The old interface was much better. The map used to show rain, clouds etc and could be advanced in time so you could see the possibility of rain; now it is just a useless piece of eyecandy. The 5 day hourly forecast is still good, but bring back the old version. Thanks for the reply, I can now access the maps. The old method was, however, still better.
Have to say I find the make-over a bit of a disappointment as I loved the old 2x1 widgets but the new ones are so incredibly bland (and have no wind speed). Can't understand what possessed you to replace the rich graphics of the widgets with extremely dull monochrome versions. The rest of the app is absolutely spot on and a delight to use and look at.
I was looking for something to replace UK Weather as support had ceased and it failed to work after the last Android update. I tried various apps and hated them all. Found this one and updated it to the ad free version within two days. It does just what I want and I love it. The only (minor) quibble is I can't adjust the darkness/lightness on the widget to suit my homescreen design.
Love this app. For me, it is the best weather app in the UK. There is a lot of detail in it; rain radar, cloud radar, rain & cloud, satellite images, weather station observations, pressure charts, warnings, and much much more. I particularly like that it doesn't 'jump on the snow bandwagon' like so many apps and give ridiculous, and very often, erroneous snow warnings. It's far more factual than other apps that I have tried. Credit to the developer. Just one thing...please keep updated to Pie.
On the widget it only shows the weather for my county and not just my town like it used too, what on earth is going on, same goes for the main screen, I have to select my home town each time, otherwise it only shows my county, PLEASE, change it back, or at least give us the users the ability to select which look we prefer, I really hate when things are just forced on us.... I have used this app since it first came out and have loved it, I am now thinking of going to have a look at the others...
Just upgraded to this paid app, after a few years of the free one [I was encouraged by a £2 offer from Google towards an app]. Yes, the app is £4.25, but if you love your weather watching, I recommend this one. I love the upgraded widget for the home screen, which can be set at 3 hourly or 5 dayly, so you have it at a glance. The adds have gone as well! There is much more detail which you can choose to impliment, or not. I could go on, but like you, I hate reading exhautive reviews. Samsung S10+
Nice and simple, yet full of information. Has everything i essentially need and love the maps and text discription. The graphs are easier to read and I can actually understand what their for now. BUT...The only thing I can pick on is there is still currently NO symbols for the shaded areas on the warning maps to indicate what the warning is for and with multi warnings out it can become very confusing. But local warning details are perfect!
Decided to go for the paid version as I spend a lot of time trail running and going to the Yorkshire Dales & Scotland. First impressions are really good but I would like to see a level of customisation if I'm paying for something, in my case, I would like to move the Mountain Rescue section which gives your coordinates to the Main Screen. If I got injured in a remote spot I might not have the presence of mind to go searching through menu's.
Provides comprehensive information without the razzmatazz! A reason problem was identified & corrected very promptly. Well worth trying out.
Brilliant, simple little app with everything the normal person needs. Very reliable, always runs faultless on my S21. I mainly use the forecast for the next 5 days and the map if I want to see what's happening in more detail. Not 100% perfect but the best out of all the apps I have tried.
Has been my go to app for many years. New design of app itself is ok. Like the sumnary screen. Would prefer option of classic look for widget as new widget design are very dull, boring and too similar to the rest. Edit 22nd Feb : Realistic design icons for weather widget has re-appeared in overnight update. Review back up to 5 stars
It's a nice app, but what weather app is really worth it unless it has a good widget? This one does, but it just won't automatically update on my phone, so I was always stuck with the forecast from yesterday when getting up in the morning. I contacted the dev and he was as much use as a chocolate fireguard and told me "good luck" sorting it out.
The best app for people who are actually interested in the (UK) weather, and want to see pressure charts and so on. Been using this for years, tried other apps but always come back. The recent update to the look-and-feel is excellent.
Paid for the app as i really liked the simple and clear layout and design and the fact that it uses Met Office data. The widget is good too. But I later realised that it only forecasts 4 days in advance. Developer got in touch to say that he is restricted due to Met Office data feed. Hopes that a future change may allow him to offer this though.
A great clean app. works well so far, very impressed! My only concern is that its using the met office data which I've found isn't always the most accurate. However I'm sure this wont stop it being a very valuable resource.
Intelligently thought through app - a summary screen rich in information without being cluttered, and granular data available in the details page. Some apps choose to show details for 14 days (difficult to trust forecasts so far in advance), others choose only 2 (not enough!), this app gets it spot on with 5. A big well done, from a software developer who really appreciates usability.
Much prefer the vertical scrolling layout on this compared to the met office horizontal layout. Overall i like the customisation of the detail screen as i can get it show all that i need without having to scroll around like in other apps. Nice job.
Have used thid app (paid version) for several years. It is one of the best ones for the UK down to hourly detail. New version had good clear summary graphics. Weather warning map area clear tho would benefit from identifying type of warning eg fog, heavy rain snow, gales etc
Great interface, let down by terrible accuracy and data. Rain is often predicted then vanishes, the detail view is changing all the time if the weather is mixed. A better data feed would really improve things
Weather information not updating since latest programme update. Finally updated after an hour & updates quickly on each viewing. Problem occurs after rebooting device & cache has been cleared. I still consider this app to be far better than the UK Met Office app that was ruined by a "new broom" update some time ago. Thank you!
Have been using the paid version of this app for years. Easily the best weather app for UK. I like the new design but am now missing the mountain forecasts which is one of the main reasons I got the paid for version. Any plans to bring these to the new version?
Love the app and its new look but please bring back the old widgets (they had far more info on them) and make the "Detail" screen narrower so all the icons fit on it (and I do have a wide screen) - perhaps make "Precip Prob" narrower by having the heading on 2 rows.
Looking for a replacement for Dark Sky and found this. Clear layout, detailed UK local forecasts and doesn't use Dark Sky data (which gets pulled next year). Presents Met Office data better than the Met Office own app. Very happy with it.
Nice visual improvement but only limited functionality compared to the old version. I'd like to see observation data added back in please. That was the reason I used this app over alternatives.
Great app but the widget will only update manually.
Thanks for taking the time to resolve the strange problem I was experiencing, highly responsive dev which has fully explained the issue and offered a temporary workaround... App is back to being the best in class..
