I love these thermostats. They work great with homeassistant! I use them in both my home and church. The benefit of these thermostats vs most other smart thermostats is that you can control them completely from your local network(no internet required). The have a simple HTTP interface with libraries available in various programming languages. The app works well also if you want to connect your thermostat to the internet. My only two knocks are: 1. The initial setup of the thermostat on Wi-Fi is difficult 2. The LCD interface is pretty dated and not very responsive I took a star off for those 2 issues. Overall I still like these for the geek factor.
Formerly 4-5 stars, to be fair everything is working pretty much as it's supposed to since 2012... At least until I had to replace my wifi router. Good lord, trying to get it to connect to the new wi-fi was ridiculous. Finally ended up managing to dig up an old 2nd gen Ipod touch I had buried in a drawer that was able to get it to work. If I didn't have that I'd have likely been out of luck.
Started acting squirrelly after a few months and I attempted to contact support about it twice and no response. Display shows temperature but it shows random streaks through the digits as if partially erased. That's weird. App completely crashes occasionally and asks for permission to restart. I really should have bought Nest.
Only app on my Galaxy S7 which gets stuck in a loop repeatedly crashing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, including a complete factory reset of the phone, so it appears to be a programming bug. Have resorted to using web interface instead. Please fix this app!
You need ios to set up. The thermostat itself is not user friendly. If anyone knows a user friends, easy interface, makes some damned sense type of thermostat, let me know. This one is not easy to use, easy to set up, or even easy to read. Gl
Always crashes twice at startup ( on Samsung Galaxy ) Once I've restarted it twice it seems to work OK . The user interface is quite straight forward - provides good functionality and useful heating/cooling history.
App had previously worked without a hitch for several years now. Yesterday, it began not connecting and giving me the error message to "Please check your internet connection and try again." Confirmed that the thermostat is connected and can access via the website, but via the app.
Good app, just cant get thermostat connected in the first place. Believe you need a windows 7 or xp PC to setup wifi initially for some reason. So I just scrapped it out and got a nest. This app is better than nest if I could get it connected I could actually use it.
Lost all wifi setting due to a 15 min power outage. After redoing wifi setup, thermostat became slow and sometimes not at all in response to the app. Refreshing takes more than 12 seconds. This is for a ct50 accessing by local LAN.
I'd give it 5 if they'd fix the issue I've been having when I turn on the Thermostat from the app and place the settings to hold the current temperature I desired it keeps reverting back to running the schedule I don't know why it keeps doing this.
i only use this app to set the temperature at work but as soon as a different app comes along, im jumping on it quick because THIS APP SHUTS DOWN EVERY USE and DOESNT KEEP THE TEMPERATURE SET WHEN YOU PICK THE TEMPERATURE YOU WANT. so ...the app only works %10 of the time. this app needs serious help, technical team look into the bugs
Issies openning the application - shuts down on openimg, need several attempts before (finally!) the application opens and works as advertised. other significant issue - not possible ro set-up a new thermostat, unlike iphone version...
The app is ok, but the thermostat and the documentation is horrible. You cannot add the thermostat to a wireless network directly from the thermostat. It starts off in adhoc mode which nobody supports any more. Any windows newer then windowz 8, linux and android can not connect to adhoc networks. Thus you have no way to join the thermostat unless you find someone with an iphone. they don't tell you this. i have all linux and android devices and a useless thermostat.
Very satisfied with thermostat, app and programs work well. But there is always room for improvement like linking to Alexa. However enjoying the convenience of its functions, thank you.
The widget for the app is not working after phone restart, you need to delete and re add the widget after phone restart, it's doing this on 4 different Samsung phones in our household.
App Stopped Working! Says "Connection Error" "please check your internet connection" I tried it on my phone, my wife's and my kids with 4 different phones and the app is NOT working. Go to the web site it works but thee is no schedule setting like 8n the app!
Doesn't always communicate properly with thermostats. I often have to close the app then relaunch and move the temperature up to again to get the heat to come on.
You can't cancel your account after you remove this thermostat. This is a problem with the app or trying through a web browser. Their emails keep coming.
App is good when its working. Sometimes it doesn't communicate with the thermostat immediately. Most of the time it takes about 3 or 4 mins.
Had problems with the app for a while but it works now. Their tech support did respond to my inquiry and fixed the issue. Other than the recent issue the app works very well; easy to use
This company has been doing right for over 10 years what sign what some of the current smart gadget companies are still struggling with today.. While I hopefully will get a smartthings integration one day, this app works great
Great As long as my thermostat stays online it will go offline or the power goes out or something and the I'll have to get a Apple product like an Apple ipad or an Apple phone to get my thermostat to come back on line because I have android Everything's OK great product other than that problem I just told you about that happens probably once or twice a year
Worked for years, now crashes everytime I open the app, have to do everything twice to make it work. Piece of garbage!
My problem isn't necessarily with the app, it's with the thermostat. It's worked fine for many years but recently started having Radius problems with one of our phones. I thought reconfiguring the thermostat might fix the problem. I should have read these reviews 1st and will do so in the future for Wi-Fi products. I am unable to reconnect my thermostat to the LAN and I suspect it's because of a bug with the last update of the app or a recent update to the phone. At any rate, I'm unable to add the thermostat to my account. I did get one email back from support but the lack of a phone number is something to seriously consider before buying any any products. I hope to not have to move to another product just to stay warm and comfortable in my house, simple thing right? But if I replace this thermostat, it seems it'll need to be with a competitive product.
