two MOBA style 'lanes' you send units down. You have little control once you've set your units on your way so the complexity is in counteracting your opponent, playing the right unit at the right time and in creating 'combos' which make your units harder to deal with or do larger amounts of damage. What let's the game down however is the free to play model. The single biggest factor in determining the winner of a match is the level of the player and level of their cards. The single biggest factor in determining those is how much they've paid to accelerate progress so once you get to a certain point, of someone has paid up then they'll just win more often.
I am extremely let down by this game. I really want to love it, and I really want to play it, but I'm struggling to even want to open it now. The matchmaking is non existent which means you play against others with far stronger mobs and you immediately haveno way to win. When you do lose you lose almost as much ground as when you win, so getting to the next team to win more cards is near impossible. Zero customization, warlords are locked to realms, no alliance structure, and worst of all is the blatant cash grab. Everything is able to be purchased, also everything is behind a long unlock time unless you buy! Saying the graphics are amazing is like saying the sunset is beautiful as you're being eaten alive by a shark.
Was a lot of fun until an update made me completely unable to play, even after reinstalling. Otherwise, it's your typical "free"-to-play nonsense. You'll face off against people who outclass you handily just because they've paid into it. Matchmaking occasionally sends you up against people you have zero chance of beating, which is incredibly frustrating. App is also fairly buggy and required frequent restarts while I was playing.
Generating resource at the same rate and having the same units and strategies to pick from means that if a group of troops is defeated by the other player you will lose. Period. The game is one sided victory every time. If I win the first encounter on the map then I continue to destroy the opponent until victory. There is no coming back. Horrible game
It's awesome!! My only complaints are the small roster of units (I can excuse this since the game is new), some bad matches (I have a lvl 3 tower while the other guy has a lvl 5), and there's this weird bug/glitch that happens at random (after a match the screen flashes white with the dracoth roar and the metal sound effect thing happening on repeat). Other than that, it's great.
Got the making of a good game but it's very disappointing. Quite like the tabletop. Been a Warhammer fan for many years and models are difficult now for time and space so mobile games are where I look to. Game looks fantastic, does not force you to pay (as with all games it does help) and has some very nice features. Problems: lag time on server is horrendous when playing this is a big problem as I have lost matches where I am unable to place units. Also there are not a great deal of units this early so play gets very repetitive and currently only one way to play so it gets very boring very quickly. Maybe in a few months when servers are better, unit choice is better and more ways to play this will be a great game for now...... Not so much
Really enjoyable. I rarely play phone games but I've put a lot of time into this. The key thing is that you can progress without spending money. The premium purchases are not constantly in your face. If you want to spend money, great, but you don't have to. To me that's the perfect model. Gameplay wise, this is a really fun and strategic deck building game. Highly recommended. Lots of viable options and games are always varied give the opponent will rarely have an identical deck.
So I truly love the game and want nothing more than too give it 5 stars. But it needs to expand. I fully relinquish all rights to any ideas you can have them. More warlords are needed at least one more for each faction, a lower lane would spice things up and a handful of new cards. It's an amazing game though with a solid play structure and is easily addictive, I do hope to hears back from the developers and possibly have my ideas heard.
Decent enough game, only it got really boring essentially playing the same match over and over again against weaker opponents to get closer to the second realm them harder opponents to get knocked down a few points to fight the weaker ones again, and so it repeated itself. Needs better matchmaking and more customisation options like more characters and more card options. It's warhammer, it's not like you're stuck for choice.
Graphics are great, concept is nice. Last update broke several tactics and made the pay to win factor weigh through much more in the upper tier. A lot of games you simply get demolished by an opponent with every unit maxed out because they bought all the packs and skipped the farm. Too bad as this game has true potential. Added bonus in the future would be proper alliances, like warband bonuses or similar. More character variation would be needed to make that work though.
Fun time waster. I enjoy the fast game play and the light tactical choices. Two issues, though. First, the game needs a more balanced matching system. Sometimes, I face someone at roughly my level and have a fun game. Sometimes, I get matched vs. a player 100+ points above me and get steamrolled. The second issue is more of a personal preference. As an AoS player, I'd prefer the ability from the beginning of the game to build your force from a single Alliance. It just doesn't sit right with me to have Stormcast in the same warband as a Weirdnob shaman. Bonuses for building a warband from a single Alliance would be nice.
Okay so I have only just downloaded this game, and I have discovered instantly that this game gives nowhere near enough silver for a F2P player who might want to invest in the future to want to stick around, you can't upgrade anything if the base upgrade costs 100 and I earn 20 silver a win, it would take 5 whole matches to get enough to upgrade a level 1 unit to level 2, and you know it won't stop there. If this changed prepare for a 5 star rating cause this is a good game.
The game is completely unplayable right now (after latest update). Every game I get into, starts fine, we send creeps back and forth, and usually under a minute left, timer just stops. Can keep playing, destroy tower, even kill other hero, but the game never ends. The last three games in a row have gone this way.
Love the design of the game and the aesthetics of it as a warhammer fan :) I don't understand why there are no factions to choose from though...it's a huge part of collecting so I thought it would be key in game as it is very unsettling to see my lovely demons marching with stormcast! There are also a very limited number of units available at present but the game is brand new so I can understand that. Overall first impression is good though I look forward to playing more!
Great game, just glitchy. Just updated so I'll play and adjust review accordingly. UPDATE; was really starting to like this game but with new updates and recent events, it's become painfully obvious that this game favors people who spend money. STAY AWAY!!!! And its stills glitchy, opening comets freezes, 20 to 30 sec left in a battle it freezes.
This has quickly become one of my favorite games. It improves my hand/eye coordination a lot and being able to utilize many beloved characters from Warhammer throughout the process is an added bonus. Regardless what folks may be saying about how it's a "pay 2 play" game, I seriously disagree, and would go as far as to say that if you have the time & patience, you'll do just fine without paying too much out of pocket. :)
The game has some decent mechanics to it, especially if you enjoy Moba lane style gameplay... but at start there is just not enough variety to truly make it interesting. With your Warlord being the biggest difference and everyone only having the Lord Celestant, matches get boring fairly quickly. They have a great start to the game but would have loved to see an AI campaign as well as more variety and choice of general at start. Also incentive to help those players who dont win get some upgrades and unlock time on meteors is ridiculous for getying 10 coins and a Fyreslayer.. 3 hours for that is just silly.
Edit 2: Update=constant, obnoxious ads! Considering quitting... Edit: two months in playing a few days in a row here and there and it's getting old. Progression (unlocking new units) is too slow, so the gameplay is getting stale. More map variety would be great too. 1st review: Fun game. Just wish there was more variety in maps, and that the progression was a bit faster and not so dependent on in-game purchases. It takes ages to gain access to a few more units.
