What did you change on Notifications! I have them all individually turned off, yet I still get them. I turn off "Topic Notifications" but it won't stay off. Each time you check Notifications, it is back on. Ready to delete the app.

App has not actually been updated since before Tribune Broadcasting sold off WGN in 2017. Developer has not updated the description or made the app conform to Googles 2 year old standards. This is a a TV streaming app that locks it's display to portrait instead of allowing full screen landscape. It should not be in the in the Play Store. But when it's a station that features hours of not worthy for broadcast pseudo-news (Nein News at Nine) perhaps it's appropriate.

I don't understand why I'm always pushed to open a browser window to view the live stream. That should be available in the app. And then when I open the browser and wait through the pop-up ad, and then the mandatory 1-2 other ads, there is no Chromecast icon, so I'm struck trying to watch it in a browser. What's the point of having a 'watch live' option in the app? Not at all an ideal streaming experience.

One of the only apps I know of that you do not have to have a cable subscription for. Every other tv company I have installed has requested that I have a cable subscription. Great app to get your news from local, national, sports and weather from. Great cast also! I have been watching wgn news since I was in grade school back in the nineties. Recently the app keeps crashing on my phone. Other than that keep up the good work!

I mainly care about live TV so I can catch the news or other shows when I want to. The good news is that it does have live TV and it does work. However, the full screen on the live stream so at best only half of my phone screen has an image the rest is all white. Further more, the app itself is quite slow and lags all the time. At least I can gen live WGN when I have no other option. It seems the live TV is completely different from the real live TV I get at home. So unfortunately this is nearly useless for me. The programming is the same as live TV online. But if I don't know when and what is showing it is really of no use to me.

I really like being able to read news stories on the go, but half the time it is impossible to do so due to all the ads and pop ups you have! Just as I am starting to load and read the story, my screen goes white from all the ads and the story goes away and never comes back! I will back out and try to re read the story, and it does the same thing. I know ads pay the bills, but when you can read a story, and heck ALL the ads go away due to overload, what's the point?

The stream never loads or starts as it should. Continually prompted to click on a link to view the live stream via the WGN website, making the app unnecesarry, and just taking up space on my phone. Also, I continually receive a "notification" error message when launching the app. I just learned through experimenting that ALL notifications need to be set to "on" to stop the message from appearing when the app is launched. Literally can take 2 to 3 minutes to open. Live never works. Killing the app doesn't work. My phone will be better when uninstalled.

Will play ad but freezes and won't play live or other videos. Hopefully they fix it because it used to work amazingly.

Live video and video will not play. Freezes up. Have installed and uninstalled several times to no avail.

This app has consistently failed for watching wgn news live nor its news replays when not live. The only reliable method is watching their live web stream directly from their site.

The so called "live" option is not actually what is being shown on channel 9 in chicago. Right now wgn has a preacher on my tv, but the app is showing a supposedly live stream of news and sports

The recently updated version now has a street and boundary overlay which is distracting and annoying. Rather than have ability to use a map or satellite view, there is only the satellite view. Please bring back the previous version.

The app is working ok but there is way to much repetition, as you scroll the same stories are listed several times, and also older stories stay posted too long. Like to keep up to date with news not just keep seeing the same thing over and over.

Since the new update, I cannot view in landscape mode and no option in setting on the app to change this. Yes, my tablet settings are correct and all other apps let me rotate to my preferences. Also, the option to not sell my information just sits on a blank page, ads show up but nothing else to choose to not have my info sold.

2 issues: 1. Live feeds never work in the app, so always need to go to external link. 2. Lots of notifications. It would be better if we could differentiate notifications between local and national news. I use other sources for national news and only want local notifications from WGN.

I'll wait to give it more stars just downloaded it now! Not sure why cuz I don't watch on my device always watch on TV I'm probably going to uninstall since I've opened the app and I cannot correct the push notifications for the live news which is 1 hour later! I'm in Illinois and it's central standard time!

It keeps timing out with my screen timeout which is 10 min and can't be adjusted for longer than that on my phone. When it ran in chrome it worked better. The new app is much worse! How can we get the old app back??

Works great! The breaking news alerts are very helpful and convenient. The app itself is great for getting the news anytime of day or night. I never have any issues.

Streaming the live channel is atrocious! Sadly, the streaming app forces you into automatic mode, and buffers almost immediately. Without this fixed, the app is useless...

I really like the app but I don't understand why everytime I open it I have to dismiss a message telling me to check my notifications. Also, the amount of ads and banners in the news stories is kind of ridiculous.

Darn, Was hoping I could watch the daily 9@9 segment on my phone but the app does not have the segment.

Needs to be better optimized, very glitchy, slow and keeps not letting me read more than a few sentences before it errors out and throws me out of the story..... About to uninstall 🤦‍♂️

Can WGN Chicago just make an app for PlayStation already??? The morning news is the ONLY news I enjoy. However, its only on xfinity, this app and online. The live news doesn't work in the app at all. I have to open it online AND choose desktop mode in the menu bar. I would give it a 1 star but come on you don't rate that low for anything involving Robin, Larry, Pat and Paul.

This really needs Android TV support before I could give it anything higher than one star. I can't understand why it's available for every other platform BUT the one designed for TV.

My live news keeps timing out and I have to keep tapping it every 30 seconds, I was able to adjust screen time out, but wondering why it won't play continuously (using my tablet)
