Shoot X's, pods, and spinners, and fly through space, level to level.
You also have a "superzapper", which is a special weapon that instantly destroys all X's that are on the board. This zap can be used once per round.
Use the "fire" and "zap" buttons to fire and zap. Move your ship by using a circular touch motion on the game board (like the selection wheel on an iPod)......OR, slide your thumb up and down the side of the screen, if you don't like the circular motion. Either works.
This was made because...I missed the old school coin-op days, and I wanted to play this classic on my Android devices.

Great job on Tempest..very challenging..So much like the original that took so many of my quarters..i only wish their was a external knob controller that could be plugged into phones micro port...then it could also be used for possible future games like breakout...awesome game..thanks!!!!
This is fantastic! I remember also playing the old coin operated Tempest arcade game.... I've looked many times to find it. Finally tried again and found this app. Nice job!! Its so great to have this!! Took a 50 year old right back to the old arcade days. Thanks so much!!!
Finally someone got the controls right for this game! Nice work! I hope you continue to flesh out the nuances of the original, but for now this is the best Amdroid version of the greatest arcade game ever made!
Looks and feels like the arcade version. Controls are somewhat hard. Other than that works.

I loved tempest when it first came out..when my ship rolls in I'm going to buy the original arcade game!! 10/16/21 my ship still hasn't flown in, but I still effin love this game!!
I've been asking for this game for sometime, in fact, a watch face maker (Jorge R.S.) for smart watches has made Mr. & Ms. Pac-Man, and asked if he could make Tempest, he's looking into it but thank the heavens I found this version, which satisfied my soul. Thanks and good work!
Not worth it. Very sad. This game looks and acts like the old 80's Tempest. But it is too hard to play on a phone or other device. And if I can't take it with me, what's the point? Just my opinion.
Why do I have to keep going back to level four even if I'm on level five? I should be able to resume my current level. Makes no sense

I have an trueconnect tablet and the gameplay is dragging and extremely choppy Causing unescessary loss and frustrating experience
Controls take some getting used to, but it's a good ride in the way-back machine.

I like it. I relived my memories, but uninstalled. I think if the interface gets cleaned up a bit, it could be great. I would suggest left/right movement controls on the left and a single fire button on the right. This may not be faithful to the original, but it's not faithful now either. My main problem was the ship moved too fast and the necessary shooting dynamics left it impossible to accurately control. I recommend some processor checking and some speed control based on that. I'm on a Pixel C with a K1 chip....
Gives me the same rush as the original but I wish there was a way to make the interface better. My fingers cover the game such that I can't see trouble coming. Other than that it is a great recreation.
Takes me back to the arcade game, only no need to feed quarters! Controls take some getting used to, but they're about as good as they can be, on such a small screen. Still hate the spiders & spikes.
