Widgets for Gmail

Widgets for Gmail is an easy to use collection of beautiful home screen widgets in a variety of sizes
- from icons to large widgets
- that show an unread count of email and SMS / text messages as well as previews (sender, subject and content). It can aggregate messages from different sources into a merged (combined) inbox.
Many widgets show you the unread count, but this is the only one that shows you the content of these messages are and who they are from.

This app works with the latest version of the Gmail app. It does not require third party apps like K-9, nor logins and passwords. It just works!

Review of an older version on TalkAndroid: http://www.talkandroid.com/100486-get-a-cool-gmail-widget-for-your-android-smartphone-available-on-the-google-play-store-video/#more-100486

Features:
- Quickly preview and deal with your mail from the widget
- no need to open Gmail to reply, mark as read, archive, delete or view attachments.
- Automatic updates for labels that are set up to be synced in the Gmail app
- Previews
- shows the first lines of the message in addition to sender and subject (depending on size) on the widget
- Supports different labels (e.g. Priority Inbox, Starred, and custom labels) from several accounts, even on the same widget (Unified Inbox)
- Follows the material design guidelines
- Customisable appearance through themes and different colors
- Different sizes to choose from, including scrollable, resizable stack and list widgets
- Option to show SMS / text messages
- Marshmallow ready (works on Jelly Bean or newer)
- Support for "gmailified" IMAP / POP and Exchange accounts

Known issues:
- It may take up to 30 seconds for the widget to refresh the first time or after a reboot. During this time it may not look like anything is happening. Please be patient. Subsequent updates are much faster.
- If you don't see the widgets in your widget list, reboot your device to make them appear

I recently switched my phone home screens to an overall pretty dark theme to conserve battery. My calendar is dark, music widget is dark, weather widget is dark.... So the standard Gmail widget white and red really stuck out, so I downloaded this app. It allowed me to have a Gmail widget that functions almost exactly like the stock Gmail widget except comes in black and grey instead of red and white. Cheers

This is the widget of my dreams except for one horrific anti feature that has cut my rating in half. I want one thing, one simple thing. After I delete an email, I am taken to "All Mail" instead of my inbox. I shouldn't have to navigate back to my inbox every single time. Once this annoyance is fixed, I'll happily leave five stars. Until then, this app is wasting my time. Which is a terrible shame for the only app on the play store that lets me customise the widget's appearance.

Hi There, In my Gmail account I have about 20 unread messages. In your widget app, I set it to show only "Unread". However it only shows 5 of the unread messages, and then "Show More Conversations" Is there a way it could show all the unread emails? Now each time I open one of the emails, on doesn't load new unread emails. What's going on! Even if I hit refresh on the widget, no new emails come through.

Almost exactly what I was looking for. It would be perfect if there was an option to remove the header. I already know which account this is for and the header just takes up unnecessary space. No other widget I could find allows for this and it would differentiate your widget from others. I would also like the ability to change font size. I love the other customizable settings tho. Please and thank you for your consideration!

Good colour options, though some control over fonts/bold would be great! Also, an option to open emails in an alternative app would be ideal (Samsung email/Inbox). Has to lose another star because of the forced advertising signature.

Being able to change colors and set transparency makes this great for any theme you have going on. One thing I would like (even though I can just delete it) is an option to remove the "Sent from Widgets for Gmail by katzoft" when you press compose. Maybe a $1-$2 paid version that doesn't have enough it?

This widget is very helpful. It would be nice if it defaulted to all unread messages, but it's easy to set it to do that.

For a dedicated widget, it's pretty crappy. I only use it because it's hard to find a widget that matches my other semi-transparent, dark widgets. It never seems to fetch mail, I find myself manually refreshing it all the time. Since it's a dedicated widget, I'd expect the devs to focus more on display options like font size, which folder to open, custom names for each widget... It has a native viewer that looks similar enough to Gmail to confuse me, but it's barely functional. When you click anything, it takes you to Gmail but it defaults you to the "All mail" section of Gmail rather than the folder specified in the widget, which gets really confusing (especially when you are trying to reply from a specific account). I'd honestly rather it just took me straight to Gmail in the first place. Overall has a lot of room for improvement.

Seems to work, still figuring it out, a bit weird with all the labels in one level and turning them on or off

I downloaded this so I could have a Google Inbox widget, but there doesn't seem to be a way to have emails open in the Inbox app, which defeats the purpose. Also not sure if they're planning IMAP support, but that's pretty key for me and it doesn't seem to work.

I've been trying to solve this problem with any luck. this widget keeps displaying emails from the past! inbox from 2009, primary from 2011. Edit. the problem is self corrected with the coming of new emails. has been my main mail widget app due to its customization ability, though sometimes it linked directly to gmail instead of opening mails on its own. but overall suit my needs perfectly.

The original Gmail app can support multiple accounts, including non-Gmail accounts. But this app can only support Gmail-based accounts, making it not very useful.

Thank you for a great app. Would love the ability to swipe left and right to access other emails. Still deserves 5 stars without this functionality. 😁

Loving the way it makes my social media/email home screen look.

I just love making the widget clear, and it functions just how you'd expect it to. Only time it gets wonky is when you have more than one widget on the screen (I have multiple emails) and it caused one email to not show up. But reinstalling fixed that issue.

Decent widget, one thing is that when you click on the email inside the widget, it doesn't open up Gmail, but has its own UI for managing emails. And it's pretty ugly. It would be better if you just linked it directly to open up the Gmail app itself

Mic. N. Jan 25, 2017

This is the perfect widget. I only wish it opened gmail instead of its own basic email client. I would pay to remove the advertisement in my signature.

Ant. W. May 5, 2017

Looks great. However Does not update with new emails, even when click refresh. Opening email does not open in Gmail app

Ric. B. Feb 24, 2016

Wish i could see my entire inbox not just unread . Just not useful and I can't get refund. - Nice to see this functionality has now been added.

I'm looking for an app which will allow me to read and write gmails using white text on black background. This doors that for notifications but when I try to read or send email it's still blank on white. Spent over an hour on this one. Am I missing something?

Sam. D. Jul 23, 2016

This is perfect, a low profile inbox for every account, especially helpful because it puts multiple emails and even texts all in one spot on your homesxreen. Customizable color and opacity makes it fit in easily. Highly reccomend.

Like it, don't love it! I appreciate that the app allows me to check my "Important" Inbox (unlike the traditional Google Gmail widget). However, I dislike that I have to hit the refresh button and wait each time I use the widget. I think this feature should be automatic!

J. M. P. Dec 2, 2016

Doesn't really work properly. when I pick primary it won't update emails. On one account it shows nothing when I pick primary. It looks great but doesn't work at all.

Nop. N. Oct 19, 2017

Works well, I'm using it to display recent texts. Suggestion for the devs: allow the ability to totally remove the header. That way it doesn't say "text messages" at the top. I'd like to just display my texts with a transparent background with no header. Thanks.

I haven't had any issues with the bugs others have had. I love the fact that it runs more than 1 widget for different accounts. I would love to be able to delete emails (spam, junk and emails that I can read on the widget)

Bri. T. Jul 8, 2016

Looks like exactly what I was looking for, but it takes forever to update. I have the stock Gmail widget below this one and the stock one updates and then this one updates a few minutes later.

Kev. B. May 2, 2017

I like the look of the widget and customization available but it often fails to display new emails that I see in my inbox. Without being able to trust the emails display I can't give it a very good review. This is my only issue but it is a big one.
