I really wanted to like this app, but it completely ignores the Android notification preferences now. Even after changing the settings to "Show silently" and disabling the sound preference, the sound goes off. It'd be nice if it honored the current sound settings, but at the least it should honor when notification preferences are disabled.
This was once a great app. Now I hardly ever get the lightning alerts I paid for. I definitely will not be renewing that subscription. The weather warnings are no longer timely and reliable. This app needs a major update to fix these issues.
This app isn't updated any more, so I use Storm Shield for voice weather alerts. The text-to-speech voice is a lot louder with that one. If voice alerts is one of the primary features you're looking for, ditch this app and check out Storm Shield.
I really like this app, but it seems as though WDT has forsaken it. Last update was in 2018. It also doesn't seem to provide warnings if the app hasn't been opened in a while. Please bring back support.
During tornado season I would be watching this app while at work and family would be watching the news on their tv. The radar would line up with the fortcast online. I recommend this app if you want something to ease your mind during the stormy seasons.
Not sure how the rating isn't higher? I swear by this app and have used it for years. With all the recent severe weather, I've again had first hand experience with knowing how well this app works.
The main draw of the app is that it will wake you up if there is a severe storm in the middle of the night. Last night I had a very bad storm move through and it made not a peep. Please fix this.
All around good informative information and support is Excellent!! I've used this app for years!
Great app...back in the day. Hasn't been updated in almost three years.
Not a weather radio at all does not give alot of info on what is needed during a storm 👎
Was a great app back in the day. Hasn't been updated in years.
When it works the right way it's the best !
The radar function is not working on my Galaxy S5. Alerts are good though. Will definitely be 5 stars if the radar issue is fixed. Edit Oct. 2019: Forgot that I had left this review. I've used this app consistently for two years. If that doesn't earn a 5 star, idk what does.
James Spann recommended this app. I used other's like bug and others this is the BEST. Worth every penny. Not a data hog, no ads, alerts flawless, radar spot on. I don't hand out 5 stars. Please don't sell out to Google like other apps have done. 08/20/2019- used to work great now nada, no alerts warnings etc.
Ever since the update my phone shows the app is using battery. Also it shows a alert for my area but when you click on the alert it open the app. When you close the app I get a message showing I have an alert again. Kiss my $5.00 good by.
I think the Oreo update broke the voice alerts. It only alerts by the default ringtone.
COMPLETE waste of money..
It's quite useful; I like being able to look at tornado warnings, etc., across the country to see what's going on. This app literally saved us from driving straight into a tornado on Christmas Day 2015; however, I no longer receive any alerts, and I frequently have to force close the app and re-start it to get updated radar. I don't use it much anymore just because it's not as reliable as it used to be, although I would happily use it again if these bugs are fixed. It's also not very intuitive.
Sadly, like many others, this app is just not what it once was. I used to rely on it heavily, but now it is worthless. Where I used to get a loud voice notification, now I only get a default phone selected sound. While you could pick one that's loud or noticable, it just doesn't have the same effect. I have now deleted this app. The real shame here is I have been using it for around 8 or so years and back then it was in excess of 10$ to purchase. Factor in years of lightning detection and I'm at 50+$ in this app that they just let go to hell. (Fyi, this is all true of a galaxy note 8 android that I'm using it on)
The NWS signal where I live is pitiful. I have called them about it, but they tell me, "You can get an email (when the tornado is about to mow your house down!) " I don't want damned email or text message. I need something that will wake me up. Since I have a strong WiFi in my house this is no problem. Good app. Informative. Easily worth $5. Thanks, Art S for recommending it to me.
The weather radio is vague and not a noaa report. The weather radio on this application tells you the temperature and that the sky is clear, even when it's raining..... There are free apps out there that give you that little bit of information and more accurate. If this app had a real noaa radio feed I would give it 5 stars and it would be worth the money. Instead I just donated $4.95. Maybe some day this app will be updated with a noaa feed. If and when that update comes, I will update my review.
I've owned this app for many years. It always worked flawlessly up until this year. It will not show "cloud cover" regardless of what settings you change on the map anymore. As a landscape photographer, this was the most important feature for me in purchasing the app. Please fix this and all the other bugs. Notifications on Android are hit or miss at best. Kinda defeating the whole purpose of the app to begin with.
