WebLink for KENWOOD

Won't connect to my phone (S5 Active) to my DDX6905s. Once in a while it tries and makes this really slow distorted sound, but then disconnects. Thank God Android Auto itself works like a charm (required Google Services Beta) and I don't have to use this useless Kenwood software. Disappointed, but I don't need it. [Edit] I recently got an S9 and decided to give it another try. It actually works, but the display stretches ut of the viewable area so Waze controls aren't accessible and looks poor.

The only reason I downloaded was to use you tube on my dnx895s, and the video, while it does display, seems to buffer constantly. Totally makes the entire app useless to me. Speed this thing up people. Also, audio quality isn't nearly as clean as using the wireless Bluetooth... Which makes absolutely no sense to me. This needs a ton of improvement before I would recommend to anyone.

I'm not happy with this app. I installed the head unit about 2 months ago and for about 2 weeks I tried almost every day to get WebLink to function with no success. it regularly connects and disconnects. This makes the effort futile. I get excited when the unit is connected only to experience disappointment seconds later. I almost got Waze to function once but this was also a failure - disconnected. I will not purchase a Kenwood unit in the future if I'm looking for integrated functionality.

This might be the worst app I've ever downloaded. Completely and utterly useless. Sure it has a map but does it have navigation that shows you how to get there? Nope. Just tells you the directions in a list, literally no different than if it was the year 2000 and you printed off directions from MapQuest

App stays in notification tray permanently and won't leave. That's a big no no for something so useless when there is android auto to use. Watch YouTube or other video content if supported, while parked and not moving, seems the only reason anybody would want to use this. Not a lot of times when that would come up for me. If you wait in your parked car a lot with the radio on then this would be nice I guess.

Emailed the developers, no answer. Called Kenwood support, they said someone would call me in 2 days (the rep I talked to said "yeah, that's not my favorite app either, it doesn't work very well". Well, I paid for this specifically- and I'm pissed that the app is such garbage. It doesn't work at all. Just connects and disconnects. Twice I made it all the way to youtube - and they forgot to mention that they aren't allowed to play music videos or any copyrighted material. Seriously? I've been a Kenwood fan since I was little, but not anymore. Junk. Complete and total junk. Kenwood - I hate you!

Deleted my old critical review just to update with a worse one! Kenwood and their related software seems to all be hot garbage. Updated my DDX795 (2018) to all the newest software via the website and reinstalled WebLink to try to get everything working again. Nope. Still Disconnected when I try to use the native Spotify app. Only plays music via Bluetooth app. Waze or other GPS functionality ON the unit itself is gone and their GPS is trash. Getting rid of this thing as soon as I can. F Kenwood.

Crummy app. Was expecting wireless link, and another thing to note, phone screen has to be on continuously for Waze to run, resulting in phone over heating. Also, bottom of Waze app has been cropped out... Fix these issues, and I would give 5 stars just for that alone, which was the sole reason of buying this unit... Not to mention the other apps (lack thereof) don't work that well either.... C'mon Kenwood, you can do it...

Works well for me, just plug in and go. Feels slower then Android Auto, but Android Auto crashes every 5 minutes. Media Player doesn't work with streaming services and your only map option is Waze. It does show the weather though, and can view YouTube. Pretty useless, but it's functional.

I can only use this app once if I am lucky before having to restart my phone. Other times it says that nothing is connected or my device is not compatible (Samgsung S8). It completely disables the user of android auto until a restart also. I waited at least a year while hoping it would improve. Super disappointed add this has greatly effected the usability of my Kenmore deck. Wasted money.

Doesn't always connect to my s9 plus. Waze partnership is being discontinued so the navigation maps on screen will be gone at end of the month. YouTube only works for mobile videos but will show you all videos on YouTube to click on before being told it won't support it. I like how easy spotify is to use on this along with other apps. would give higher rating if they can give us another map app we can use on screen with our radios. I use a kenwood ddx775bh radio.

This app is such trash it could turn me away from being a fan of Kenwood (which I've been for over 8 years!). When I would run this app, it would basically block the Android app from running. I would have to power off the radio and my Pixel 2 and then MAYBE it would let Android Auto start. I can't for the life of me why Kenwood or whomever created this junky app wouldn't just have an app that mirrors your phone screen kinda like Chromecast.. Needless to say, I've deleted it and won't be reinstalling again.

Very problematic. Won't connect or wont stay connected when you finally get it to connect. If it would work as intended I would probably like it. I like the waze interface over the android connection for Waze better because the speed is displayed were with android connection the speed is not displayed. Fix it so everything works and I will try it again.

It's ok. I'd give it 2.5 stars. YouTube is worthless on here, because just about every video is unavailable. Waze works better on Androud Auto and the media player doesn't play video and isn't great but it does all work with my Pixel 3 XL. If they simply made YouTube fully functional or mirror the phone screen that would be a huge improvement.

This app needs alot of help... I don't understand how Kenwood sells $400-$500 radios which force you to use this app for 80% of the features but the app is trash. It is not compatible with Android, spotify and Pandora connection don't work. Spent the better part of an hour trying to get the damn thing to recognize my phone (note 9) attempted to update the radio itself but no use. Ended up changing my cable and just go with android auto integration or Bluetooth connection... What a waste...

I don't think I have seen a more useless app. As others have said, it rarely connects, the weather app is on Fahrenheit, Waze is dropped on the screen so you can't see information at the bottom such as distance to go etc. I expected more from a company like Kenwood. I would seriously look at another stereo maker for you vehicle to stay away from this.

Got it to work after several tries connecting. Not sure what the issue was. App choice is very limited and redundant to what is offered on Android Auto. Most Youtube videos would not play. WAZE dropped support for weblink so later versions do not work. Overall, if your headunit supports Android Auto or CarPlay there is not a compelling reason to use weblink. If your unit only supports weblink apps, you will be very disappointed. Weblink is not a suitable replacement for Android Auto.

used with my dmx 7705s A nice concept but... this is by far the worst attempt at an application I have ever seen. That's pretty bad considering I have worked on government projects before. Don't waste your time install android auto and ignore this. It is sad that the same cable that works with android auto isn't good enough for this app. Yeah the OEM samsung cable which was never used until i installed my radio. problems 1) it only connects when it wants to 2) cant get it to play pandora and use waze together 3) waze is shifted down about 1/4 inch so i cannot see the bottom of the screen. 4) waze crashes after the 3rd time directions are spoken. 5) app crashes whenever it wants why do i have to pick a star i wish i could take one away from someone elses review

Junk app. I'm only using it coz I've invested in a Kenwood head unit. Lots of bugs, unstable and poor UX. Some days you are able to connect, done days can't, sometimes it hangs other times it just eats your time troubleshooting it (that means taking your eyes off the road and staring at the hopeless app.

Horrible, most times it won't load apps, just says error loading apps or else it freezes up if it does on the odd occasion, work.. Plus it turns waves Maps off in the settings constantly so you need to go into settings before using and make sure it hasnt turned if off. The other Map won't actually direct you anywhere, will just show where you're travelling at the time

disappointing at best. app is severely limited in capability. pandora does not play audio when running Waze navigation or any other app. program has conflict issues with android auto and the 2 apps constantly compete to opperate. freezes and disconnects and is pretty close to usless. was excited to get my ddx6705s reciever for my travel vehicle but when the apps don't work smoothly for what I bought the unit for it extremely fusterating

I wasted a lot of money buying an expensive Kenwood car stereo so I could use Waze on it. It's virtually worthless it crashes all the time and doesn't fill the screen like it's supposed to it constantly reverts to a thumbnail size. Kenwood doesn't seem to care about fixing it.

I have choose US version of Kenwood head unit over the competitors for their Weblink however after testing the service I found it is useless at the time being with Only a small number of apps is supported, - YouTube won't let you able to access your account to see liked videos or playlists also must of the videos aren't working, it is keep showing "content unavailable" even though you can view the same in your mobile - Waze, the one running on Android Auto is better than WebLink version, at least it will show in full screen and you don't have to keep the app showing in your mobile Others Apps are in no use for me,

Very bad experience... Less Apps to use. Actually the MAP is not a NAVI. In addition to not being able to use Waze , furthermore can't support a third party GPS device though I found a port for GPS behind the player. If Kenwood disable all the third party GPS device & WAZE App, please make sure upgrade your Apps as soon as possible for GPS users!

Poor quality app. Waze is cut off at the bottom. constantly says it's disconnected and has the phone on all the time. very few advantages to this set up. seems to be thrown together just to advertise something that does not yet exist. in sorry I ever chose kenwood.

The Bluetooth link is very unreliable. Most of the time I have to turn the Bluetooth on and off when I first get into the car if I want Pandora to work. And they dropped the Waze app which is quite stupid. All in all a very bug ridden and amateurish software app.
