You can no longer upload pictures in portrait, why??? Edit :developer has responded very quickly and fixed the issue. Fantastic support!
Easy to use for groups of people. Clean uncluttered interface. Works as a planner but also a record of what you've eaten. Very handy. The one feature I'd like to see is the ability to export all my menus to .cvs. This would help a lot for longer term planning and analysing which dishes are most popular in which season.
Exactly what I needed! Just a simple place to plan each meal, without having to choose from or add recipes. I love that I can create lists of favorite food items, then choose from those items as I'm doing the meal planning. And there is no food database to limit my options; I can just type in whatever I want. Very simple and intuitive interface. I only see room for one improvement: a field where I can put notes about each week. For example what ingredients do I need to use up, working late, etc.
Have tried menu planning apps and like this one best. Wanted something simple to use without a million bells and whistles, something that functions like pen and paper but digitally. It's very easy to use. It doesn't have recipe collections, for example, but I don't need recipe suggestions, 'cause I plan my meals based off of what I buy that is in season or on special and use various recipe sources. I like that the meals can easily be moved around, makes it easy to be flexible with planned meals.
Fantastic app!! Especially the groups! Only one slight inconvenience.... after you create a group, I cant find a way to delete the group. Adding recipes and having the option to add it to a shopping list, that the whole group can see is amazing!!! This is exactly what I need. The pictures are an added bonus!
Edit: I have figured it out with help from the developer. A fast, quick, and patient response. you can swap a meal into the following week. It just has to be done from the main three menu at the top of the week (select swap menu). Not the three dot Menu for the individual meal. Five stars from me now!!! Just what I've been looking for! I would love it if a meal could be moved into the next week. I'm a new user so maybe I don't know how?
I got this app because I usually spend a few hours each week creating a menu for all of our family meals, and then making my own grocery list from that menu. I upgraded to pro so that grocery list would be automatically generated, but it doesn't work. I created the recipe as the instructions stated, but still nothing. So, all I have, is a menu that is typed instead of hand written, with which I will still have to write out a grocery list.
You can just type what you are planning for each meal, no recipe links needed! I just wanted a place to organize my meal or meal thoughts in an organized place. This was the app for me. The others seemed to require you to link to choose a recipe. I just wanted to use what was already in my house. I also love the reminders to plan the meal. This helps me to not respond in an emergency and eat out or eat junk because I didn't think ahead or turn on the oven, etc.
Simple and very easy to use app! Especially like the functionality where you can create your own food items and add them to the menu. One suggestion - when creating a meal plan, there should be a drop down list of all saved food items so that it'll be easier to select and add them to meal plan
Simple yet elegant app that allows you to plan your meals for the week. There are options for picking which meals to display, shuffling, grocery lists. There are no ads in this app. I love the simplicity and easy entry. Great app overall, and definitely worth trying out.
Not bad, they answered my query extremely quickly. A major feature of the app for us is we have seven set weekly menus which we use once every seven weeks - you can do it with this app now upped to 5 stars. UPDATE: After a year of this app, it has moved from Not bad to Excellent. I use it in conjunction with OurGroceries and between the two I have everything I need. Most of my evening meals take between one hour and five hours to prepare and cook.
I've tried a lot of menu/meal planning apps and none were exactly what I wanted. But this one is awesome and perfect for what I needed!
I just downloaded What's On The Menu, and it is an absolute God-send! I've tried several meal planning apps in the past, but this is very well organized, and easy to use. I especially like the dark theme, and the fact that it does NOT have all kinds of recipes that I would never use. It's simply a way for me to organize how I cook, what I cook! Thank you so much to the developer. This app is a blessing!!♥️
Awesome!Simple, just to make a list of what I will be cooking for the week;I don't need a database of recipes...I can use my own or add them here. I am so happy to have fully customisable meal lables(I can have multiple snack meals, organize them my way,or name one Brunch...I can have 12+ meals planned for a day probably, and can have multiple meal items for each meal; great widgets! It would be great to have other background/color schemes available to chose for the app and the widgets :-) Thanks!
I have always loved this app. Simple yet complete. But since the latest update, the app often lags and crashes. Instead of making you productive and organized, it wastes your time. Hope the developer could fix this issue the soonest so I could give it the 5-star it deserves.
This has all the features we've been looking for in so many other poorly designed menu planning apps. The group menu planning is genius! Also, great functionality with the templates and incredibly specific copy functions. Also, NO annoying ads. Kudos, and buon appetito!
The free version doesn't offer much. It's nice if you just want to list what meals you ate or plan to eat, but this app is extremely basic unless you're willing to pay for the other features (like actually creating recipes to make the meals you're planning).
Awesome app! I was looking for something simple like this with just the weekly meal plan laid out. Too many apps have way too many features (grocery lists, recipes, etc) and ads that confuse the experience.
There are some great features in the app. I really like that you can turn the menu into a PDF to print or save in Evernote. Would be helpful if you could sort your grocery list to save time in the different sections at the grocery store.
Good app. I use it every day and the widgets are awesome. I'd like to see (as others have suggested) a monthly meal planner view and the ability to add a picture to the meal planner, not just to recipes (I already have a recipe app). Then I'll rate it 4 stars.
No stars was my choice but I couldn't go forward without a rating. I don't remember downloading this app, and it just shows up to ask and suggest "What's on the Menu" for each meal (3 meals - which I hardly ever do). I turned off notifications twice, apparently did not take. Bad, bad app!
The app is just want I need. Simple straightforward and easy to use. I really just wanted an app where I can feed my meals of the day in. The reminder is actually kinda cool... Because it tells me what I have coming up... And it really makes you think about what you eat every day.
Very simple, very helpful. I really appreciate that there are no adds. I've shared this app with at least 10 people! Some of the auto fills annoy me so I only gave it 4 stars. I'll likely use this app for the rest of my life, unless it gets filled with ads. :)
Works great....mostly. Sometimes I have difficulty changing a menu item once saved. Also, I wish there was a way to add a photo to a menu item.
Description lists lots of options but never states which are free and which are premium. I wanted to add ingredients for a meal. I'd understand it's a premium feature if properly stated IN description, but i hate to discover this while using the app.
Edit 18.01.2021: one year later and I still find What's on the menu the best meal planning app! There are a few minor things which don't work perfectly, but for me it's still 5 stars. Hi, I was looking for some time to find a perfect menu planner and there it is! I've been using it for a week or so, just bought Premium, so I can attach photos of the recipes and... I doesn't really make sense to me that from the position of day's menu I can't see photos, steps etc - I have to first look what's on the menu, then go to Personal Food Items, then find what kind of meal it is, then find the item... But overall, app does what it should!
