West Texas Mesonet
- Quickly find and add your favorite stations to your list by typing in the station or nearby city name
- View current meteorological conditions of your saved stations in list view
- Tapping on a station displays detailed meteorological data and also gives access to the Mesonet plots and the NWS forecast page for that location (swipe left/right to change these pages)
- Dual pane view for Nexus 7 and larger tablets when the device is in landscape orientation
Note that this app does not include a background timer to check periodically for new data. Station source data is updated and made available every 5-8 minutes. When the user navigates from a detail data view back to the list view, or changes the device orientation, the app will only download the latest set of data if 8 minutes or more has passed since the last data download. The user can always force a data download by pressing the refresh button.

App is great except for the following 2 problems. First, it no longer pins the temperature to the status bar. I've tried multiple times, and it never works. Second, upon selecting a station, the NWS forecast pops up in a new window rather than on it's proper tab (forecast tab is blank). That means, you always have to close the forecast to see the 24 hour charts, but then have to start over to go back to the forecast. Other than these 2 issues, it's very helpful and provides useful insitu data.
When attempting to use functions within the app, the app crashes every time. I've sent countless feedback reports and nothing changes. Has been like this years. Think twice before downloading. Fix the app and I'll update the review.
Something on one of the last updates messed up the functionality on Android devices. Now when a station is clicked on the web browser opens and takes you to the NWD forecast page instead of the data pages in the app. Before this bug the app was perfect.
The creators have abandoned it, and all the features are slowly breaking. It is a shame that TTU won't invest in their own research.
Has stopped working! Used this app all the time, but will not open anymore on Android (Pixel running OS 10), still works on my iPad. Have tried uninstalling and then reinstall, nothing works! Please fix.
maps no longer work. Can't find app in play store anymore. Was the best weather app out there.
Simple and easy to use, just wish they had more mesonet stations further out in New Mexico.
Want work on Android phones any longer. Something in the last update messed it up!! Want open at all now on my phone!!!
This is a fantastic app! One criticism that I have with the app is that I can't zoom in to look at the charts.

Could be more user friendly. The Oklahoma Mesonet app has really spoiled me!

Love the app, but it crashes hard 100% of the time on my new Samsung A50.
If you need information from the TTU Mesonet on your phone, this is for you. I know many firefighters that use the app for the latest weather observations. Customize the list of stations you want to see quickly and use the map to view the individual stations that the website lists. And the map scales well so that I can actually see the information.
Awesome use every day. Real time data that normally updates at least every 10 minutes
Can't beat it for local coverage of what the weather is. I use it every day.
I've been a Mesonet maniac for the last few years and have, both as a journalist and personally, found its information not only accurate but also handy. Kudos to those brainiacs at my alma mater for their vision on this worthwhile project.
I just wish it had the option like the website for the current observations of all the stations in a list.

Great free app that puts all weather related info in a customisable (choose and tag your favorite stations) format. I live in far southwestern Ollahoma and follow its weather on Oklahoma's Mesonet app (*****) but it is very important to know what weather is happening across the stateline and moving my way ... Keep it up. You are doing a great job! Using: SCH-S968C, 4.1.2 and Moto G, 4.4.4
Yet another weather app that completely ignores the South West section of Texas
Congratulations on the clean look, intuitive and simple to use interface, and its quick response. Elegant. I access the TT WTX Mesonet daily and this will make that much easier.
Very nice for us Western Okies to get info west & SW of us in TX. More maps would be nice.
This app has come into prime age. Great info and easy to work.
Two problems: 1. The app crashes constantly on most devices, the android version desperately needs an update to continue being functional. 2. Clicking on an individual station should not automatically open a link to the NWS forecast, this makes using the app take nearly twice as long as it should because you have to wait for the site to load and then back out every time you want to see the 24 hour charts.
