I read the reviews first and saw that it needs a pretty high current flowing. So I connected a hairdryer first. I also set the level/ threshold a lot lower. It worked! But the response is a little slow and my phone didn't respond often enough to make it a good wire tracer.
Could not detect a live wire anywhere I knew there was. Even tested on a plugged in and in use battery charger. No metal. No Wire. This is potentially very dangerous. DO NOT RELY ON THIS APP.
Reliably detects AC and confirms it with the spectrum, however it really needs strong enough radiation. Works impressively being put close to a phone charger or a resistive load like water boiler.
useless. randomly says there are wires even if just holding it in the air.
showed it lots of metals an it said nothing. Could not trust it for drilling in a wall.
Amazing. It's real
Not impressed at all, I was trying to use this app to detect if I ran a wire through one of my walls because I have to cut a part out to install an air conditioner and I couldn't remember if I did, tested it on a wall that I know has a wire exactly and I couldn't get the app to give an accurate reading
Once detected it doesnt start again automatically so not sure whether it has refreshed and starting again or just showing the previous result! Perhaps a start again button might help someone like me who is only using it for detection to decide whether to drill in the wall or not!
One of the few apps of its kind that is really useful.
Impressive! I tried the metal wire mode and it works well. Of course, noise dominates if distance is large or current is low. Therefore, accumulation of the signal over time can improve sensitivity. Also, we can use stability of phase and phone's clock to further improve signal to noise ratio. I am not sure if frequency spectrum is computed correctly: it is maximal at about 40 Hz while I expected 60. But who knows, maybe the app discovered a problem in my power line! Also, I don't understand why the x axis ends below 50 Hz, hiding the frequencies used by the app to detect wires.
Doesn't even detect the wire of the drill I'm using. Worse, the thing seems to work on MOVEMENT detection, making it very dangerous.
It actually does a good job of detecting wire in walls and even tells you if it's a power wire. Best part of app is no advertisements, no bloat attached. It's Free AND Clear of any clutter!
Doest work. Gives the same result when exposed to wire or to a wooden table.
Awesome! Detection is a little delayed, but that is okay. Both metal and wire detector work fine. Minimum load of 200W seems too low to me. Even 750W is a little low. 2000kW is definitely enough
Doesn't work even when putting it on an exposed wire.
Excellent app. I used it to find AC power cables in concrete walls. It takes a few seconds to average the reading so give it some time and move it slowly. The oscilloscope mode shows very clearl alias of the 50 hz, depending on your phone's acquisition rate. I am not sure it is as good in detecting lower power lines, will need to check.
