Watch AFL

Pretty poor. Been paying for a WatchAFL subscription for many years and this is the worst experience. Streaming a game where I live (Dubai) will have a 50/50 chance of success. The game might start. Might not. Or it plays for a while and then the app shuts down. When I return to the game, it offers to restart from when in left off, but always just starts from the beginning of the match again. Downloads only work if you stay in the app. Locking the screen or changing apps stops the download.

The app works really well but the pricing is ridiculous. For example there is a price per week until the grand final week when that option is removed and replaced by a 1 month option at near double the price. But it is generally too high maybe because there is, to me, a lot of uninteresting 'bonus' content (i.e. not games) thrown in so why not make that optional for those who want to pay extra for it, a bit cheaper for those who don't. Or whatever to get the price down.

We live in NZ and subscribed to this at the beginning of the 2019 season. We've found it fantastic - watch most of the games live or on replay each week so find it worth the money. We use the app on our phones and cast to TV. It can buffer at times when playing live and occasionally the quality is a little off but usually resolves itself. Improvements I'd like- percentages shown on the ladder. Also it would be brilliant if there was a "rewind 30sec" button to go back and replay things easily.

Works great with chrome cast. Easy to use. Only annoyance is that there isn't the incremental skipping function in the player menu. I want to be able to skip ahead/back 10 seconds but aren't able to do it without moving the time back by st least 2 minutes, which is frustrating for skipping end of quarter breaks.

App works fine on the phone until you try cast the stream to your TV. App will force close, you can still watch the game on the TV, but you have no control over the stream from the app. This is only a recent issue after the last update, but is a big flaw as I watch all games off my TV. Will be happy to improve the review if bug can be fixed.

Works pretty good for streaming last seasons games, some buffering but not too bad. Trying to play downloaded games doesn't work though, get nothing but "unknown player error" Update: after multiple back and forth efforts with their support dept, there still has been no luck getting downloaded games to play. Not due to a lack of effort on their part though. Upgraded review to 4/5. Working fine streaming the AFLW games live.

Do NOT try to use this app with Chromecast. Connectivity is spotty at best. Customer support is spotty at best...they'll try to tell you it's your problem. This is the ONLY app I have a problem casting through Chromecast. Reading reviews, apparently this is an ongoing problem that they thought would be fixed by "optimizing" to Chromecast 3G... but no. Prepare for utter frustration using this app with Chromecast.

What an awful app/company. You can only subscribe using the website, not the app, and they charge you more to pay in the currency of where you live (i.e. $199 AUD but £130 GBP - way more to pay in pounds). They also don't offer an option to pay in AUD with an Australian bank account, just default to your home country. Can't update payment details either. Don't bother giving them your money.

App was good last year, but now, I had issues playing downloaded games. Won't play. Now I crome cast games, live or replays, no way to pause, or press play. Very sad. Also App keeps closing when trying to watch a game live. I have uninstall Ed app and reinstalled about 5 times now. Now trying to reinstall again, but won't even do that!! Don't think I will be renewing my subscription this year.. Unless it improves quickly!! Still trying to download app again. So annoyed!

would give it a 5 previously but in the last few months keep getting authentication errors and so I have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the application every time I want to go use it to review games live or replays. Contacted customer supportand and reinstallation is the only method to help with the problem. Something is wrong and something needs to be fixed.

You can't use Chromecast with downloaded videos. Pretty dumb. Also: - playback features are poor, no +30 or -30 seconds to quickly skip stoppages - no indicators to show when the quarters start, so you just have to randomly skip forward and then end up half way through the 3rd quarter - it says HD but it is 720p at best and no option to get 1080p or 60fps

Good to be able to watch the footy overseas, but can you try and replicate Optus Sport where if the game is already playing live, then give the option to play from start and pause/rewind while watching the delayed telecast, and even a button to flick to live? Would also be nice to have an option to skip to the next quarter while watching replays. Highlights need to have a condensed version too like on the AFL app, love the mini matches, but 5 min highlights for each game would be great too.

I am totally appalled at the complete lack of response from watch afl. I have emailed them literally 6 times to no avail. They have taken money from my account yet I haven't received a confirmation email so I can't watch any games. All I get is a message saying invalid or unauthorised subscription because they obviously haven't activated my subscription.Don't even deserve 1 star.

During finals you can tell who went through from the Home page. This is done by having Upcoming Matches on the same pages as Match Replays. As finals footy isnt scheduled, seeing the Upcoming teams essentially tells you who went through. Won or lost. I've fed this feedback last year and this year and only got "I've fed this back to the app team". Terrible interface and user experience. My rating will be a 1 star until this is changed and I see interface changed and I've been listened to.

Great app. Best way to watch all the AFL games from Canada. The quality on my Chromecast is great. Even when I had speeds as low as 3mbps I was a lble to watch. I did see a review complaining that you couldn't watch downloaded content using a Chromecast but that isn't how that device works so that really can't be a complaint about the app.

I use the app everyday and love the convenience but every time I try to watch a game on my android device - I press either 'play live' or 'from start' and either time it tries to play through a streaming device.. i have to click 'watch live' 7 or 8 times before it actually begins to load up the actual game which can be frustrating

Great app all around except for the quality when casting to a TV, loses enough quality that it's a little annoying but still great. Should look at how YouTube cast their videos as it works much better or could also usr a TV based app similar to Netflix or Amazon to enable higher quality video.

Works flawlessly across all of my android and windows devices. Can cast to TV with out issue (from a range of Samsung devices and HP laptops to Samsung tv). No problems on mobile data either 4g or 5g. Works perfectly with Amazon silk browser on the Samsung TVs as well.

Been using it for a few years now without any hassle and is good for watching games, replays and footy shows. Just recently whenever try to cast onto the TV the app crashes, still casts but cant use the app. It stops streaming after a while. Have submitted feedback so hopefully resolved soon.

Trying to watch a game replay and it starts in the middle of the 4th of another game. Can't scroll accurately through a game cause the tools are useless. For the cost of the subscription you definitely expect a better app to use the service. No support for Smart TVs is atrocious.

Great when it works, awful if it doesn't. Currently I'm getting error messages when trying to watch content way too frequently, and uninstalling / reinstalling just doesn't work any more. Great idea,poor product unfortunately. Money well spent.....

Rubbish Being in the UK paying $150 just for the finals to only be able to view it on a 7 inch screen or less then... plus it cuts out then you need to reload then ya miss rewalts point to put them through ...I've never payed for footy and I never will again ever. We dont need to be told it's live and free when at home eather Eddie ......because it's not .... STOP trying to buy the sport I've not seen or heard any other prez calling games old Collingwood biass faithful. But it's live and free

I hate this app. I have to reinstall every time I use it. Airplay works 50% of the time. I mean, I've had this app or a version for 5 years, not like they haven't had time to sort it out. Costs more than my Netflix subscription. Really is a stinker.

Rubbish! The buffering is pathetic. No options to set the quality when streaming. If you are on a slower connection it will still try to play highest quality and keep stopping. Unfortunately this mob has complete monopoly on footy streaming so theres no other choice.

Generally runs well, allowing me to see all games through the season from anywhere plus the fox footy media. Some buffering and other strange issues here and there but they are quite responsive and try to help.

Not sure why this app gets a bad app. I tried it for the first time with the finals pass and worked like a charm. The Chromecast feature works smoothly and I thoroughly enjoyed it for 3 weeks. Highly recommend

The app is fine and works with Google Chromecast seamlessly, but is a back or forward button too much to ask? So frustrating when watching a 100+ minute game trying to go back just 30 seconds to rematch something.

okay app on smaller screens but when Chromecasting it is barely acceptable. surely it is not that hard to make the app available directly through a tv. not sure if I will renew next year.
