Used to be amazing, was my go-to weather app for as long as I can remember, across multiple phones. Recently (due to a new developer, from what I understand) the app has become trash. Removing the ability to change weather providers was a huge mistake, and the provider we're forced to use is unreliable and inaccurate. Currently sitting indoors unable to leave where I'm at because of a thunderstorm that I didn't know was going to happen since this app told me there was "less than a 20% chance of rain".
The app itself is as great as it used to be, but I've lost all trust in the accuracy of the data in the app. Even the icons and temperatures for current conditions are drastically off at times. Combined with the fact that forecasts only go 6 days into the future, I often find myself ingoring the widget on my first home page entirely and opening my web browser to look up the weather instead. It's a real shame given how nice the app still is, and I can only hope that the accuracy improves in time.
Update: was great now it's only so-so. still clean and uncluttered but its not as accurate as it was since you can't choose the data provider. I'm a paid subscriber but I'm looking for a new app. Original review: Best weather app there is. Presentation is clean and uncluttered. You can control the source of the forecast data too - it's very detailed and accurate. *****
You ruined a fantastic app. The new UI is trash, the data source is trash, and now you won't even show projected precipitation totals. If my review says it's from an older version, it's because I just got a new phone and thought the wrong app was installed on my new one when I saw it. I'm posting this from my old phone that's no longer registered to any cell network, which has the final working version of this one great app.
Can't say I've noticed a major decline in weather quality like so many other users. Sure its occasionally inaccurate and definitely not nearly as good as it was with dark sky but it's still one of the best looking weather apps on Android right now. I would really love it if they brought back the ability to change the weather API provider. Locking it to your own API doesn't seem like the most user friendly option.
I was wondering what happened to this app. I had been using it for a long while and with the sudden changes, I had to see what happened. I'm glad I saw recent reviews, as that explains everything. Removing multiple sources for weather forecasts is on thing, but days do not start at 6 freakin' am. This drives me up the wall because I wake up before 6am,so this completely screws up how I look at the weather, even moreso because I have to look across multiple time zones. Uninstalling and moving on.
Purchased this app last year and loved it. unfortunately now they removed the old data providers and the new one is terrible -- constantly incorrect and reporting things like "clear moon" at 3 pm or "high temperature of 25" when it is 40 degrees outside. I regret paying for it now. Edit: it also shows the heat index or wind chill instead of the actual temperature. As far as i can tell there is no way to change this.
The rise and fall of what was the greatest weather app. I tried to hold out for an update that would restore it. I used this app for years and loved it. However a new company took over and it has not been the same experience. The app itself is beautiful and highly customizable, however the weather predictions have been extremely unreliable since the newer company took away the source option.
I have loved this app for years, so much so that I PAID for it. For a few weeks I've noticed that the weather was often off, sometime showing that it's raining when it's a clear sky, quite often being off by 2-5 degrees. I figured I'd change the data provider to a more reliable one like AccuWeather but oh wait the feature was apparently removed. What a mess, I can no longer trust this app for my weather forecast. It's sad as this app looks amazing.
Once was great, now is garbage. Purchased because it was beautifully designed but now the data is completely useless. Writing this as I am currently in a severe thunderstorm but according to the app there's only a 11% chance of rain... If it only happened occasionally I would let it slide but it has consistently let me down over the past few months. Find a better app for your needs.
It was an amazing app, I used it more than 2 years. It still has an amazing UI design and great widgets. Yet Myradar literally made me hate the app, none of the recent weather forecasts are near to being accurate. They are just completely wrong. I hate to say that but do not bother using this app. Find something else with a good UI.
I've been using this app for a few years, however recently I've noticed the predictions are no where near as accurate as they used to be, you where able to choose from multiple weather forecast sources before but that option is gone. Also the clock is an hour slower then it should be with no way to change it. Not sure what is going on. Hopefully it all get fixed soon
I love the design, the widgets and the long-term hourly forecast, but none of that matters if the data is inaccurate, which it has been ever since the MyRadar takeover. In the UK it will often have the same unvarying hourly precipitation data for the entire day (e.g. 60%), and it won't rain at all. The app used to predict rain by the minute. I can't see the new owners giving access to any other APIs, but theirs is unusable so sadly I have to switch.
The new proprietary API installed on 2/14/19 is absolutely horrible, at least in my city. At the moment, the app says it's 17-degrees. It's actually 27 outside. Hasn't been 17 in days. Also says it's snowing outside, but it's not. I've had this app for a long time and really appreciated that you could choose from several data sources. I was able to choose one that most closely matched the actual weather. As it stands, the app has been rendered useless. Please fix it.
The current developer has completely ruined what used to be a beautiful and extremely accurate weather app. My experience is identical to other recent reviews: temperatures are wildly inaccurate, forecast says it will be raining when the temperature is 20 degrees below freezing, etc. The app is so nonfunctional, I believe it may have nefarious purposes. I will stick it out for another update or two, but I don't have much confidence that anything will change.
The app used to be great, but since a new developer bought it, it's gone downhill. No more sources to pick from, and what I find especially egregious about it is that the screenshots still say "Powered by Forecast.io" which isn't even a thing anymore (it's now Dark Sky). If the data sources and features have changed, the screenshots should be changed to reflect that. Otherwise it's just misleading to people who may find the app but not read the reviews. Months later and same problems.
No good since switch to MyRadar data. Best interface and widgets I've seen, but what used to be very accurate data from user-selectable sources is now routinely wrong about things like whether it not it is CURRENTLY raining, and not for a brief period but for many hours per day, every day. Temperature is often way off for some reason too, maybe not updated often or something, hourly forecasts seem way less reliable, etc.
I've had this app for quite awhile, now like everyone else the new weather data source gives wildly inaccurate forecasts and current weather. Both temperature and events (rain, snow, wind, etc) are so far off I've been going to the weather Channel website every morning instead. When raising the same issues with the support email, I receive the same canned response which asks to send in a screen shot of the app when it's not showing the correct details. Downloading weather underground now.
Was a good, simple weather app. One of the best features was the option to choose the weather data source. They recently removed that and the provider isn't good. It will show things like 0.04 inches of snow predicted when most others are showing a more accurate 2-5 inches of snow. Going by this app leads me to believe there won't be any snow and then I get a surprise in the morning. After several years of use I'll no longer be using this app.
The data from 'MyRadar' is not accurate, even in the US. It keeps telling me it's snowing outside when the sky is perfectly clear. Also, please work on shortening your weather descriptions, they're far too long now and not succinct. The privacy policy has been updated and seems to fix the issues most of us had but the app is still linking to your old version.
Was an amazing app until you wrecked it. It's been wildly inaccurate for a while now, can't change providers anymore and now all weather alerts and info are from cities and areas in a different country. I live in Canada no the USA. I paid for this app, actually I should say I paid for a different app that worked really well and you've changed it to the point that it's useless to me. I would like a refund.
I loved this app and used it for ages, right up until it stopped giving accurate information! I hope the developer gets their act together so I can switch back from using Weather Underground, the next best option I've been able to find. This app was exactly what I wanted when it came to interface and personalization options, and I hope the sudden drop in the quality of the info is rectified soon so I can switch back to using Weather Timeline, and raise this to a five-star review!
Used to be amazing. Ui looked great and you could choose your own data provider so you could choose one that had accurate weather. Now the option is removed and I no longer get accurate weather predictions. Therefore I have no use for it anymore. Such a shame the original developer sold out.
New weather data (wherever they are getting it from) is horrible. Current temperature has been 10-15 degrees off at times. My wife went for a walk with the baby thinking it was 55 out, when really it was 41. And refreshing doesn't make the temperature any more accurate. Forecast icons also say it'll rain every day, even when it's blue skies and 10% chance of rain. Real shame, because the UI of this app is head and shoulders above anything else. Edit: I appreciate that the developer seems to be really trying to improve things, and I know good weather API's aren't free. Unfortunately, that doesn't solve the current situation of the weather data being highly unreliable. Hopefully things improve with time.
