Great looking unit, easy install. Looking forward to some severe weather/lightning to see how it performs. Waiting for some rainfall to see how the rain gage works. The app is pretty basic would like to see some upgrades to it. Graphics, guages, and especially a windchill feature. All and all happy thus far. But if you're looking for more traditional information that other weather software provides Tempest is not quite there yet.
No dark mode. Lowered to 1 star: May 2022, still no widgets. Freezes phone when app is at foreground. Rounds of values, why? No altitude settings anywhere, which is a severely impacting factor for pressure, humidity, temperature, brightness, UV, rain, wind. Can't even set the height above sea level. It uses wrong values based on maps data. Doesn't see what pole it is on. No info on signal strength for hub or sensor-unit. Thought this was pro hw, it's consumercrap. Even netatmo does better.
Hardware is great. App is not. No radar & no widget means this is not a complete solution. I dropped $300 on the hardware & still need to kludge a complete solution together from multiple sources.
Overall a very clean and easy to use app. It would be even better if they'd add radar, a station map and widgets for Android.
Not bad , it will be perfect if you can ad the "widget " option ...looking forward to replace the other apps when will be possible to set this one on widget .all the best
Great app! I of course also look forward to the upcoming dark mode. I took one star because the ongoing notification vanished with the latest update on my tablet and phone Update: My notifications issue has been resolved. 5 stars 😎
Amazing app. I am not often impressed. It looks good visually. And its got a decent range if figures. The graphs look good. The UI is intuitive. Great stuff.
This is the weather station I have been looking for. Fast set up easy to understand directions. No moving parts to clean or check to make sure they are not clogged .I have had other weather stations in the past. This by far the best and I would recommend it to anyone.
Easy to install and works immediately. Easier than other weather stations that I have tried to use. Lots of information from this unit. It is everything that was advertised.
A solid app. I like the ability to see forecast data along with my live and historic data. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is I wish I could customize it, and/or it had a widget or two. As others have said, the priority of the app should be the live data. Since the Tempest does not have a display console, the next best thing would be for me to be able to configure a spare tablet as a console that looks like a console from basically any other weather station.
It appears the last update changed the historical data. Previously I could scroll back through the timeliness and see the data graphed fir any point in time back to when I first setup my WX station. Now I can only scroll back to the previous day, and anything further back is shown as a snapshot of that day. So you can't see what the temperature was at 7am 3 days ago, only a single temperature for that entire day. If there is some way to return the historical data back on I'm not seeing it.
Update. 8/10 The hub basically pretended to die and randomly started connecting on Bluetooth to a PC in the basement, the led on the hub burnt out, so no way to know what it was doing. New hub fixed it. From troubleshooting standpoint, the hub should not keep a Bluetooth connection active unless it's talking to the app, so a random device would not end up taking it down. An open Bluetooth connection is a security issue, means a neighbor can connect to it, and I wouldn't know.
No bugs, needs user customization. The app does a great job of retrieving and displaying information from the station. With no standalone home display, however, the app needs to have display customizations for small screens to large, hopefully approximating the rich look and feel of standalones from other station vendors. An added benefit of using an inexpensive tablet/app is being able to interact. I did vote on enhancements in the community forum btw. Hope to see these improvements soon.
Congratulations on making this app wonderfully pretty. Too bad you have done this at the expense of practicality! It's now less convenient to view my station data and history. Please provide an option that enables the old station data "cards" as the primary display. Perhaps the pretty forecast stuff is better displayed by tapping on the forecast card from the station display. I got a weather station in order to see my weather data. Don't build apps that interfere with this important objective.
The hardware is excellent! Strange issue with the android app however , I am able to get the continuous notification at the status bar on my phone but opening the app shows blank entries I'm all fields and states server not connected. However it is connected and I can see everything on the website. Additionally if I select on one of the sensor data buttons it does show the graph! Just not on the summary screen. This started happening today...
The initial setup with the hub has some issues with linking of the Wi-Fi. I got it to link but had to put the app in the background to make it confirm the connection. The layout of the app is setup well and organized. I would like to see a way to check trends and weather history of other users stations in the app.
Tempest weather station is fantastic. Tempest App, not so much. It is missing the most basic weather station features such as weekly/monthly/annual rainfall charts. Widget is missing and dashboard customization is poor. I want to see my weather station data when I open the app, not a generic inaccurate forecast. Hopefully future updates resolve these simple issues. EDIT: Removed one star, another issue found. All charts give different figures for the same day depending on zoom level.
It works like a charm! I was one of the early backers of the Weatherflow station. Recently, I upgraded to the solar panel solution. Sky and Air have been working flawlessly for a long time and the measurements are accurate too. The app is also getting better and better. I especially like the added historical data feature. Two things that I'm looking forward to are the indoor sensor and a camera to be added to the system would also be great. Thanks and keep up the great work! :-)
This app is truly the best at predicting the weather. I really like the charts to be able to see past values. Sometimes it hangs, usually when checking the solar radiation. The easy way to get out is to hit the settings button. I still gave it 5 stars because the predictions are way beyond anything l expected.
Initial impressions very good. Easy to set up Tempest Weather station. Works well and the integrated weather forecast works well. Experiencing some initial problems with the accuracy of rain measurements but I'm hoping to sort these through a combination of improving station mount to minimise wind effect and online reporting of actual train data. One of the best personal weather station systems I've used. Thank you.
I just really want a widget. App is good otherwise! Edit: Bumping up a ⭐ because the developer replied to my request saying that widgets are on the roadmap. Final ⭐ will be added when they're implemented. Thanks for the reply, guys!
Overall a nice app. The live weather option should allow for independent time scales, e.g. rain hourly but barometric pressure daily so you don't have to keep changing scales when looking at the different sensor data. Also, I keep getting "its raining" notices when its a clear blue sunny day. What's up with that?
Tempest wx stations are a superb new technology and render all traditional wx stations obsolete. Having said that the app is defective. Running on a late production run Pixel 3 with Android 10, the app dashboard is prone to constant freezes and must stopped and started to fix. Tempest stated is aware and seems responsive to user needs but has dragged their feet on a fix.. App is dated, needs a fresh look and widget.
Unit was easy to install and informative once operating. Tempest Weather being somewhat new, I look forward to seeing what new features they're going to be adding.
Love the platform. The solar powered station is amazing. The data is great. However, the rain gauge needs some calibration, it's typically 15-20% higher than my other gauges. And my biggest complaint, no widgets for Android. I really like having a 1x4 tile show me the current conditions on my home screen. Resolve those 2 issues please.
