WATCH TCM

Has been one of my Top 5 Must Have Channels since 1994! TCM is more than just a cable channel, it's become a well respected institution with not just a focus on "Classic Films" and "Old Movies" but a focus on film as a medium, it's impact on the world and as an art form.

Whomever is responsible for the aesthetic of this app should be let go or at the very least demoted. The decision to make the thumbnail for the individual movies darker at the top is beyond moronic. Your app does a great disservice to these wonderful movies in my opinion.

Using Samsung phone. App only functions if default browser is Chrome, not Brave or Opera. Otherwise, app fails to resolve provider (uverse) login page. It crashes, resulting in the app thinking login has been completed, but without authorization! Thusly, no movies will play.

The app requires you sign in with your cable provider. For some reason, it doesn't work with DirectTV. I used to be able to just hit "play" and see movies; no more! I cannot use your app anymore because of this rediculous requirement. I'll be Uninstalling and looking for another classic movie source. Very disappointed in this unnecessary change. Thanks for nothing!

Reccomended. Love it, need it, crave it. No need for some of the more recent content mixed with the real classics...and the new unbearable super-slow-motion left-to-right and back again pan during the host intros...you have my complete attention, you don't need focus group test cinematographic tricks to keep it...Also not thrilled with no subscription without an additional account through a third party carrier...I will pay for the privilege of having TCM all by itself, so will everyone else.

So far so good. The app is a little glitchy though so I can't give it 5 stars. Every so often the movie I'm watching freezes for a few seconds when I'm casting on Chromecast. This doesn't happen on other movie apps that I cast from like Netflix or Hulu. -- UPDATE: After about a week of using this app it keeps crashing and won't let me sign in through my cable provider. I see other reviews that mention the same problem. I can't understand why the developers don't fix this. 😡

Adding titles to the watchlist never work. Sometimes takes multiple tries, sometimes they will just never show. It would be great to 1. Be able to add a bunch of titles at once instead of clicking into each movie, adding it one at a time, then going to the watchlist and finding none of them were added, and 2. Get notified when titles are due to expire, if you were successful in adding them to your watchlist. I love TCM but this app is so broken it's not funny.

Useless. You login, watch a movie, but the next time you want to use the app it fails with an error. The only way to fix it is to log out and go through the annoyingly long login process again. After a half a dozen times of this it's just not worth it. Unistalling the not-ready-for-prime-time app. BTW, the app for the smart TVs and Fire TV are no better. I've tried both and the fail to.

I am a huge fan of TCM. I have had this app installed on both my phone and tablet from it's inception. This latest "update" to the app has made it virtually unwatchable, when it was just fine the way it was before! Such an amazing array of movies to choose from, yet 90% of the time, the movies will not even load, with the same "error" or "please retry" message popping up. By way of reading other reviews, I at least know I am far from the only one with this same problem. Very disheartening.

Chromecast viewing no longer works!! 6/28/20. Since I can't Chromecast TCM app from my iPad app (why is this not an option?!?), I've been using my Android phone and it's worked fine for months. Suddenly a week or two ago, I can no longer Chromecast from the TCM app. It just suddenly stopped working. I select a movie, it loads like it's going to start, and then goes right back to the logo screen. Please fix! This is the only way I watch!!! I'm lost without my TCM!!

As others previously mentioned, the app is no longer useful beyond watching movies. I used the schedule frequently to set my DVR and my viewing schedule and that can be done via the cable app or TV. The TCM schedule was great and more convenient as you could easily see and navigate a week of programming. I also miss being able to set favorite actors. In software development there is a thing called user experience and the latest TCM app update fails in that regard.

The app doesn't have a search function but other than that it works flawlessly on my samsung android phone. No buffering issues, both east and west coast feeds. Loads quickly. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews for this app. I've had it for quite sometime and although they don't have every movie in thire library there is more than enough to kerp you entertained with an outstanding collection of classic films. You can even create a favorites list. I'd rate it 10 stsrs if possible

You TRY to open the app, and you wait. After several minutes (could be 10, could be 20) it may open. Or it may force you to login again. Then it will s l o w l y open a provider page, where you have to provide your cable information AGAIN. If it allows you in. The home page opens as dreadfully slowly as all the previous steps you've taken to get this far. When you finally select a movie, it buffers and buffers and buffers. I think once you go through all this it will play a movie.

That app miraculously works again! My version is the last version from May 2nd, not the current one which is May 4th. I don't have this app on auto update since it's been having issues. It hadn't worked for many, many months. So glad it's back working again! My Internet has been down for about a week, and being able to use this app on my phone has been a pleasure. I dare not update this app, at least not until my Internet is working giving my other options to watch.

No schedule, just an ugly mess, miss the old app, search never works. Website as alternative never works, doesn't load anything either. Closed captions are a mess, when they work. This isn't what Osborne built. Doesn't work, nothing loads, Live just error. On once out of 50 tries a movie actually loads and plays, it always crashes. No one has hours to waste on trying to watch 85 min classics. Why change a near perfect app to this ugly thing?

Most films are not on the app. There are NO dates for when things will expire. My provider is in a snit with TCM, so TCM doesn't allow me to build a play list or pick up where I left off in a movie. And there is no picture in picture viewing. What's the point of having an app that has such horrible functionality? Awful. They should seriously fire the developers.

I am not a subscriber and will not be. I used to have either cable or satellite (depending on where I lived) but chose to disconnect due to the CONSTANTLY increasing cost. Spending WELL over $100 per month to watch a grand total of three channels seems ridiculous. I get apps for only what I want and pay considerably less. As a result of no longer paying for satellite, I cannot use the TCM app. Paying for 135+ unused channels just to watch TCM well, it's just crazy. Sad, too. I do miss my movies.

This update removed the Collections category from the menu, so I'm now forced to seek the films I missed individually. I missed a whole night of Women Make Film while travelling, and the Collections option would've made catching up so easy! Also, for some reason, few of the films from that night are still available, even though ones shown the week before are. Don't even get me started on what TCM has done to their web site - no more reminders of next showings, & MANY more issues. Very sad....

The new version of the app has a noise that plays every time you launch it, and you cannot disable it. I understand this is common on TV apps but this shouldn't be done on a mobile app, it's jarring. The mobile app does not let you view info on currently playing movies like the Watch TCM website does. Lack of search continues to be an issue.

Something wrong with it, doesn't seem to work on Android anymore - frozen deep. Worked well earlier. Uninstalled, reinstalled, still same. Keeps asking for cable provider every start (pointless for cable cutters). Fed in details many times, now I can't see Spectrum, my service provider. The list of premium cable SPs is blank, need to physically click each blank icon to find Spectrum. Logged in, now my watchlist is erased. Endless buffering while searching. Depleted content. Developer, help!

This app is not user friendly. I had the old app and it was wonderful. I know you are focusing on streaming and no doubt you will soon charge for it but I just want more info about the movie. Anyway this one makes you sign in through your cable provider (instead of simply picking it based on your zip.) And damned if I can remember my password. Don't like that. Too many entities know exactly what I am doing already.

Pretty good video playing service. Some real good movies thing is they aren't all avalible at one time like netflix or hulu theres a rotation of the films which is annoying but fine. The fact based on your internet provider you get it free is great. In all the display watching the films is great with little streaming problems. I say its a good app for old film buffs but there may be better apps out their that I don't know of.

Installed without a issue on my Samsung tablet and seems to work correctly except for the many times noted lack of functional search. The catalog seems very thin, considering the total available. I would think that more films would be available from this large collection. Otherwise, it's not bad.

TCM app on Roku, closed caption stops working after using fast forward feature in the middle of the film....have to completely restart the movie....

We upgraded from just internet to a cable subscription so we could use the app to cast. This thing is garbage. It freezes every 10 mins and will not allow to disconnect the cast...you have to go to another app and cast that in order to disconnect and reset! What a joke! It froze 3 times on an hour and a half movie that we just got too frustrated to finish. PLEASE fix this app! This is a disgrace and Robert Osborne would be ashamed at such a horrible way to treat classic movies...
