Wire - Private Messenger

Great experience overall. But the big problem for me is the reliability. After tens of messages, in and out of the app, it just randomly freezes from time to time up until it becomes unusable... Only a device reboot fixes it. I suspect severe memory leaks... Keep going with the great work, and please improve the reliability. Thanks.

Update: worsening each day. Constantly crashes and freezes. It used to be great but now I dread using it. Barely opens and I have to uninstall/reinstall daily which makes me lose all my backups. If I didn't have to then I wouldn't use the product. Staff takes a long time to reach out and help. Only two personal accounts on Android compared to three on Apple. Update: I've had to uninstall and reinstall FOUR TIMES in the last week and even more overall. No history is saved.

Glitchy AF! Some messages/pictures never arrive for some group members. Comparing screen shots of the message history shows that this happens a lot! Makes group chat very disjointed and hard to follow. Often get 'you cannot see this message' when someone is replying/quoting another user. Often freezes /crashes. Username & profile picture updates sometimes slow (or never) to update on other people's views. Help isn't helpful!

Used to love this app and convinced family members and friends to switch to it. But it stopped working and there is no support for the issue. I have Uninstaller and reinstalled the app. I removed the device/my cell phone from my account in the hopes that reinstalling app with it thinking it's a new device might work but it doesn't. I enter the pass code sent to my phone and then my password and nothing. The app won't open on my phone. So frustrating.

Slow app to send messages. Seems to have ongoing bugs. Staff don't respond quick enough to issues or tickets placed. Images & media aren't received from recipients regardless of updates or work arounds. Most current Android update won't support file downloads. I have never received 1 photo or file on this app & have been using it a few months. Never experienced this with any other messenger app. Fix your sent & received files / pics Wire. Seems many complaints are of same issue. Not recommended

I used to love Wire, would swear by it. Now... Sometimes get a message notification but the message is missing, and never gets delivered. This results in friends having to send me screenshots of messages I can't see. I think it's finally time for my friends and I to leave the platform. What happened to you, Wire? You used to be so good.

Of course i checked the android notifications section on my phone. There is literally NOTHING there to view on the screen to be able to make a change to the sounds that notifications can make (except the "connect to server" beep, which really doesn't matter). I can't change what doesn't show up!!

Suddenly can no longer click on group name in order to get details about it. see who's in it, asjust notifications, remove or set permissions. was able to just days ago. not sure what changed but app version needs serious help. many other strange issues occur. If able I would like to create a full bug report.

No support if there's a bug unless you are a paid user. Wire gets slow as you use it more and more(removing it and cleaning all history makes it fast again). In the past they did help with bugs nowadays if you are a free user ..either live with the bugs or ditch it and get a different app

Used to love wire. My oldest account won't load group chats properly and its been going on for the last six months or so. Also wouldn't load history on another account I have. Also it's messed up iPhone can load 3 accounts and android two. Come on give android users the same courtesy! So many errors and lack of notifs too. Please fix this.

Notifications show messages them wire app shows nothing new. People don't see my messages, I don't see theirs, no notifications will come through for days and then I check and there are a ton of new messages. You name it, it's an issue

Great app. The interface is easy to use and read. Can edit and delete text for everyone. The search is well developed. Groups make it easy to compartmentalize projects. Thx for darkmodes.

Sometime recently I notice that wire is dropping/swallowing messages. They seem to show up on the desktop side. Missing messages is making conversations disjointed and annoying when switching between mobile & desktop...

Good app, good video quality but the little square image box cant be relocated. Always have problems sending media. Calls connect only some of the times. Messages dont always reach their destination. The problem with the orange connecting bar is still there even with wifi. You always have to reset app to get it to finally connect to the server.. App is just not reliable. The UI is soo lame that wastes the screen after years of use and complaints is still not addressed.

2/16 - STILL NO NOTIFICATIONS! CAN'T CHANGE TEXT TONES (as default doesn't work!). Can ya'll fix something without breaking something else? *There are known issues that have been going on for 3+ years now!

I'm trying since morning to get connect with wife support as I'm not getting messages after opening wire I'm just getting notification of message also no read receipts tried everything from my side re logged in re installed restarted my phone change Sim for a better connection and after all nothing got resolved just got new issue my all the chat history has vanished took backup but that bloody file is not getting open wire support just support to wire pro not to wire personal

Didn't accept my mobile number to register no matter how many times I tried. It only permitted registration through email credentials. That's a major shortcoming. I'll try the app for a while to see how it performs. Let's see!

Total rubbish. Works fine for a day. After that the whole app gets slow. Notifications does not work well. This app is a failure.

Not a bad alternative to Signal. Needs more customizability and power. However, there are two things that I have a big issue with: 1. Video colors are dull and lifeless. In other apps, the colors are vibrant, but in Wire, they're drab and grey. 2. Support is HORRIBLE for Personal edition users. There are tons of free apps whose developers offer fast, responsive, top-notch support, so you don't have that excuse. Get your act together or get left behind. Fix these and I'd give 4 stars.

Good idea. Still a nightmare to use! I do wanna like this app as it has great features and kind of well organized. But it just won't work! It's like going through hell using it. Freezing every two seconds, keeps crashing, sometimes I don't even get to open it that it's already crashing or freezing! You scroll up the chat to read what happened and it keeps dragging you down. It's hell! And such a waste.

Wire is an excellent messaging app for those who want to talk to their friends or business partners, without the risk of data leaking which Facebook is known for. Tonnes of power and a simple interface. Best part? It's free! I have used wire on Ipad for a few months and it has been undoubtedly fantastic. I found it on android and was delighted to use it on my phone. After a few weeks of good usage, however, an error came up stating that "wire has stopped working". How do I fix this?

The core messaging functionality is far too unreliable. I often receive messages hours after they were sent and out of order. The app also frequently fails to send some messages. In the unlikely event that I receive messages, notifications often don't work. For a messaging app, those are the bare minimum that the app needs to do. I love the security aspect of wire, but it fails to do the basics. I'll be switching back to Signal or trying Telegram.

I'm not sure why there are low ratings. I've used a wide variety of chat apps and none of them are without some minor annoyances. Overall I've had success with the Wire chat app and can't complain. My main reason for choosing Wire is the security, protecting private discussions, so I'm not going to pick at minor interface issues. It might not be for you if you're looking for perfection in the user interface. Update: There is a bug with the voice record audio distortion that crashes the app.

Wire is one of your only good choices for cross-platform end-to-end encrypted and secure communications with voice and video calling. But this client is not very good. Images are rotated wrong, and it lags really bad with high traffic, often freezing up completely. The worst was the other day when it stopped showing a group chat suddenly. Had to reset the app data to fix it, and found out the hard way that conversation backups don't work across PC and mobile, for no reason. Extremely frustrated.

I've been using this for a number of years now, it gets worse almost every update that comes out. It's finally time to switch messaging app. Thankfully the poor performance is going to make it easy to convince the rest of the group to move. Removed the enter key, made it some sorta send key that doesn't actually do anything. Can't read messages whilst other people in the chat are sending more, what you're currently reading glitches up the chat. Notifications work about 30% of the time.

Wire is great for privacy with great encryption and not needing a phone number. The problem is so many messages get delayed or aren't sent at all and notifications often don't appear. I and others I know have gone through all the troubleshooting steps and it still doesn't help. These issues happen with everyone I know who uses Wire and there are plenty of other people who have the same complaints online.
