I experience occasional loss of connection from the same location with strong coverage that may last a week or more. Then the problem resolves.
The content is great! I love being able to listen to WESA whenever, wherever, especially since I'm now located in MN. I would donate to WESA, however, this app's shortcomings are ridiculous. 1.) It starts and stops, seemingly at will. I'm listening and all of a sudden, it stops playing. Then a few minutes later, it restarts. What gives? 2.) It doesn't respect Android volume focus. When another app -- for example Google Maps -- starts output, WESA should reduce volume (like every other app). Instead, WESA continues at full volume leaving me to separate the directions from Maps against the output of WESA. This is not only improper behaviour, it is annoying. 3.) Every few minutes, I get the "Streaming is made possible by donations from people like you" interrupting the broadcast. Once every 15 minutes would be acceptable, but sometimes it sounds off three times in a row. Ridiculous. 4.) Every few minutes, a few seconds of dialogue repeats as though "looped". Like I said: I'd donate, but the quality of the app leaves something to be desired. The *content* of the app can't be beat.
I am glad to have the app, but it does not respond to the play button on my android main screen, I have to open the app each time to pause etc. The past few days, it has been replaying about 15-20 seconds of the same show. Not sure why this is happening, like rewind was hit. Using same internet, same location. Very frustrating, happens multiple time/day.
I like the 90.5 WESA app! It's now one of my favorite stations in Pittsburgh. I sometimes listen to it out of boredom, but I like to listen to it if I want to be informed. I like the hourly NPR newscasts...and I'll use the app to listen to "BBC World Service" while I'm sleeping in the early morning hours. This app is fantastic!
Primitive to the point it's unusable. This app is so slow you have to wait several seconds for each keystroke. (Galaxy S9) Too slow for double taps to even work. Not a bad concept, but too slow to be useful.
Great app and one of the only sources of local, accurate, and unsensationalized news. Unfortunately, the app times out occasionally but this has gotten much better with recent updates. Now, if they only included a dark mode that would be awesome!
I would normally give this app at 5, but for the past couple of weeks it continuously stops, and then completely disappears and I have to reload. Maybe too many people are listening these days haha UPDATE 12/7/2020 I just uninstalled and reinstalled again, wish it would continuously play without having to do an uninstall
I only use the app to listen in the kitchen, because I don't have a working regular radio, and wouldn't use it if I had one. It works about 75-80% of the time. A lot of dropouts, where it will stop for 10-15 seconds, then start back up on its own.
I love getting my NPR news from WESA....but most mornings when I turn it on- it drops coverage for the first ten minutes or so...and then finally comes on 100%. I have no idea why it does this... but that's why I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars.
Often loses the stream. It may be silent for 5 minutes, then all of a sudden starts playing.
It won't continuously stream after the screen goes dark. Can't find a setting in the app or my phone to fix it.
App frequently crashes. Slow interface and loading. Really stuggles with changing between wifi and cell service.
Worst app on my phone. Extremely slow to lead and very buggy. Love WESA and am a sustaining member of the station, but this app is a poor representation of WESA.
Works well most of the time. There were a few times that the playback was a little sketchy but overall it is a good app.
Allows me to listen to NPR while my wife watches GMA on the TV.
have to stop app multiple times on order to turn down volume, loading is VERY slow.
App just doesn't work on my device . As soon as I open it, it freezes and crashes.
Takes too long to load all stories at startup. Top line scrolls when I don't want it to.
I love listening to the radio while working and this app allows that to happen!!!
Crashes/stops constantly practically unusable at times
The app stops working due to network error at least 50% of the time.
Easy to use. Plug and play to stay tuned in to my favorite local news source.
too busy a site, which takes too long to load, and to open streaming.
I love this station because it has the current news and has in depth discussions about current events.
Love the station but app shuts down frequently. Very frustrating.
Great station, wish the streaming would continue when I read on other apps.
This a simple, easy to use app that makes it possible for me to listen to WESA wherever I am.
Love it, especially all the news stories that are available at the same time!
Would like to get some pop up notifications I currently don't see any. Other than that good app.
Great journalism. Irritatingly buggy app when trying to listen to the station, to the point of being unusable. I still keep it installed for the articles and updates though- thank you WESA team for your hard work.
