WGN Weather

Correction: This WAS one of the best weather apps until recently. Ever since this last update, the app only opens once in a while. They need to fix this or else switch it back to the way it was. This is one of the best weathet apps out there! I only wish it showed the barometric pressure.

I have found wgn weather to be the most accurate weather in my area BUT I agree with the other recent reviews - after the most recent update the app is slow if it even opens at all. Frequently it gets stuck on the loading screen then will give the error "do you want to wait for the app or close it?". Part of the original appeal of the app for me was the alerts, but if it can't even load properly will it alert me in time? Might start looking for a new app...

MyRadar went to a subscription-based service, and I no longer an ad-free version of the app. WGN Weather works for me, as I no longer travel very far for work. However, I wish it showed barometric pressure. I'm sitting here with a headache as I watch our old-school dial barometer drop with an approaching squall line, and the WGN Weather app doesn't provide me with a pressure reading.

Use this app for nearly 10 years, love it.... Until the last update when the app only opens every once in awhile without crashing. I don't understand how a developer releases a new version of an app and doesn't ensure it works?! Fix it PLEASE.

Please FIX this app!! It was GREAT before the last update. NOW it doesn't open more than it does, freezes my screen rather than opening, and had become an unreliable weather source rather than my "go to". I'm just about to uninstall.

This app is good but not entirely accurate by my area in Wickliffe Kentucky. Several times we've had extreme weather and there was no warning, we had no warning when the Mayfield tornado hit and Mayfield is atleast 30 minutes from where I live. Sometimes nothing pops up on the radar but yet we would have severe weather hitting the area with no warning still. The radar is not accurate or consistent, if me and my family get hit by a tornado with no warning then I will have to uninstall asap.

App constantly freezes on loading screen. Have to force stop and restart just to get it to work. Shame, as it used to be the best weather app.

Beginning two updates ago, the only thing loading is the advertisement. It also draws more battery.Edit: Once again, the start screen with an even more in your face ad, does not load or hangs.

Keeps freezing and crashing since the last update. Takes forever to get the radar to load, too. Really wish they would fix this.

This was my go to weather app. Very disappointed when it may or may not open on either phone I have. I am not sure what happened with the app but you need to fix it.

Used to love this app until the ad moved to the front page. Now it won't open half the time . Really disappointed. Before this change, would have gi en it 5 stars easily.

Lately this app has been crashing a lot. It almost never crashed before.

FIX THE APP! RIDICULOUS! IVE USED THIS APP FOREVER AND THE LAST FEW MONTHS IT DOENST WORK! IT OPENS AND UPON OPENING IT FREEZES. NONE OF THE BUTTONS WORK! AND GET RID OF THE STUPID ROOFER AD! WHY DO WE NEED AN AD ALL OF A SUDDEN? NEVER NEEDED IT BEFORE! WGN .... YOU CANT GET A SIMPLE APP TO WORK CORRECT? COME ON!

I used to love this app. Been using it for years! But for awhile now it's become quite annoying.. it's sooooo slow anymore. It even freezes and shuts down. I usually have to try a second time to get it to open. Too much for the system now with all the ads?!? Not sure. Came here looking for an update... No luck.

Doesn't always open. Always takes a long time to open when it does open. Not as nice as before.

I actually really like the update. Being able to customize the side menu in the radar by dragging and dropping the weather elements I view often is nice and there are a lot of options. The radar also now updates every few minutes which makes a big difference when viewing the precipitation radar. One thing that does need to be addressed is the pinch to zoom when viewing the radar. It's sort of broken.

Idk what has happened with this app. It has been my go-to weather app for years and in the past month or so, the widget hasn't been working right at all. First it wouldn't show me any data at all. I uninstalled/reinstalled and then it was stuck on the same temp and forecast for hours. It didn't update until I removed the widget and put it back. I love this app but if it keeps being unreliable, I'll have to move on :(.

I can no longer see what the high temp was for the day. It would appear to me that once it hits the high, the app only shows two dashes (- -) then the expected low temp. As a weather junkie, this is a major turn off. Everything else is great. Update 1.25.21 The predictions have been WAY too off. I'm uninstalling. They used to be the best IMO.

This used to be my go-to weather app. It no longer is. Since an update a few months ago, the "follow me" feature no longer works. If you choose "follow me" it shows a loading screen, then just defaults to whatever city it chooses. In addition, you are no longer able to use any function of the app until you click back and forth, prompting a full screen ad to pop up. Once you click exit on the ad, you can use the app. Why can't you just use banner ads at the bottom like everybody else?

Update... 10-21-21. STILL NO VIDEO. 10-4-21 STILL NO VIDEO. Fix your app! I have been using this app for YEARS with no issues. Then, since the last update or two on my Galaxy S20, the video feature no longer works. The app doesn't have any way to contact support. I love the ability to watch the forecast if I can't watch the broadcast. Please fix this.

This was a great app but for all of December, it only shows radar. No current, daily, or hourly forecasts at all - nothing but 0s for temps and blank screen when you click on daily forecasts. I uninstalled and reinstalled it multiple times with no improvement so finally deleted it completely. It's a shame it's not being fixed, I had it for months and it worked great plus I have followed Tom Skilling for years but this app no longer works at all.

August 2021, I decided to try this app again and reinstalled it. Had to delete it after 4 days because it won't follow me and won't load daily weather page. Deleted again July 2020, I don't know what happened to this app, but the radar has completely failed. Over the past 3 days and multiple storms and downpours on me the radar shows not a cloud in the area. Just clear skies and clouds in the distance. I had to delete the app as it is useless at this point. Not sure what they did to mess it up.

Use to be my favorite weather app for my area. :( it started loading very slowly a month or so ago, now it doesn't load AT ALL. I uninstalled then reinstalled but didn't help. I thought it was my phone because I'm due for an upgrade. Thought it could be our service. However, I'm not having this issue with any other apps. Now that I see others having the same problem it makes me know it isn't either one. I wish the developers would fix this problem. So aggravated.

When a weather station/app whatever you wanna call it is wrong on predictions. I can understand it, very common..... But when it's wrong about what's happening at the moment you are looking at it.. for a half an hour straight... On multiple occasions. Do I need say more?
