We're Related

I would have given it at least 4 stars, initially. It has had a roughly 33% hit rate with people who are distant cousins. (The tree paths weren't necessarily correct, but they were still hits by another path.) I really wish it could make it further than the 13 or 15 generations, but it has still been useful. However, in recent months, the app has been losing its server connection -- only working occasionally. It appears to be the fault of the app, not the device or connection.

The app only works part time. It goes a week or so without doing anything, then all of a sudden it will throw three or four possibilities at you at once. You can report problems on the app, but no one responds to the issues. Sometimes it will start a scan and just sit there spinning until you close the app. Other times someone will tell you that according to the app, on their end, that you are related and you do not get the same person to show up in your list.

I have not been able to access app for several months now. I have no idea how to contact someone for assistance. When I first open app it says there is an error connecting to server, error getting account. It only prompts me to log in via facebook, yet Ancestry no longer allows facebook sign in. I used to use this to suppliment hints to my family tree, but I guess that is no longer an option. I kept hoping that an update will come out to fix the issue, but nope. Guess I will be deleting app.

It was a great App- Not sure why this app has been discontinued. I really enjoyed seeing all the possible relatives and checking the lineage against my own work. It was a HUGE help to many of us that struggle finding verification in parts of our family tree. Bring it back!!

I loved it when it worked. Now it won't let me log in, saying it has errors with trees and connecting to the server. Please fix this, I've noticed other reviewers have mentioned similar issues.

I love this app. it is so easy to use and so fun to see who you might be related to. I see the need for y friends and family to use the app as well I am especially excited to see the people that I know personally and see almost every week as possible relatives. I am also possibly related to some famous people, coolness overload!!!

This was a brilliant app when it worked a few years ago. & Well I just came across it again, so decided to re download it, the only problem i have now is I don't have fb anymore so Is there any chance of making it were you dont have to log into fb to gain access ...

Was not just fascinating but really helpful. If you took all the data with a grain of salt and researched/verified you could come across a ton of interesting expansions to your tree. I'm sad they discontinued it. It used to really enhance my Ancestry subscription.

It searched on my phone for over 1 hour, and then got an oops, something went wrong error message. I have not been able to get any informant on n. What a waste of time and battery power!

Upset that this is no longer working as I thoroughly enjoyed using it and finding people I know who are distantly related to me. I loved seeing the historical figures, regardless of who they were good and bad, that I was related to as well as some of the celebrities. It helped me to confirm some family connections. I'd love to see someone bring it back and continue. I had no idea that it was going to be discontinued. Please reconsider as I see that I'm not the only one who loved this.

This used to be a great app but lately it's been junk. Nothing loads and new relatives are not being loaded. This app needs a major overhaul. So many people are frustrated and ready to uninstall this app.

Favorite app ever and ancestry is making a HUGE mistake as well as the developer with disconituing it. I use it everyday and dont even use the regular ancestry app at all (I just use the website directly). It has helped me with brick wall direct grandparents and aunts and uncles.I've only had 2 celebrities that were completely incorrect so far and 1 was just a wrong sibling as the parent. Please reconsider stopping all the relatives showing on August 15th!!!! I have 394 to verify still. Will miss

used to love this app. now i can't even log on. it says "error communicating with server try again later". what does that mean? i restarted my phone, force stopped the app and uninstalled and reinstalled it. still says the same thing. fix this or i will uninstall.

I am finding some information on relatives that I through the app, but with a lot of research to check if they connect. It should let you search by using both living and deceased relatives. Also, it needs better ways to check to see if relatives connect before making suggestions.

Loved it until I couldn't access it anymore. Get an error message saying the app is not set up, still in development you don't have access to it. When that's fixed I will change my rating.

Worked a few times. Now get error message and it won't open. I uninstalled it then reinstalled it but still get the error message. Waste of time and space on my phone.

I am an older woman and really enjoy seeing with whom I am possibly related. Albeit, the famous all seem to be 8th cousins. Lol. The only part I don't like is that when you pick a person to look at how you're related then exit, it immediately starts all over - no matter where you are on the list. It may be an Android problem but when you pick a person to look at then exit, it takes you immediately to the top of the page instead of allowing you to go on to the next person. Kind of like a yo-yo - it goes up but when you're wanting to continue down. Even if you want to continue to the bottom of the list it will take you to the top every time to start at the beginning. But I love finding out that I am supposedly related to famous people. On my list is Johnny Depp and Miley Cyrus which makes sense since they're both from areas near my state of West Virginia. Then there is Carrie Underwood, Kate Upton and even Michelle and Barack Obama along with Kanye West. Wish it were Khloe.😁 Plus historical figures of the past and even presidents. So it very eclectic and across the board of various famous. Of course, I'll never meet them but it is very interesting since I'm not a tabloid person and like true facts.

What do you get with the matches in this app? Nothing but fantasy. Mostly just a bunch of unresearched information pulled from trees with fanciful genealogical matches. Some of the funniest include someone's great grandfather who was born over 100 years after them. They usually always go back to a British king. What a joke.

It's fun to see if you're related to your facebook friends and famous people. However, it's heavily dependent on your tree. The byu roots and family search is still superior to this app. I'm sure it will get better for me when I add more people to the ancestry tree on my account.

I have been unable to use this application for the past week. Each time I go into it it gives me an error message that states there's a problem with the server and I am unable to sign in.

It's nice as a starting point, but it gives you ancestors from the central tree on Ancestry and there are many errors to look out for. Always verify.

Always going down, non existent support through app. Have to change home person to grandparents to get more matches. When it's up, receive matches, and better support it would be 5-star

Some of the matches make assumptions on ancestors that are wrong. But I have found some new info from it. Though been mislead 2 times. With that in mind it is very fun to see possibilities.

Doesn't even load. Try to sign in and all it keeps saying is "error loading trees please try later". Don't waste your time, not worth the effort to download. Deleted it because I couldn't even try it.

The We're Related app will be discontinued on August 15th, 2019. Starting on that day, the app will no longer load when opened, and you won't be able to access information in the app. We appreciate the dedication many have shown to the We're Related app.

I have had so much fun with the app. it gives you a sense of who you are in the historical context of the world. You need to research for accuracy what comes up but that's interesting too.
