Frankly the game in itself is interesting but two major drawbacks: 1. The game is quite repetitive with very little strategy. 2. The campaign which could be a great way to bring some new elements puts you up against unrealistic ennemy "players" who are either bots or have spent a coulle thousand bucks (lvl. 7 legendary card a few weeks into the game with no way of buying specific cards)
Originally I disliked this game because of the time it takes to advance, but if that doesn't bother you then it can start to grow on you. The events are a welcome change to the everyday grind of missions, more of these are needed! Or other game modes. There is still a money problem, you do not gain any from winning matches, actually you gain nothing from winning - this needs to change!
Going to edit my review, as my first one was given very early on, since then I've played it for another 18 months, so thought this may help: The good points are still there, graphics, cool models with stats, all the same. However, since then the game has become horribly laggy throughout, in almost every screen or input. The campaigns (short) are pointless or (long) way too boring rinse and repeat from day 3 to 5. Special events mostly don't even work. At first it's fine, over time it'll bore you
Pretty straightforward game. Strategy and luck of the draw. No purchase necessary to build a good deck and theres a lot of replay value. Also a great intro to 40k lore and some mechanics. Great for chewing up time in the waiting room or a long car ride. Only main complaint is when it lags out if you lose service or sometimes it freezes up, but I've never lost what I gained. Overall been playing a long time and its only gotten better.
Either people don't read, or they're dumb since the simplicity of the game is confusing to some. A bit grindy at times, but the grind is enjoyable. Plenty of rewards for those looking for more than a five minute experience. Ranked mode could use more incentive though. Once you level up your cards, the strategies begin to have more affect, and the abilities become increasingly more useful. 40k addiction sated. Thumbs up!
Clunky mechanics, slow gaming that's pay-to-play (must purchase units to complete the tutorial)! The mechanics are poorly explained in the ill-directed tutorial stages, gameplay is unimaginative and slow moving, the unit draws are too expensive for the gatcha rates. Worst of all, the tutorial stalls when the last "test" for each faction requires your own custom deck. It is impossible to pass without good units, that aren't provided (gatcha only), so it's spending real $$ if you want to play.
Great game! it is a slow burner the longer you play the more fun it gets. I still stand by what I've said but I'm editing this and giving the game a decrease in stars as the move towards advertising is annoying. Starting to be forced to watch ads is a real turn off
Editting my review: The game now has a grind economy and therefore e entirely p2w, the events are horribly designed to the point where it's impossible to get the event rewards even if you complete the event fully, and on top of that the developers removed the social aspect of the game by shutting down the forums (when the criticism about the 1st two issues became too much). Edit: I've "caught up" with the new information and my feedback is unchanged.
Love the game. The mechanics are great. The interface is simple and easy to adjust to. The art work is amazing. The sound crispy. Learning how to play without reading the instructions is a challenge but that's how I learn so that ls no fault but my own. Card battling with a twist. Good job.
I really like this game but with the coins provided cannot play with the pathetic amount given during in game. Not possible. This is now only a pay to play game. Going to uninstall if not addressed and also this game crashes constantly even with it being updated. Help ticket submitted no fix given.
2nd review, finally understand why this game struggles. The philosophy is simple, build your cards up with copies ect ect. Problem is their philosophy on content. The campaign is the only noob/fun option to play, and they lock you out of it with energy that recharges 1 an hour.. meaning you get locked out of the system that actually invests you in the game. Duel links works because Konami doesnt bottle neck you and punish for playing. It's a flawed philosophy that doesnt encourage buying cards
*Edited: Changed from 5/5 to 3/5* Most app games out there are not F2P friendly, due to latest update, this game is no different than the rest. Took away many free packs and coins, and has also choked the opportunities to get legendary drops. Great variety of units with their painted models. Overall its a great game, however the F2P quality aspect of the game is slowly fading away.
No sooner do I write a great five star review when they take away the daily freebies that made it interesting and tank the experience. Dropped three stars for the fact that they let some "bean-counter" get involved to push more ads. Please put the rewards back the way the way they were! I used to feel good buying in game things from time to time to support development, but now I've lost interest in doing that unless the rewards system is restored. Why did you do this!? The blog post was lame...
seem good as far as the design goes but i would rate it higher of the start of a fight wasnt so fraught with bugs.... had a frozen screen 3 times in a row when starting a fight.
It has been a very enjoyable game. I like the battling system and all the different unit types. My only complaint it that the loot box timer of frustrating. If I want to play this game, I can really only do so four times, at a time. I want to be able to sit down and play! Not babysit it and wait for my prizes. Edit: Complaints with the cool down are the same, but I have really enjoyed the new additions and all of the new warlords to try out. Score increased to 4 out of 5.
Awesome Warhammer card game, though not as good as Warhammer 40k: Age of Sigmar: Champions. I absolutely loved that game! I had it on 2 devices; both my phone and my Nintendo Switch! But, sadly, I'm guessing that they shut the app down for some reason; because I have looked everywhere I possibly can, because I want to play it again, but alas, I can not. 😥
After 2 years I'm reviewing this game again. The current game feels more pay to win than ever. Over saturation of cards, OP warlords, addition of ads and removal of adless content are the current top complaints of any players. It's okay to pass 15 minutes, but quickly becomes frustrating.
It's a good game with some bad flaws and an unpleasant forum that has the usual toxicity associated with 40k. There are some bugs which leads to game freezes when something is supposed to update such as a match result. My main issue with this game is the ranking system which controls which other players you play against. As a new player you are regularly drawn against top tier players and you are destroyed. It's just not fun. Good solo play and no need to spend real money are positives.
It's a fun game with a decent level of skill. I would give it a 5 but the load times are horribly slow and it can get glitchy too.
Update: reinstalled the game because I still feel this is one of the only WH40K games on Android worth playing. Am pleasantly surprised on the new interface, and updates run way better. Changed my rating back to a "5-star". Keep up the good work! ******************************************* second time this has happened after a major update, keeps telling me "Error downloading OBB, restart your device"... Done so many times but issue still persists....
As a fan of Warhammer I really wanted to like this game. It was sort of bearable in the past, but recent changes made it boring and an absolute chore to play. You no longer get a free card pack every day and you no longer get the option to get 100 free coins every day, which means that progressing in the game is now agonisingly slow. The game is insanely hostile to F2P players, content updates are sparse, and after like 3 PvP matches there's no point playing because PvP rewards are time locked.
Like the game, but sometimes it gets so frustrating. There were times when the opponent is well above your deck level and had higher level card that you just can't win against.
Really enjoyed the game but, as of late, no matter what I do, there is an endless load screen. Cant open anything without closing the app and completely reloading it first.
I've been playing this app a long time and I'm amending my review. The game is very good to play. However the developers recently decided to throttle the economy of the game and now force you to watch an ad every 4 hours to get your free items. They said they would never do that when adverts came in. They lied. The economy of the game is so tight now, I fear for the game as a whole as current players protest and leave. I'd give this app 5 stars if the coin amounts were restored.
It runs a little slow but could just be my phone. It's worth keeping though for the hand painted miniatures on all the cards though. Awesome!
Need to wait to unlock cards pack !? This limits the time I want to spend and play the game. The editors nowadays still don't understand that the more time you play a game, the more you are willing to support it... limiting gameplay with time-lock is just business non-sense. It's also difficult to see the pro/cons of our own cards and those of the enemy. Thus it's difficult to adjust strategy when deploying cards.
