Winmail.dat Opener
HOW TO OPEN A WINMAIL.DAT FILE:You have two options:1.) Select "Winmail.dat Opener" from the context menu of the winmail.dat attachment in your email client. This option does not work with all Android email apps as some do not allow a fine enough attachment-to-application mapping. If there is no "Winmail.dat Opener" in the context menu you have to use the second option.2.) Save the winmail.dat attachment somewhere on your phone and start the "Winmail.dat Opener" app. The built-in file dialog will open and you can then select the previously saved winmail.dat file.
Once the ‘contained files’ list is displayed, you can open a file in a viewer by tapping it. If you want to save the extracted file you can long tap it.
WHY DOES THE APP REQUIRE A PERMISSION TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET?This app will extract the winmail.dat on your phone/tablet. Ordinarily, the extraction process wouldn’t require internet connection but as our app is ad supported, it will ask for permission for internet access.
THE APP CAN'T OPEN MY .DAT FILE:Kindly note that not every file ending with ".dat" is a winmail.dat file. There are quite a lot of file formats which also use the .dat extension. So, before submitting a one-star review stating that our app didn’t work, please ensure that your file is indeed a winmail.dat (TNEF) file.
THERE ARE NO FILES IN THE WINMAIL.DAT FILE:Microsoft Outlook does not only store attachments into a winmail.dat file, it also sometimes saves style and formatting informations. In those cases you will get an winmail.dat file which does not contain any additional files. If the winmail.dat file is rather small (less than 20KB) it is rather likely that it contains no files.

I don't find that this App contains Inappropriate Ads. It's just that I don't feel this App needs Ads as the Ads are Very Much Annoying and Distracting. Then there's the quality time spent in this App it should be formatted so that a 1st timer using this App can Easily know what they should be doing. App could give Suggestions/Choice to Help the 1st time Visitor, make a Correct Choice of where to Save our Information To.
Simple file opener that works! Didn't open the winmail.dat direct from the Samsung email app (didn't see I had a valid app for .dat files) but opened all the files within the winmail.dat file stored in Downloads (pdf, images etc) using Android 8.
Like other comments, there is always a menu of items to choose from in order to open a file. Not the most intuitive. Not a preferred app..not sure it wasn't the culprit for altering my contacts name to "unknown....". Just not for me
Could open all email attachments except winmail.dat which I receive weekly. So I installed this and I still cannot open them. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling several times but it still does not work!
The application opens winmail.dat file and allows me to open attached files but it is impossible to extract these files out of winmail.dat. Even when I select files I want to extract and tap save icon, I can select destination directory, but there is no save button - only cancel.
Installed instantly. Opened easily. The ".dat" file opened instantly when this app was running. This is the best ".dat" file opener I've ever used, and I have tried several. I can highly recommend this app. It just WORKS!
At last my mind is put at rest. Nothing in any of the files. I complained to the sender but still winmail.dat files are attached to messages sent. I can't read those messages though!
Very disappointing. Email message somehow grabs an attachment and converts it to a win.dat file. So I dl'd this app/program, opened it and tried to open the attachment, Result: it can't open this type file. Useless.
Useless download and i was silly and paid for an upgrade. Should have checked first. An email attachment win.dat when try to open says no app, but it is clearly installed. Don't understand how to use it. Bought same app for my iPad earlier today. That worked.
Works well. the initial Unknown message is just a permissions issue. once you give the permission it is perfect on Android.
when I first got the app it worked for 4 weeks. I get a wimail/dat attachment e very week it hasn't worked now for 3 weeks. I even uninstalled it and reloaded
This app is useless, it says that the .dat files I have are not .dat files, even though they clearly are .dat files. 1 star.
Lately, any pictures in the attachment appear for a second, then are replaced with an !
Nice app, good recent update. Only minus is files not open automatically and everytime I need open app.
I tried to download but just circling and saying downloading but nothing happens... i clicked on install in the app store and it just kept circling... nothing installed
I used it and it showed me my problem, easy for something small to be perfect.
works well. gives info on attachment. one click on name and it opens.
It clearly shows that the file type is .DAT type it still shows, it is not a .DAT type file. **PATHETIC APP**
Downloaded as I wanted to open a dat file. Did not work. Don't waste your time downloading this.

useless app, its installed but still can not open any winmail.dat files.

It made me download another app just to later tell me it still can't do it please do better hope to see better resorts in next upgrade

Unable to open any files and all of which that are sent to me are important. Also after I attempted to open two files, each time afterwards that I recievied a new one by email it won't even show up in the app.
