One of the best fitness apps I have ever used. Easily the best app available for anyone doing 531. The developer has clearly read Jim's books and knows the program and its many variations thoroughly. Many of the more common variations and templates are readily available and easy to customize. More importantly, there is tremendous flexibility outside of the pre-built templates allowing you to structure pretty much any 531 variation you want.
Definitely enjoying the app! I tried calculating the program myself before getting it, but following along with the apps (and using their recommended accessory exercises) makes everything so much easier to follow! I greatly recommend it to anyone who wants to follow the program. It's a bit pricey, but definitely worth it to me.
This is a great simple app for 5/3/1 training. My only wish would to be able to add some personalized auxiliary exercises.
Pretty user friendly. Adding the ability to modify the programs a bit more I depth would be a big plus. Having said that. This app is put together quite well. It allows me to chase my 1 rep over and over
Nice but with some hickups. Dips - there's no bar weight in dips ! Same for pull up. It would be great to have drop set workout. Regretting purchase
Fantastic application. It's fairly straightforward while still offering great customizability. Can't really think of any needed improvements.
Good value for an app. Some weird glitches like sets loading out of order, inputs not processing, etc. Otherwise great templates included and good flexibility. Best bang for your buck 531 app
Great app. Easy to use. For some reason the cycle count isn't resetting though and I can't figure out how to fix it without deleting all the data.
I've been using this app on and off for a few years. Been around the houses and always come back to this. It's most probably the best strength training app that incorporates Jim's programing. Could you please replicate this style but base it on Sheiko 😀
Had some issues with the app below but the developer contacted amd helped me resolve the issue. its an awesome app with lots of customisations. the only problem being that its not as user friendly as it could be. backing up and restoring is not explained. Important settings are buried inside and it takes a while to figure out the app. but once its done, its smooth sailing. the author is very responsive as well. So that is a major plus point .
Very user friendly. Something I really appreciate is that you're not forced to do one exercise at a time, you can superset/go in any order and just mark when each set is complete, and it's easy to customize workouts, and new exercises that aren't already included as options, etc. So this app could be useful even if you're not using the 5-3-1 program. Also love the graphs it produces to show your progress.
Really made it easy to follow 5/3/1, even with tweaks or adjustments. Lots of customization that doesn't ruin everything. At first I didn't see how to add a custom exercise (farmer's carry), but figured out you just push the plus button and it gives you options to make your own. So happy to have an easy system to follow with graphs/charts and no frills.
I really like the app so far. It's not as intuitive as I'd like but with some time you learn how to use it, at least for my purposes. My only question for the developers or users is what does the theoretical 1RM "at the end of the program" mean? Specifically... What IS the "end of the program?" 12 months? 1 month? You see this when you click on the cross hair or 1RM weight numbers on either side of the cross hair on the home screen. Otherwise great app and love the PR rep calculations each week
Hands down, this is the best app purchase I've ever made. As a 35 year old who starts working out again every year or two, only to lose interest in a few months, I believe I've finally found the missing key I need to keep me motivated and following my strength goals through to the end. I've not missed a week yet, and constantly cracking new personal records. Thanks a million to the developer putting this program into such an easy to use app to keep me coming back!
(This is an update of my previous 3-star review.) I love this app (used it more than 2 years) because you can adapt it to your workout plan within the 5-3-1 framework. After starting over with the Free version on a new phone, I had trouble later transferring my settings and record to this version. I reached out to the developer by email and they gave me the simple steps, using Back Up & Restore from Settings in the app. They also answered a previous question quickly.
I've been using this app for about 3 years now. It's absolutely excellent and I reccomend it to anyone interested in following 531! Thank you for making something so brilliantly designed.
Makes a foreign concept easy. Great way to start lifting as a beginner. Ramps up gradually.
Is there no way to start from cycle 1, after a few weeks in? I don't want to reset all data and start from the beginning.
Fantastic app. Makes my workout that much more efficient. It will literally tell you what to put on the bar. Easy strength!
good user interface, love the simplicity. though it might be a little too simple...I'd like to have more flexibility in skipping workouts or only doing partial cycles. it seems like now you have to cycle through the entire cycle to get back to day one.
I love the app but it frequently closes, deletes the saved data and skips to the next week for that workout. It's incredibly frustrating setting my phone down, doing a set, unlocking my phone to find all my saved reps and sets for the whole workout gone and I have to re enter it multiple times in one session. I thought that was a problem with the free version but the issue persists with pro. Really frustrating.
Probably one of the best fitness apps I've used. I do have a small request! Please consider giving a custom rep scheme option in the Advanced Settings. That would make this app perfect in every way. Previously I had to use Google sheets for my programming, and record my progress elsewhere.. this app consolidated everything down to 1. Keep up the good work!
There's a lot of features in there, but sometimes it's not very intuitive. I've been using this app for over a year now, and it's been great.
Liked it at first but have run into several issues. For instance when I select the 3-day template it includes BBB sets even though I specifically indicated I didn't want them included in the settings. Further it won't allow you to add assistance exercises to the template nor does it remember these exercises if you add them to a workout.
Good, comprehensive app with tons of customisation options. The only thing I I really need is the ability to add custom templates. At the moment I can only customise the default ones, which doesn't give enough flexibility
