Warmly — An alarm clock

Hi everybody. We are not actively supporting Warmly. Thanks for all the emails, but unfortunately we are unable to continue development on Warmly.
— — — — — —

Warmly is a simple, friendly way to start your day.

Wake up gently with the calm sounds of weather and something you enjoy (like cooking breakfast, brewing coffee, or catching a plane). Just set the time you want to get up and Warmly will plan ahead to make stepping out of bed enjoyable.

A few minutes before your alarm is set to go off, Warmly will get the weather for your location and begin quietly playing ambient sounds. Warmly starts out silent and very gradually turns up the volume so you'll wake up naturally to the sounds of the day and the activity you selected.

Warmly is great as a motivational alarm clock that gets you out of bed naturally. Get a great night's sleep and wake up ready to do awesome things!

HTC USERS!!!

Some users have experienced issues with their phones not waking from sleep to allow the alarm to go off. You may want to set a backup alarm just in case for the first couple days to make sure your device isn't affected.

We're continuing to look into the issue. Thanks for your patience. If it continues to not work for you, email us at [email protected]

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT WARMLY

Warmly is unlike other alarm clocks; it's designed to be super simple and encourage healthy sleep habits.

– Warmly slowly fades in over 5 minutes. This is great to wake up to, but a bit tricky to test by setting the alarm a minute from now and tapping ok.

– Warmly has a persistent notification so you know when the alarm is set. This is the suggested android model for alarm clocks, but some may find it annoying. We're sorry.

HOW TO CHANGE FROM °F TO °C

When the alarm goes off, simply tap on the temperature to toggle between °F and °C. Presto! And your selection will be remembered for next time.

WARMLY FEATURES

– Select from 9 activity sound tracks to start your day: making breakfast, having coffee, cartoon news, working out, zen meditation, a cat, a dog, flying at the airport, and taking a train or subway. – Press and hold on an activity to preview the track.– Integrated local weather when your alarm begins to fade in.– Slow wake-up gradually turns up the volume of weather and activity audio over time.– Simple user interface makes setting the time and selecting activities fast and intuitive.– Change between Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature view by tapping on the weather information.– Vibration used as a last resort, in case you leave your headphones plugged in.– 12-hour and 24-hour clock mode support.– Snooze (9 min increments) while alarm is sounding.– Nice to neighbors: auto-silence after 15 minutes of loudest alarm (in case you leave it on and aren't around).

Execution not so great. The sound effects could use some work and you can't really adjust anything other than the time and audio clip. I guess this app is no longer being developed, and I could set this up manually another alarm app, but would be nice to see someone take the concept further.

I guess this should get 1 star since its an alarm that only works sometimes but when it does work it is great. But you will need a backup alarm because often it goes off without any sound just the screen comes on. They don't support this app anymore either probably due to the disfunctional coding.

Updated review: Snooze button working now on latest version, I use this app all the time now. The only thing I wish I could do is disable the persistent lock screen notification and alarm icon in the tray. Love the way the alarm wakes me up gently. I am far less tempted to snooze than with traditional alarm.

After snoozing the alarm and then turning it off, within a few minutes it will freeze the phone at a black screen. The only resolution is to power cycle your phone. This only broke after the last update, and now The Chaos Collective is not updating the app! I reproduced this on 3 different phones: OnePlus One (CM11), Xperia Z3 Compact (KitKat), Nexus 6 (Lollipop).

its really great, but im missing more options, i mean what if i dont like cats or dogs sounds first thing ij the morning, and the imam or whatever it is doesnt make sense at all, its religion field, optional but not universal. please create maube like an additional sounds file for those who want new ones..,

The sounds are great and I love the minimal style, but there are a few simple things the developer could change to make it outstanding. The alarm sounds need to be louder, setting the alarm needs to be easier (see stock android clock or Google Calendar time set), needs to allow several alarms, and needs to get rid of the constant notification.

I love this app and it's made waking up easier than ever. The only problem I have is that is love if you could set a schedule of alarms. I don't wake up at the same time every day and this means resetting my alarm every night before bed. It'd be great if you could set a week in advance or set a weekly schedule.

Perhaps because of Android update; don't know. Working fine now....OLD: I really like this creative alarm so was disappointed when I discovered it doesn't work on HTC phones overnight. But I discovered a workaround that will allow Warmly to work. HTC owners please try the following. Set an alarm with stock alarm for about 10 minutes before your Warmly is set to go off. Have the alarm play "silent" alarm tone and shut vibration off. The stock alarm will wake your phone up silently and allow Warmly to work.

Works fine on my Samsung Galaxy Tablet. Wakes me daily at the right time, but not on the weekends. Gentle layers of sound mean that I wake up to something gentle every morning. Nothing alarming about this alarm, it feels like a more natural way to wake up.

i used to struggle so much in the mornings - literally impossible to get out of bed. but now with warmly, i look forward to the mornings where i can wake up to the gentle om's and jangly bells, i can get out of bed straight away with no problems. highly recommend to anyone that struggles to get up in the morning.

Thanks for finally getting the idea of a gentle wakeup right, unlike anyone else who's made such a claim. The only downside, and it's really small, is that my phone often seems to stay unlocked even after I've turned the alarm off. Sometimes it goes to the lock screen when I try to access my phone's home page, and sometimes I can go right there with no security code needed. Very slight security issue, but so minor, and otherwise so good, that it still gets 5 stars.

I've been using sleep as android for a very long time and still have trouble waking up with it. With this app, I don't know how, it always makes me feel amazing when I wake up! It has a good impact on my whole day. I am so grateful to have found an app like this. Thank you!!

Waking up with this app really makes my mornings so much better, I'm happy it is available. However, the app could be polished a bit as sometimes it behaves unexpectedly, for example the screen disappears when you try to tap and you need to restart the app. Also, I don't understand why the notification keeps hanging in the notification pane at all times when the alarm is set - that's rather annoying. I also think, it would be nice if there were more sounds to choose from.

It's very nice to wake up with this alarm, it keeps me in a good mood v when waking up, still it's a shame you can only set up 1 unique alarm and no multiple alarms for different situations/days.

For how I use it, I really like this app, particularly the way the screen fades up from dark to light (great in a dark room) and the way the audio increases sound layers over time. The sounds mostly contain white noise variations, which makes for a SUBTLE alarm; even as it increases volume, it can be easy to ignore for those who can tune out noise when sleeping. So I enjoy this mostly to wake up at a smart time on lazy weekends, or use it as a nap timer. However, when I *need* to be up I use a regular alarm, alone or as backup - using Warmly for the "nice to get up" time and my clock for "must get up" time. Used in that way, this is a great primer for the 2nd alarm. It keeps me from oversleeping my clock alarm by creating just enough activity to push me out of delta. PS, never had a problem with it not working, I've had it on multiple devices; I have slept through it, but that's not the app's error. Expect to use it with backup if timing is critical. This app is not for time critical lifestyles.

It's a great app, my default alarm since purchased. Nevertheless, lacks some important features, even for a so called simple alarm, being the most important the option to set multiple alarms, as weekends and week days. It's really annoying having to set the alarm on weekends and risk forgetting to set on Sunday for the rest of the week

I used to love this alarm app, simple, nice ui and a genuinely better way to wake up. Since the last update, most of the sounds are either no longer work or have turned into a faint clicky noise. Boo.

This is a great app but I could suggest some changes. First, every sound option seems to start with birds chirping which has trained me to wake up to birds outside my window even when the alarm is off. No more birds! Second, the yellow screen mimicking sunrise would be much better if it faded in taking about 30 seconds to reach full brightness. Third, the snooze screen could be a little darker and a shade of orange would be nice to mimic sunrise. Better yet, make all that customizable.

I like the idea behind this very much, I also like the sounds and the way it starts. My problem with this app is that it doesn't start at any hour I set.. be it in the morning or if I set it to start within 10-15 minutes. It does start if I set it now to ring in 5 minutes.. but only this way(if the phone is not in sleep mode I guess). Please let me know what I can do to fix this, I would happly rate the app with 5 stars if it worked. My phone is a HTC One V. Thanks!

Mil. G. Aug 30, 2013

The only problem I have is that I seem to be woken by the "weather" sounds before my selected sound has even played. Some way to make the weather quieter or come in later would be useful. Otherwise, a nice execution but a few more sounds would be good.

It doesn't always work, which is the worst possible thing you can say about an alarm. I have just woken up three minutes after my alarm should have gone off, for which I feel incredibly lucky. And I'm going to uninstall warmly.

Unfortunately, Android 6's Doze-Mode suppresses Warmly's alarm, so be aware. It was my favorite alarm clock for some years, too bad it's no longer supported by the dev team. Thanks for the good time anyways, you can keep your 5 star rating.

osk. f. Sep 12, 2017

Dear creators of Warmly. Thank you. I have always dreamed of an alarm that supports ones waking up in a gentle and life affirming way. Warmly is an expression of that. Thank you and love Oskar

The alarm goes off as scheduled, but when I try to use my phone, it locks up in a black screen, and I have to restart the phone to be able to use it. I thought it was malfunction with my phone, but now with a new phone of the same model, and a significant other with the same phone WITHOUT Warmly, I'm pretty sure its the app. Bummer, as I really like the gentle wake-up.
