Wi-Fi Utility

Be aware that when you update this app your setting may change. I had it set to NOT control my WiFi, and all of a sudden, over the last week, my phone has been automatically connecting to my WiFi. It took me a while to figure out what was going on. I ended up disabling this app, as I don't need it and don't want to use it. I can't uninstall it, so disabling is the next best thing. The breaks of having a TracFone. Sometimes you don't have a choice with apps.

DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS APP! It's awful. just awful. always on the blink. never does what it's supposed to do. always screwing around with my mobile data at the worst times. my device connects with hotspots with far less issues than this app has just existing on my device. I wish i could completely get rid of it. unfortunately I'm going to have to root my device just to do just that because it's an awful carrier app.

The application has one purpose, and that is to set how your wifi acts. It ignores my preferred setting, Maximize Wifi Management, which I use to conserve data, and switches back to Optimize Wifi Management, which disconnects me from wifi at the slightest sign of less than average signal, and makes me waste my limited data until I notice and fix it. Several times a day I have to open the app and change it back. If this is a bug, it needs fixing. If it's a feature, shame on the developers.

I tell it not to automate Wi-Fi (by choosing the option in the app that says "don't automate...") because I can't uninstall or disable it, but it likes to change that setting back to automating it without me telling it to. I don't want this phone to use Wi-Fi, so this is annoying. I took away the app's permissions. Hoping it stops now. (Edit: Does seem to work.) Edit: Adding 2 stars as thanks for response. This app is intentionally named something other than DevicePulse to make it harder to disable. And, even though "Wi-Fi Utility" doesn't have *any* permissions on my phone, my wifi turns on and off on its own, connects to networks I never added. I wonder, now that I've removed it, what kind of improvements in battery life and performance I'll see. Their phones are so cheap, there has to be spyware. And I think I found just a bit more of it.

Every time I have to have updates I have to be connected. Then when I go through the update, the next day it pops up again! And I have to go through the same process again! U would think one time would be enough. And I can't get the notification off my phone until I do. I have even deleted but it won't go off. Now it is on again!! This is twice in one day!! This has gotten old. I want the app off!! Have had pop ups for updates 4 times in 2 days!!!

really this is a redundant app. Your phone will already connect to WI-Fi as long as you approve it. Connecting to "WIFI spots" could result in loosing a lot more then loosing the convenience of being connected. I do not use it. I have disabled it and I have fine wifi connectivity. Having another app running always in the background does nothing but eat your resources and battery life in the end. Update: response Naww I am good not using the app.

I DISABLED THE APP AND IT SOLVED THE ISSUE. YOU DO NOT NEED IT TO CONNECT TO WIFI. It's awful and keeps killing my battery. I keep turning off the wifi and it keeps turning back on without my permission. It makes me wonder what other things this app does without my permission. When you chat with tech support about it, they give you answers that are loosely related to your problem. It feels like chatting with an automated answering service.

Huge waste of time. I DO NOT WANT MY WIFI ALWAYS TURNING ON. There is no setting that actually turns the wifi off to keep it off. Been trying for several days to stop my wifi from always turning on. There is absolutely no way in hell to turn off the automatic wifi connections. So far I have disabled every single thing that can be disabled when it comes to the wifi auto connecting. Trash app. Tracphone is trash and android only wants to collect your data.

This app interferes with my use of my phone. I have it set not to manage WiFi and it never stops. Make it stop when it is set to stop. What good is it to be driving past a hotspot at 40 mph and get a login screen you can not use. Even worse it covers up the map navigation I do use extensively. If you are driving you are out of range before you can even log in. If I stop in a WiFi hotspot my saved connections login for me already.

This app is a battery vampire. From the moment I turned it on, my battery began losing life at a noticeably faster rate. I finally managed to stop it from running, but it threatens you with phone disaster if you try to delete it. My battery is somewhat improved with this app disabled, but noticeably less than its previous performance level.

This WiFi App keeps coming on even though I have my settings turned to off, do not connect. I woke up yesterday morning and it was on. I had not touched my phone and it could have connected to any open network and I would not have known. It comes on all the time if I go in any Walmart and they have an open network. I received a reply to go chat to resove my issue. The only solution offered was to return my phone to factory settings. This is NO HELP. I dont want WiFi to automatically come on.

Pre-installed app that you can't uninstall and constantly sends notifications about connecting to wifi. I pay for enough data to never use wifi and have zero interest in ever using WiFi. Thanks for nothing in advance because I'm sure there's going to be a copy paste response to this. I'm not interested in speaking to a rep and none of the other people in my situation are either. Just tell us how to uninstall this annoying app.

This app is terrible. If i turn wifi off, its because i want it off. I'm exhausted of fighting this app and I'm sick of it auto connecting (or attempting to). Its a battery suck constently trying to connect even tho my office doesnt have wifi. And its from the update a couple months ago. I have had this phone for 2 years and never had an issue with this app until then. If this developer doesn't take off the auto connect, I will find a new carrier.

less than impressed. the app changes from maximum wifi to medium level, daily at least. i have to put it back into maximum to recognize my home wifi. what the heck is it running constantly for if it doesnt do that? also, two versions were installed on my mobile and i was unable to find out why. no answer yet. .... .... .... 3-4-2019 so the suggested resolution is repeat what i have already done, & wait, which i am. answers... was it a beta test? syncd probably. i see its a DIY fix. hardware next

Everything is fine except for one major flaw that forced me to disable it. I changed the settings so that the app would not automatically search for and connect to WiFi yet, multiple times per day, it still automatically turns on by itself and kills my battery at over double the normal rate. If this wasn't such a critical problem then I would give this app a much more positive review. PLEASE fix this issue :\

I think this app is giving access to a pesky hacker! Now it is interfering with my new vpn. It has always caused my phone to connect to unwanted wifi, even when all the settings are turned off! No way to keep the wifi turned off...like the phone is possessed! Now it wants more permissions to access my files?? No way! I want it gone! Disabling this mess...

Horrible, useless app. I have the same problem with it as all the other negative reviews. It continually tries to auto-connect to networks when i dont want it to, but it never actually signs into them, just interferes with your data connection so that you cant get ANY signal until you shut one of them off! Horribly annoying! DO NOT suggest that i should try the "HELP" line... Just MAKE THE APP WORK CORRECTLY or DONT INSTALL IT ON OUR PHONES WITH NO OPTION TO REMOVE IT!!!!

How is it going connect to wifi network unless WiFi is on and mine on Stylo 5 is always on..I turn it off and mins later it's on again... Just waisting battery time. I uninstalled (I think, it says factory app but don't think it was installed when got the phone but if factory maybe can't uninstall) hoping wifi stop turning on on it's own... EDIT: Nope could only uninstall updates and WiFi continues to turn on by itself

Used to be able to access my home network just fine. Uninstalling updates for this app and disabling it (thanks for preventing me from removing this unwantable piece of bloatware, by the way) finally restored my ability to access it. Since not using this app is actually useful to me, unlike unwittingly using it, I'm giving it 1 star. I'd give less if I could. And no, I'm not interested in contacting you via email. The only way to fix or improve your garbage app is to erase it. That's it, see ya.

Incredibly annoying & frustrating. If I could rate 0 stars I would. This app is ignoring my disable wifi management settings & keeps connecting to the wifi just seconds after I turn it off. Over. And. Over. The only thing I can do to stop it is to disable the app, or delete wi-fi passwords. And I really don't want to go find those again everytime I actually need wi-fi. I would uninstall this app, but apparently that's not an option. Please fix it so it doesn't ruin other people's days like mine.

I guess the price you pay for having a "free" phone is permanently embedded intrusive mal/bloatware that tries it's best to control your phone for you always at the most crucial moments.... "OK I'm looking at the map for the fastest route and it looks like if you take *phone switches apps to an internet browser page* "sign in to network "......oh just what I wanted.: an app that pretty much hijacks my phone whenever it feels like .....thanks tracfone!

Fantastic app!!!! I would give it 6 stars!! I love it, it's never given me an issue that I couldn't fix myself or tech assistance couldn't within an hour!! If you know what you're doing with what must certainly be a smart "er" phone than you and your a customer of TracFone then NO issues!! If you can't navigate within an app and customize it to your liking then you probably shouldn't even own a phone!! Thank u TracFone, I've been with you for over a decade! NO Issues!! Great company!

Have been having trouble for the last few months with my wi-fi turning itself on. I must continually turn it off since there is no wi-fi connection near me. In the advanced setting the notify when open wi-fi available is fuzzed over and I cannot turn it off. My husband is having the same problem. I read many other reviews of people with this problem. TracPhone support was completely useless. They told me to contact LG directly. So disappointed in TracPhone and StraightTalk for allowing this!

Hate it or update one. If I'm in a area with WiFi connections available even if I can't connect to them it won't switch to moble data making my phone useless. If I can't connect to the available WiFi connections and can't use my moble data what good is this phone. Even if I turn WiFi off still won't switch and turns itself back on. Only been doing this since last update or so. I want this fixed now or I may end up smashing my phone.

Does nothing. An abusing plugin system app.monitors only . Always notify there's open wifi available when they're all password. It's a waste of my time very frustrating trying to gain app to work it just monitors the Wi-Fi signals you get a one-star I've tried for months to get this thing to work. I had to uninstal.l always taking for an open Wi-Fi connection. Interfering. interfering with my VPN connection.

This program is bloatware from tracphone. You DON'T Need to use this program when running Wi-Fi on your phone. Imagine every open Wi-Fi signal that Tracfone says is okay or safe for you to connect to or use hitting your phone over and over and over again costing you data and time slowing down your phone that's what this program does. If that's something you want then maybe this is for you think about that. You're going to 💕 tracphones quick witted reply. They don't correct me. Disable it

This is a good app 2 have I use this alot 2 check my internet serves 2 see how many bars I have up, especially with the internet serves I have 2 use is constantly messing up depending on how the days weather is & sometimes just because they are not my favorite but there isn't any other service with the speed I need around here in my area cuz if there were i would most definitely change I don't care 4 Xfinity👎 "Comcast" they are constantly screwing up & Always raising they're prices up monthly..

why does this app still even exist?! please delete it from the store and our phones. just stop updating it and make non-functional. this thing randomly resets itself to the "optimize" function when i try to set it for "maximize" and yes i have done the reinstall. the problem is the app is $#!+ware to begin with. my phone worked great before this app was ever forced on me. Android already has these functions built in and they don't reset on their own.

Amazon-TracFone Bloatware, not compatible with Xfinity Stream nor my AT&T router. Xfinity drops out, killing shows 4x/hr on this device only (others work fine), forcing me to restart shows or gobbling tracfone data until wifi router reconnects 2+minutes later. Has been forcing me to keep my data connection off at home, which means I can no longer download or hear any cell messages left (error: "Couldn't load voicemail") without dialling in, or waiting 3 mins for LTE data restart or cell restart.
