App lacks a bit of control and now is defaulting to standard definition vs eco mode. This is difficult to deal with when you are using the cell connection vs wifi. You can't just make one a default in the app. You have to change it for each camera. That setting is forgotten once you restart the app.the app just seems very beta version. ETA 04-25-2021 Now they just broke the whole app. The only thing that works is live view. The only portion of this system that has been OK is the hardware.
Still testing but reluctant to wire up the cameras due to so many issues. Manufacturer left barely visible protective film on the IR lens. No mention of it being there in the instructions. Alerts are inconsistent. The Windows 10 and Android apps seemed like they're developed by two different companies. Tons more funtionality in the Windows 10 but a lot doesn't work. The user manual is lame. Stumbled across an "advanced" manual not mentioned anywhere but it appears to be for Win 10.
After the update, Notified wd of pinch zoom issue and I want to revert back to last version. Over a week later the reply was a phone number to who I should call about the issue. Update: The latest update from 12.10.21 seems to be working now....Thanks
Can we go back to the version that worked when I first got it? It says the latest update has bug fixes. Whatever those bugs were, they were not as annoying as the inability to zoom in without crashing the app. Stinks this is tied to hundreds of dollars of hardware and there is no alternative.
I wanted to let people know if you're having issues connecting to the system via cellular connection like i was,. Its not this app that is the problem. It was google carrier services. If you can switch your phone to 3g it allowed me to connect to my cameras again. But it wouldnt connect with LTE. But the latest carrier services update has fixed the connection issue.
Very poor app. Navigation through the menus is inconsistent, sometimes hangs. Full setup requires access through Only Internet Explorer due to being Java based apparently. Receiving constant alerts that appear to be from bugs flying across the camera. Makes the alerts useless. I would not purchase this system again.
After resetting my phone, the app no longer works. That's why I bought the system, the WD name and it supposedly did what I needed- to view video from my phone remotely. If you've bought this system and haven't opened the box, I would return the whole system. Tech support from I'm guessing India. Tech support is completely useless. Made 2 tickets for the same issue and no one has the ability to help. I'm guessing WD is still recovering from the Red fiasco.
This system rocks. love it. Simple and easy setup, works great. App itself could use a notification control (disable/enable), but all in all it's wonderful for creating simplicity. WD just needs to add in a proper webview/control to view on a desktop and the ability to access each cameras individual ip address for using other ipcam apps for viewing (I don't like installing the WD app on other family members phones because they can change nvr settings. I want them to view only).
Do not upgrade. If you have a working older version, do not upgrade it, newer version stopped working
Worked great at first. No port forwarding needed. Just scan the code and go! I don't get what's changed since then but the problem persists across multiple devices. I can now view on my home wifi but not over cellular. It would be nice to have this port information included with the original documentation or even online. Here's to google searching and configuring my router without official documentation. Way to go WD! Edit: To add insult to injury, this app tests great on iphone...
Pretty good for 1 year until these two weeks. I dont know what was changed. Sometimes the app stop me fron viewing through celluar connection. It always works with home wifi. WD please fix this problem. Updated: Can WD update the app to fix the celluar connection problem that cause the app "network error"???
Just installed yesterday, so far no major problems. However did notice that the alerts are recorded and not an actual ring alert to device other than what you have set as email/notification. Registering was rather easy, good clarity. Also to record you may choose any camera and press record to record that camera activity. Recommend getting familiar with cameras, finally I am able to share with all family members that need to see the home.
The technology is great for the price, but the documentstion is sparce and WD refers you to Microcenter for tech support. Microcenter tries to be helpful but its obvious that they're trying to figure it out just like me. User forums indicate that other users are having tech problems too.
App is awful... about 75%... of the time it doesn't work... there is never any app updates... which is very odd... it always crashes. It need MAJOR development... if you can check the cameras...what is the point? Junk.
Everything is great except that it crashes after 30 seconds or so and just closed the program. You have to reopen it. If you are trying to watch playback it is impossible.
It use to work for the most part, but a recent update crashes the application when you try to zoom in on a video feed. I'm guessing they don't have very good QA Analysts or that the Devs have to QA their own work. 😬
App works ok. Crashes/Closes very often which is very annoying... But overall, it does the job, I guess... No complaints about the rest of the system though. Just this garbage app.
Work great with low resolution mode and freezed with HD mode specialy for 4k camera. The camera is great but the application not to the camera level. I think the application need to be updated to work correctly with 4K camera.
Trying to setup, and most screens just spin trying to load, but never loading
The app works great for the 30-60 seconds it runs. After the alloted time the app just ceases to function without an error. I do not know if WD is even supporting this product any longer. Would be great if there were also better instructions in the app, or be able to use the interface available on internet explorer.
