WHYY - Greater Philly’s NPR

It looks like someone's just bought a cheap off-the-shelf wrapper for the web site, which actually offers a better experience than the app. The "share" button in the app doesn't utilize Android's system-registered apps for such and instead is a small static list of generic apps that were hard-coded by the app. Send to a read-later app like Pocket? Nope. You can post to Facebook or Twitter, email, or text with the default SMS app, or open in a browser for anything else. Just start w/ the browser

It's recently been crashing every 5 minutes. I need to open the app and click the play button again just to get it working again. Hopefully re-installing will help. If not I guess I'll just use the website player.

Works great in car using Bluetooth. We live on edge of FM broadcast range so on the radio WHYY is choppy. We have reliable internet cell towers so very nice. Excellent app for travelers!

Reliable. But too many notifications. i have mine set to news alerts only yet i keep getting alerts about programming. Telling me who the guest is on Wait Wait... is not news. it's shameless promotion.

Since the update, streaming quits frequently. Too frustrating, bad programming. XPN app works great.

Had trouble with the app buffering all the time and interfearing with the program. The WPSU app performs better.

i love WHYY but seriously why is the program being interrupted mid-sentence to hear the ads when my session migrates from cell tower to wifi connection.... so annoying this is a thing. Also how about special perks for sustaining members like me?

This app is broken. It closes almost immediately after it opens. (Motorolla G Stylus 2020) It's pretty dissapointing as I am a paying member of WHYY.

Good, easy to use. I hope whatever new version they're bringing doesn't screw it up.

Information, educational informative. Only thing missed,was the School bus drivers during the pandemic. Drove for special needs kids.cleaning van at own cost. Loved the kids But no concern for us.or the castoein who cleans. Or have guidelines on what's needed. Now this is our life STYLE there needs to be an SOP for a lot of operations. Were on the front lines too.

Good: WHYY, NPR, and public radio news and programming is great. Bad: App plays advertising every time the internet connection resets, such as when I'm moving from room to room. Also bad: When not listening, a bug makes the app's notification reappear any time any other app on the phone plays audio.
